From the screenshots it doesn't appear that all of our worker improvements are being used as of yet and also that we're lacking roads. I propose that we have two of our workers in our more developed cities start construction of our road network so that units will be able to travel more easily among our cities. I believe most of our cities are already connected via river for trading purposes.

In reference to what Mrsimperless says regarding road networks between the cities. I do allow your workers to build roads around their home cities where they are most beneficial to resources etc. If you would like to dedicate one of your own workers to the national cause of building a network roads....just say so. Edinburgh has 2, Glasgow has one and Stirling has one.
