windows 7 password help (now is about forum bot theory)

so i got my girlfriend a laptop for her birthday last year, which is running windows 7.

when she started it up, she set up the admin password and hint, but also set up the fingerprint scanner.

since she has never used anything BUT the fingerprint scanner since then, she no longer remembers the password, or the answer to the hint!

i have done some digging around online and found some tools that you have to pay for to reset it, as well as some DOS code, but i dont want to pay for one of the tools, and the DOS doesnt seem to do the job

can anyone give me the command lines or recommend another way to reset the admin password. I have full access to her account (as long as i have her finger) and have already created a second account with admin permissions.

thanks

Ophcrack worked for me. Didn't cost me a cent.

In fact, the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor (https://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ ) can be used to do the same thing,it won't cost you a cent,Low-cost software is also doing well for Windows password reset.

I think the point of it was a spam attempt?

Well, I get the spam designed to look somewhat like a real post, but then containing some sort of link or whatnot, that presumably benefits somebody. Here, this is presumably a seems-real bot that spits out strings of words that seem vaguely on point. Ok, but to what end? I don't see a link here or in his profile... is the account trying to look legit to later it can spit out links and such?

If you google it it’s a piece of legit software with a somewhat sketchy website, maybe malware or something sinister? I actually think that’s quite a satisfying answer, maybe I’ll take the time to dig into a bit more.

DOLA - the site does look pretty legit and just old school, so that's not it (and I now even notice that somebody mentioned it above). BUT... the FAQ does say that people sell copies of it on eBay without the authors permissions, so maybe that's it? It clearly is common enough that it made the FAQ.

A low cost bot that just searches a bunch of forums for a particular phrase, makes a spam post without a link (most people aren't going to buy something from an eBay seller they get linked directly to especially if they are clicking on what they think is a legitimate link) and hopes that at least some people are going to put it into eBay (or another site that the seller is on) or get directed there by a google search? Seems tenuous, but not more tenuous than a bot that just likes to make throwaway posts.

If there is any subject on which I'm willing to take the advice of a Russian bot, it has to be cracking the password on a laptop.
