Greatest WW regret?

If you had one game that you could play over again, and do one thing differently, what would it be?

For me, I would have whacked Lathum in Alan's Tombstone game when we were wolves together with Barkeep. I was the 2nd in command and I would have certainly taken him out in a gunfight, seeing as how I was Johnny Ringo. I would imagine that would have earned major trust in the context of the game. And it would have been just amazingly fun to bring up over the last couple of years

But it was my first game playing with Lathum as co-wolves and I was looking forward to chatting/strategizing with him. Oddly enough, I didn't want to piss off a guy on the board that I generally liked Normally, I don't let that stop me from doing what I consider "the right thing" in terms of winning and storytelling, but in that one case I did. It still bugs me when I stop to think about it.

I probably wouldn't have blown up on Pass in the Survivor game like I did.

I honestly don't have any regrets. The thing I feel silliest about is the whole Let's go with what hoops said, Render is a wolf bit. But I don't really regret it at all. I was silly to trust hoops, but secondary principal, render will be a distraction if left to live, was valid. I was still silly.

Mine comes from Hoops' recent Marvel game. I really feel bad about using my power to take over Schmidty (Hulk) and then having him basically off himself. I debated it so much before doing it but let wanting to win get in the way of doing what would've been the right thing. I still feel bad when I look back at it.

Yeah, it is for that game, but I like the guys around here and we're playing for fun (yeah, I love to win but you get what I mean) and it screwed somebody out of it. All o fthat said, I would have a struggle if the same situation arose again but it did suck for him.

I used to have nightmares about leading people astray as a wolf. I was a darn good wolf back in the day. Now, not so much, but I sleep better.

I only have one regret that bugs me, it was the end of the Battlestar G game when I screwed up the endgame and voted wrong. It was ntn and someone else and one of them fooled me good.

That's right, it was you! Bastard. You played that pretty well, and I had myself convinced of the likeliness of a scenario that wasn't even in the game. Ah well.

I messed up in one of Hoops games he ran, the one where Lathum day killed Blade after their blowup. I had the ability to scan sentences from the thread. It was obvious at one point that Lathum was up to no good but no one could quite place what the hell he was up to. I ended up scanning a sentence from before Lathum started going all haywire and wasted my ability as a result. I really think I was the reason Lathum ended up winning that game. Was an awful play on my part.

I made so many mistakes in my first game as a GM it was awful. But I created a role for it that was a reverse conversion, because I thought that would be cool. I think CR had it, and it was his first game. I hadn;t thought that through. Reverse convert a wolf and what happens? They'll get night killed for sure because they know everything. How do I stop them from talking or using what they know against the wolves? If aI kieep them from talking, mentioning, hinting or in any way sending signals as to who the wolves are, I what? Punish them? That doesn;t sound like fun for them. It sounds like they can only play half the game.

I tried to think about how to incorporate something like that into a game before my first one. The closest that I came up with was a trigger for one of the wolves which would give them a new win condition of being the sole surviving wolf when it reached 1:1. That trigger never happened so I didn't get to see how that would player out.

I sort've employed that role with the lesser ancient in the labyrinth where render knew the wolves but if he voted for any of them they'd instantly be told who he was. But yeah, you sort've have to trust that the player doesn't make any reveals, and I made sure render had some other options to play around with. It's about the same as trusting that people won't talk outside of the game about the game though, really, so I would happily do it again.

Regrets? Hrm. I still regret not being able to convince everyone I was the Seer in that game where I scanned farking everyone. It was like my 3rd-4th game and I think if it happened now I could do it.

Mine was from the last Marvel game as well, also involving the Hulk. I went to bed the night before that really paranoid wondering if the wolves would try to take out Doom again. I thought maybe I should get up early and make sure I put in a defensive mood in case there was something time-sensitive they did during the day.

But I didn't. And when I checked into the thread at about 10 that morning I had already been killed by the Hulk. I cursed up a storm, and really, really wished I had gone ahead and made an early morning move.

I can't really think of any specific regrets. The only one I have really has been beaten to death around here anyways. I just enjoy WW games however they turn out.

I also had some epic blowups with Schmidty that I feel were very regretful. Schmidty is a great guy, but back in the early days both of us were very volatile players and it seemed every game came down to a day where it was either me or him.

i don't remember which game it was, but the game where i blew the endgame for us wolves by outing myself too early and making things difficult for my fellow wolf that game.

Oh, and Cathedral II where I felt like I was leading the charge of people frustrated with Alan, but I was a wolf so in some sense I had to, but it all got pushed too personally and resulted in that whole situation.

i almost destroyed my own game during starwars when i extended the deadline to let hoops use a mechanic i had built, then then wasnt around to implement (i was sick)...so i tried to fix it by adding an hour, not thinking that anyone else would do anything during that hour except for hoops...someone changed their vote, which changed the lynch, which changed the mechanic...it screwed up alot (and pissed alot of people off) and I eventually just went back to the original deadline outcome and pretended my horrible idea never happened.

Yeah, we had a lot of fun tiffs. I kind of wish I was still that angry of a guy because it definitely made things interesting.

It figures -- I get the duke role, leaving me free to act as wolfish as I want, and I couldn't get people to vote for me to save my life (except dead ones).

I was getting annoyed at people having posts that said nothing more than "I am a villager" or basically used that as part of their argument for why someone else's vote was misplaced. My thinking was that everyone would proclaim themselves a villager, so it's pretty much not worth saying. So I basically gave someone a point for every time they told us they were villagers, and voted for the highest score, unless I felt like I had something better to go on. I might have even had a system where some occurrences of it were worth more than others, but it's kinda hazy to me.
