2016 Breeders' Cup
The real championships of thoroughbred horseracing... not the Triple Crown races, but the Breeders' Cup.
Tomorrow California Chrome (remember him) gets a pretty heavy nod to win the Classic, but there are interesting races all over the card. Anyone else watching? Betting? I'm building a pick six strategy tonight. |

Best bet was first turf race today. horse had speed for position and closed the last 2.5 in 30.1. saw someone posted it was a slow track so I moved him to top pick. Great day........ best race I remember for long time was the distaff. Had beholder but every where I saw it said songbird so didn't bet nearly as much. Fabulous race. Loved it.
Tomorrow I like a lot, not this time. Depending on odds lady Eli. And throw a few bucks on wonder gal a long Longshot.

Some early thoughts for the Saturday Pick 6
R7 Turf Sprint - looks impossible to sort out 9 A LOT 8-1 12 OM 12-1 14 CELESTINE 8-1 R8 Juvenile 10 NOT THIS TIME 7-2 (might single here) 2 SYNDERGAARD 6-1 5 CLASSIC EMPIRE 4-1 R9 Turf (taking stand against the imports #MAGA ) 5 ASHLEYLUVSSUGAR 15-1 13 METABOSS 30-1 9 MONEY MULTIPLIER 20-1 4 FLINTSHIRE 5-2 R10 F&M Sprint 8 CARINA MIA 7-2 5 WONDER GAL 30-1 7 GLORYZAPPER 15-1 R11 Mile (I love the mile, and I love this race) 9 IRONICUS 8-1 8 TEPIN 3-1 (defending champion) 5 TOURIST 15-1 R12 Classic 4 CALIFORNIA CHROME 1-1 (duh) 9 HOPPERTUNITY 15-1 3 FROSTED 5-1 I'm taking a stand against the 3yo ARROGATE who ran a light-out race in the Travers. Tough to bet against CHROME unless you're looking for value, which I always am. No shock if he wins comfortably here and tops off a monstrous career. I've loved FROSTED for a long time, and we know he has the ability to pop off a huge effort... but I'd rather be looking at 8-1 than 5-1. HOPPERTUNITY and maybe KEEN ICE (if things get hot up front) could be values. I might end up with a decent CHROME-junk-junk tri/super ticket in hopes of cleaning up against those who are really running to beat CC, and instead backing those who end up picking up the pieces. An odds-on winner could still light up the tote a bit if it comes in 4-3-8-9 or something like that. |

ARROGATE wins it with an effort remarkably similar to the Distaff yesterday, just barely running down the front-running favorite. Both great races.
TOURIST saved my bacon on an otherwise crappy day of near-misses. |

Thought your OM pick was pretty good, they just let that horse go to easily on lead. Easy win obviously. Seemed liked everything was closing and losing by nose today...... Liked the winner but thought he should pay more with chrome in race so didn't win much on him. Lost a little today but had great time. Probably most fun I have had at track not to win on day. Great races.
