Another Multiplayer BBCF Dynasty: Bowl Bound Wisconsin
www.bb-bbcf.net
In this universe: There are no playoffs, no BCS - just bowl games. The winner of the Big Ten plays the winner of the Pac Ten in the Rose Bowl. The winner of the Big 8 play in the Orange Bowl; the winner of the Southwest Conference plays in the Cotton Bowl; etc. Wisconsin has mostly finished middle-of-the-pack in the Big Ten in recent years: 1985 6-5 (4-4) 1986 5-6 (3-5) 1987 7-4 (5-3) (lost in the Copper Bowl to West Virginia, 30-27) 1988 5-6 (4-4) 1989 5-6 (3-5) We take over the team after the bowl season, but before recruiting. An initial look at our roster: Code:
We have two decent young quarterbacks. Robert Perkins got some playing time as a redshirt freshman, and did ok, completing 52.1% of his passes, with a 6-3 td-int ratio. All of our decent running backs will be seniors in the upcoming campaign, which is a problem. I don't see any underclassmen at another position who might make a good running back, either. We are very deep in wide receivers, which bodes well for our passing game. Our offensive line is, offensively, our weak spot, but the projected starters all appear to have some potential. There are a number of things we might try offensively, and it will depend on our coordinator's preference what we implement. Defensively, with Briggs and Burnette we look to be very strong up the middle, and we're swimming in decent to solid defensive backs. I'm strongly tempted to go with a 4-2-5 here, but again it will depend on our defensive coordinator's preference. Last edited by st.cronin : 12-04-2007 at 08:53 PM. |

A couple of players not listed above have left the school, and we have added another young quarterback to our roster: Ronald Osborne, from the University of Miami. 2.5/3.5 He's the same class as Luther Armstrong, and where he'll fit in in the food chain has yet to be determined. Right now I see him long term as being behind both Perkins and Armstrong, but he may have a chance to start as a 5th year senior.
We have 20 scholarships to fill in the upcoming recruiting period. Last edited by st.cronin : 12-04-2007 at 11:59 PM. |

8 of 20 scholarships have been filled:
**** DT John Goodman, 6'5", 278, Melvindale HS, MI, pass rusher (1.0/4.5) **** CB (A) James Sandoval, 5'8", 164, Colonel Crawford HS, OH (1.5/4.0) *** WR William Montgomery, 5'8", 172, Canfield HS, OH (2.0/4.5) *** OLB Daniel Jones, 6'2", 233, Northland CC, MN (3.0/4.0) *** OT Manuel Willoughby, 6'6", 297, Green HS, OH, (1.0/4.0) *** ILB (A) Edward Gates, 6'2", 220, Brookfield Academy, WI (2.0/4.0) *** SS Patrick Hughes, 5'10", 163, Croswell-Lexington HS, MI (1.5/4.0) *** FS Kirk Spencer, 5'10", 160, Durand Area HS, MI, (2.0/3.5) I had identified Goodman early on as the most important player I was recruiting, and he chose us over Minnesota, Northwestern, and Indiana. Daniel Jones, a JC recruit, will probably step into a starting job, filling a big need for us. |

*** TE Raymond Porter, 6'1", 233, Mendota HS, IL (1.5/4.0) *** RB Joel Lewis, 5'11", 185, Northland CC, MN (3.0/3.5) *** DT Charles Sanchez, 6'5", 275, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS, MN (1.0/3.5) *** C Manuel Sheppard, 6'1", 277, Groveport-Madison HS, OH (1.5/4.0) *** OG Christopher Wilcox, 6'8", 279, Kankakee HS, IL (1.0/4.0) Lewis committing actually hurt us quite a bit, since it caused a high school RB I had high hopes for to lose interest. I really need a good RB in my incoming freshman class. |

But nobody else went after him, and we got him. Also he looks like he's going to be good. |

Post-camp 2 deep
http://bb-bbcf.net/reports/team29r.htm Code:
Code:
Lewis and Pearce will initially split time, with a couple of other options hanging around. Lewis looks better on the roster than he did as a recruit, he's one of several pleasant surprises in our class. Code:
Bailey will be a 4 year starter, but Lopez will get plenty of snaps. There's very little difference in terms of skills between them. Code:
McGill is coming off a nice season - 729 yards, 56 catches. Nobody else in this group has seen significant pt, but they all look to be pretty good. Code:
Sample (who started every game a year ago) is more of a pass-catcher than a run-blocker. It doesn't look like he'll be challenged for PT by anybody anytime soon. Code:
The plan is actually for both Burchfield and Willoughby to redshirt, but if injuries strike, they may be forced to play. Bond and Adams are both much better at pass protection than run blocking. Code:
Griffith is another guy much more comfortable pass-blocking than run-blocking. Hargrove is more balanced. I foresee difficulty running the ball. Code:
Johnson looks to our best overall lineman, and the one with the most balanced skillset. None of the projected starters have much experience. Code:
Jimenez and Wills are both somewhat injury prone, and haven't done much when healthy. Hopefully they can step it up a bit. Code:
Burnette was 3rd team all Big Ten a year ago. I feel good about this group of players. Code:
Ramirez, who started 8 games as a true freshman, really boomed in camp, and now looks like an outstanding LB. Code:
Jones replaces Hawes. Really pleased with the roster improvement at OLB. Code:
Briggs is coming off a 97 tackle season. Code:
Jewell started every game last year. I've got a lot of good young CBs on the roster, too. Code:
Page and Bailey both look quite good. I should have one of the best secondaries in the Big 10. Code:
Cooley netted 31.5 yards per punt last year; on the other hand, Ladd made 14/17 fgs, including 2-2 from 50+. Offensive strengths: Receivers, pass-blocking. Offensive weaknesses: Run-blocking, running backs. This team is set up to play a vertical or run and shoot offense, but without the big-time qb to run it. We're going to try a more balanced offense. It may take a couple of years for this to make sense, as our recruits work their way into the system. I don't think I recruited a potential 1,000 yard rusher in my last class, so RB will be an area of focus in the next off-season. Projected starters include 1 freshman, 1 sophomore, 7 juniors, and 2 seniors. Defensive strengths: Secondary. Defensive weakness: Defensive end. We'll be playing a 4-3, with a lot of zone coverages. I feel like we should be solid defensively, and the young players all look pretty good as well. Projected starters include 1 sophomore, 6 juniors, and 4 seniors. |

We open the season hosting Passacaglia's FSU Seminoles: we are 2 point underdogs.
The game is a tight affair for 3 1/2 quarters, but we surrender two late TDs to lose 30-19. QB Perkins took every snap, but was just ok: 20-34, 162 yards, 2 tds, 1 int. Our running game was more impressive, as Joseph Pearce went for 109 yards on just 11 carries. We had 23 first downs to FSU's 19, but we gave up 320 yards passing - a big problem. Box score and play by play. Up next: Our Big Ten opener, at home against ranked Michigan State. |

#21 Michigan State (2-0) @ Wisconsin (0-1)
Michigan State has been in a decline, going 5-3. 4-4, and 3-5 in the last three seasons of Big 10 play. Still, their roster is about as talented as ours. Their defensive line is particularly strong. Perkins goes down early in the game with an elbow injury, and Armstrong sees his first action of the year - he plays quite well in his collegiate debut, completing 12 of 19 for 203 yards. Our running game rolls right along, as we get 6.7 ypc. 3 straight touchdowns in the third quarter puts the game away, and we jump out to a 1-0 conference record. Here is the box score and play by play. Big 10 standings: Code:

Ohio (0-3) @ Wisconsin (1-1)
This is not Ohio State, but instead the Ohio Bobcats - our lone cupcake ooc game. Perkins is still out with an injured elbow. Our ground game continues to impress; 2 different backs, Joseph Pearce and Richard Bailey, both go over 100 yards. We lead 24-3 late in the first half, and are never seriously challenged. Final score, 41-13. Here are the box score and the play by play. Code:

Iowa Hawkeye's have some talent, but have been scuffling this season, losing to Northern Illinois in their opener, and also losing to their in-state rivals Iowa State. Their starting qb is out with an injury, and they're relying on true freshman Chris Holmes. They get out to an early 3-0 lead, but Holmes is picked off 3 times - a solid defensive effort gives us a 27-6 win. Box score Play by play Note that FS Henry Wells had 3 picks, and a forced fumble. The Wolverines feature a dangerous freshman running back, Abe Wallace, and one of the top qbs in the conference, John Rojas. I'm pretty confident about our chances, but offensively we lay an egg: 2-14 on 3rd down conversions dooms us to a 22-6 loss. Box Score Play By Play Code:
Defensively it appears we played well; offensively we got poor performances from our O-Line and our receivers. A tough loss - I think I had a good game plan, just got some bad performances at key times. |

Northwestern (0-5) @ Wisconsin (3-2)
Northwestern is having a difficult season - they have some decent talent, but have a number of holes both on offense and defense that opponents have been able to exploit. I expect an easy win, and my team comes through, rolling to a 34-13 victory. Armstrong connects on two long touchdown passes in the first half, and is the player of the game. Wisconsin (4-2) @ Indiana (4-4)
We should be solid favorites in this game. Indiana pulled in a nice recruiting class in the off-season, but most of their talent is inexperienced underclassmen. Their starting QB, Chi Hall, is a true freshman with a 9-13 td-int ratio. William Nelson returns the opening kickoff for a touchdown, putting us up 7-0; Indiana controls play most of the rest of the first half, leading 17-13 at halftime. We're able to shut them out in the second half, and pull away to win 29-17. Box score Play by play Code:
Still four unbeatens: #1 LSU (8-0) #2 Maryland (6-0) #12 Florida State (7-0) #14 Air Force (8-0) Some games around the country: #20 Georgia Tech (6-3) over #9 Clemson (5-2), 31-17 #21 Arkansas (5-3) over Texas A&M (4-4), 28-10 #5 Arizona State (6-1) over Washington State (5-4), 20-19 Oregon State (6-2) over #8 Washington (6-2), 40-29 Texas Tech (6-1) over Texas (4-4), 41-7 Missouri (6-3) over Oklahoma State (4-3), 27-15 West Virginia (8-1) over Boston College (5-4), 26-19 Virginia Tech (6-3) over Pittsburgh (6-3), 32-24 |

We have a bye week coming up. This is what's going on around the conference and country:
#3 Illinois (6-1) @ #13 Ohio State (5-2) (-4) #4 Michigan (6-1) @ #7 Michigan State (6-2) E #24 Purdue (4-4) @ Northwestern (0-7) (++7) Iowa (1-7) @ Indiana (4-5) (-12) Illinois is up by 1 game over Michigan and Ohio State for the conference lead. Colorado (6-3) @ #25 Oklahoma (7-1) (-12) Oklahoma State (4-3) @ Nebraska (6-2) (-15) Oklahoma should be able to handle Colorado, keeping them within a game of Nebraska, who have the Cowboys this week. Brigham Young (7-1) @ #14 Air Force (8-0) (-4) Air Force, one of four unbeatens, faces a tough test. #17 Stanford (5-2) @ Washington State (5-4) (+9) California (4-2) @ #5 Arizona State (6-1) (-9) Arizona State is one game ahead of Cal and Stanford, who are both playing on the road. Stanford is favored on the road, but if they lose, the Sun Devils will be in a strong position. #1 LSU (8-0) @ Auburn (6-3) (+10) #6 Alabama (6-2) @ #18 Ole Miss (6-2) E This is probably the rest of the country's best shot at LSU before the Sugar Bowl, where they appear headed. Ole Miss has dropped their last 2 after a hot start, but they have a chance at a signature win here. #16 Notre Dame (5-4) @ Oregon State (6-2) (+2) Boston College (5-4) @ Penn State (6-3) (-8) Pittsburgh (6-3) @ Missouri (6-3) (-4) Several teams with good matchups looking to get to 7 wins, which likely assures a bowl game. |

Purdue (5-4) @ Wisconsin (5-2)
Purdue started out hot, but has struggled in conference play, losing close games to Illinois, Minnesota, and Michigan State. We outgain them on the ground 121-34, but struggle in the red zone - we end up kicking 7 fgs, and scoring just one td. One of those fgs comes in the last minute, and puts us up 28-25, the winning score. Box score Play by play Code:
There are just 2 undefeated teams left, Maryland and Florida State. Around the country: ACC 8-0 (5-0) Maryland (N. Carolina, @ S. Carolina, @ NC State) 6-2 (3-2) Clemson (NC State, @ N. Carolina, @ S. Carolina) 4-4 (3-2) NC State (@ Clemson, @ Duke, Maryland) 7-4 (3-4) Georgia Tech (@ Duke) 6-4 (2-4) South Carolina (Maryland, Clemson) Maryland needs 1 more win to clinch a spot in the Gator Bowl. NC State has an outside shot at a conference title - they need to win their remaining games, and Maryland to lose all theirs. NC State also could end up non-bowl-eligible, so they have a wide range of possible outcomes. Georgia Tech and Clemson are likely to get some kind of bowl invite, and South Carolina could as well. Big 8 7-3 (5-1) Nebraska (Colorado) 9-1 (4-1) Oklahoma (@ Kansas, @ OK State) 4-5 (3-2) Kansas (Oklahoma, Missouri) 6-4 (3-2) Missouri (@ Iowa St, @ Kansas) 6-4 (3-3) Colorado (@ Nebraska) Oklahoma beat Nebraska, so if they win out they go to the Orange Bowl. Nebraska must beat Colorado and hope for a loss by Oklahoma. Missouri is likely to win 7 or 8 games, so they should end up bowling, and Colorado will be eligible for an invite as well. Big 10 7-2 (5-1) Ohio State (@ Purdue, @ Michigan) 7-2 (5-1) Minnesota (Indiana, @ Wisconsin) 7-2 (5-1) Illinois (Wisconsin, @ Northwestern) 6-2 (5-1) Wisconsin (@ Illinois, Minnesota, @ California) 7-3 (4-3) Michigan State (Iowa) 6-3 (3-3) Michigan (@ Northwestern, Ohio State) Still a 4 way tie for 1st place in the Big 10. Looking at the remaining schedules, Illinois would seem to be a slight favorite. All 6 of these teams will presumably end up bowling. Big West 7-3 (6-1) San Jose State (@ UNLV) 6-4 (5-2) Fresno State (@ Nevada) 6-3 (4-2) LA-Monroe (@ Boise State, Arkansas State) 6-3 (4-2) Boise State (LA-Monroe, @ Idaho) San Jose State won again, but there are now 4 teams bowl-eligible. The winner of this conference has traditionally been invited to the California Bowl. CUSA 4-5 (4-1) Central Florida (@ M. Tenn. St., La-Lafayette, @ UAB) 5-4 (4-2) Army (@ UConn, E. Carolina, Navy) Army and C. Florida each play 12 games, giving them an extra chance at a win. Its possible no team from CUSA will get a bowl invite. Major Independents 9-1 West Virginia (@ Pittsburgh) 7-3 Syracuse (Penn State) 7-3 Virginia Tech (@ Virginia) 7-3 Penn State (Texas, @ Syracuse) 7-3 Pittsburgh (West Virginia) 5-5 Notre Dame (@ Boston College) 5-5 Boston College (Notre Dame) None of the major independents played this week, but a number of them are in good position to get a New Years day invitation. Notre Dame and Boston College will play for bowl-eligibility. MAC 6-4 (5-1) N. Illinois (Bowling Green) 5-4 (5-1) Cincinnati (Akron, Miami OH) 4-4 (4-1) C. Michigan (@ E. Michigan, Toledo, W. Michigan) 4-4 (3-2) Bowling Green (Ball State, @ N. Illinois, Toledo) N. Illinois and Cincinnati are well positioned to get bowl invitations. The winner of this conference traditionally plays in the Motor City Bowl. Pac 10 7-2 (5-1) Stanford (Arizona State, California, LA Tech) 7-2 (5-1) Arizona State (@ Stanford, @ Arizona) 8-2 (4-2) Oregon State (@ UCLA, @ Oregon) 7-2 (4-2) Washington (USC, @ Wash. St.) 4-4 (3-3) California (@ Oregon, Florida St., @ Stanford, Wisconsin) 5-4 (3-3) USC (@ Washington, UCLA) Stanford won, AZ State lost. The big game, then, is this week: AZ State @ Stanford. Oregon State is hanging around, too, as is Washington. California and USC could earn bowl invites, but they have extremely difficult schedules. SEC 9-1 (5-1) LSU (Vanderbilt, Kentucky) 7-3 (5-2) Florida (@ Georgia) 5-4 (4-2) Tennessee (Auburn, Vanderbilt) 7-2 (4-2) Alabama (Miss. State, @ Auburn) 6-4 (4-3) Georgia (Florida) 6-4 (3-3) Auburn (@ Tennessee, Alabama) 6-4 (2-4) Ole Miss (Kentucky, @ Miss. State) LSU slipped up! They have a fairly easy schedule from here out, so it still seems overwhelmingly likely that they will represent the SEC in the Sugar Bowl. There are a bunch of other teams that will be positioning and petitioning for bowl bids in the coming weeks. SWC 6-3 (5-1) SMU (@ Houston, TCU) 7-1 (4-1) Texas Tech (Arkansas, @ TCU, @ Baylor) 6-2 (4-1) TCU (@ Texas AM, Texas Tech, @ SMU) 6-2 (4-1) Baylor (Texas, Arkansas, Texas Tech) 7-3 (4-2) Arkansas (@ Texas Tech, @ Baylor) Not much change here, except that Baylor won, and is now bowl-eligible. Southern Methodist still seems to be the favorite to make the Cotton Bowl. WAC 8-1 (6-0) Brigham Young 9-1 (6-1) Air Force 5-4 (3-3) New Mexico 6-3 (3-3) Utah Air Force moved to 9-1, but is behind BYU for the conference title. Its not clear how much love the Bowls will show the WAC, but Utah and New Mexico could also end up with good W-L records. |

Wisconsin (6-2) @ Illinois (7-2)
2 of the 4 teams tied for first in the Big 10 meet. Illinois has a top 5 defense, and a big, tough qb in Thomas Nickerson. We go with our usual ball-control gameplan, and try a heavy zone-coverage, low-blitz defensive scheme. Everything breaks right, as we cruise to a 36-10 win. Box score play by play Code:
Around the Big 10: Minnesota 45, Indiana 29 Michigan 33, Northwestern 3 Purdue 19, Ohio State 10 Code:
Purdue's win on the road eliminates Ohio State from title contention, and means that we play Minnesota for a trip to the Rose Bowl - even if we lose, we've exceeded my expectations for the year. |

Maryland has clinched the ACC title, and accepted a bid to the Citrus Bowl, although their quest for a perfect season was shot down by S. Carolina. Clemson is one of several teams under consideration for the Fiesta Bowl. Code:
Oklahoma beat Nebraska, so if the Sooners survive Bedlam, or if Nebraska drops their final game against Colorado, Oklahoma will play in the Orange Bowl. Code:
Florida State's unbeaten run came to a screeching halt last week on the road at California. The Berkeley Bears bombed FSU 44-6. Cal Coach Heinz's comment on his approach: "Even I'm friggin shocked. I just figured 'Screw it, let's chuck and duck it this game, we'll likely lose anyhow'." At any rate, FSU is under consideration for both the Orange and the Sugar Bowls, but is rumored to actually prefer the Fiesta. West Virginia may also get a New Years Day Bowl, although their record is viewed with suspicion by some folks. Code:
Arizona State has clinched the Pac 10, and will meet either Wisconsin or Minnesota in the Rose Bowl. Washington has a good shot at earning an invite to the Orange Bowl, possibly to face Oklahoma. Code:

Minnesota (8-2) @ Wisconsin (7-2)
A trip to the Rose Bowl is on the line today, along with Paul Bunyan's Axe. I'm pretty worried about my QB situation prior to this game - Armstrong has completed less than 1/2 his passes the last two games, granted they were against pretty good teams. He also has more interceptions than touchdown passes, which makes it all the more remarkable that we've been winning. At any rate, I decide to stick with Armstrong, and make some slight adjustments to the game plan. The result is a disaster: Armstrong completes just 9 of 22 for 78 yards, and gets pulled for Perkins, who is equally bad before getting injured. The game is still close, though: Minnesota 21, Wisconsin 19. With even adequate qb play, we could have won this game. *sigh* Box score Play by play Code:

California is fighting for a bowl bid. They ended Florida State's unbeaten run two weeks ago. Their offensive line is very strong, and lately they've been just carpet-bombing teams with a deep passing game. The game is an exciting one, with lots of points, but Cal pulls away in the end: Cal 38, Wisconsin 23. Box score play by play Code:

BOOMER! We need to bring in a great recruiting class this year. I'm also worried that our Heisman winner, junior RB Roderick Webb, is going to leave early for the NFL. |

The first player to sign with us in the recruiting season is the #1 punter in the country:
**** P Maurice Durham; 5'11", 173; Royalton, MN (14/16) Not the most exciting news in the world, but we did need a punter, and he looks like a good one. He turned down offers from Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Purdue. Here is who else we have offers on, where they are from, and who we are competing with (asterisk denotes jc player): ***** CB John Powell, Ohio (Notre Dame) **** RB Milton Osborne, Wisconsin **** FB Daniel Martinez, Ohio **** WR Jason Richards, Wisconsin (Michigan State) **** WR Charles King, California **** DT Milton Bland, Minnesota (Minnesota) **** DT Edward Watson, Wisconsin (Minnesota) **** ILB *Clifford Christopher, Michigan (Indiana) **** SS Christopher Lewis, Ohio *** FB *Kurt Christian, Wisconsin *** WR *Gary Sepulveda, Florida *** DE Joseph Moore, Illinois *** DE *William Haynes, Ohio *** OLB Glenn Jackson, Wisconsin (Virginia Tech) *** K Alex Fowler, Wisconsin (Cincinnati, Northwestern) A couple of those offers we are probably going to drop, as I don't think we have much of a shot at them, or else I am worried that they won't qualify, or for some other reason. We've dropped the offers to Bland and Jackson, as I thought it was less than 50/50 that I would land them. Here's my recruiting notebook:
**** #292 RB Milt Osborne, 5'10", 211, Sturgeon Bay, WI, no other offers - I assume he'll commit, and if he does he'll almost certainly be our starting RB as a true freshman. **** #271 FB Daniel Martinez, 6'1", 228, Toledo, OH, no other offers - There are no starting-quality backs on my roster, so he'll have a chance to start as well. *** #639 FB Kurt Christian, 6'1", 250, New Holstein, WI, no other offers - Juco who will likely compete with Martinez for the starting job. *** #513 WR Gary Sepulveda, 6'3", 200, New Port Richey, FL, no other offers - another Juco, will probably redshirt a year, as I've got a bunch of good receivers coming back. **** #285 WR Jason Richards, 6'6", 175, Green Bay, WI, also considering Michigan State - It would hurt my feelings to lose out on an in-state 4 star prospect. **** #607 WR Charles King, 6'4", 177, San Diego, CA, no other offers. Also a potential punt and kick returner. *** #554 OT Scott Roberts, 6'6", 317, Freedom, WI, no other offers - A juco that I don't have any immediate use for, and will likely redshirt a year. I will need to rebuild my offensive line in a year, and he may end up a big part of that. *** #999 DE Joseph Moore, 6'8", 252, Chicago, IL, no other offers. I don't have the depth at defensive line that I'd like. I don't know how good Moore will be, this may be a bit of a reach. *** #1098 DE William Haynes, 6'2", 259, Lebanon, OH, no other offers. Another juco, he's basically being recruited to be a backup. **** #113 DT Edward Watson, 6'6", 270, Hammond, WI, also considering Minnesota. Minnesota crushed us in recruiting last year. Our incoming punter chose us over the Gophers, and I'm hopeful Watson comes our way too. He'd likely get some pt as a true freshman, although probably not a starting gig. **** #108 ILB Cliff Christopher, 6'2", 255, Springport, MI, also considering Indiana. Yet another juco, there's no immediate spot for a starter at LB, so he may actually redshirt a year. ****#291 ILB James Smith, 6'0", 236, Denver, IN, no other offers. Still another juco. If I get both Christopher and Smith, one will end up as an OLB, and both will probably redshirt. More likely is we get one, and the other loses interest. ***** #67 CB John Powell, 5'10", 167, Millersport, OH, also considering Notre Dame. The big fish. I think I have a good shot at him, he would be my first 5 star recruit in any mp league. **** #200 S Chris Lewis, 6'1", 177, Toledo, OH, no other offers. Listed as a SS, I'll evaluate him when he's on my roster and decide whether he makes more sense there or at FS or even CB. *** #869 K Alex Fowler, 6'3", 172, Livingston, WI, also considering Cincinnati and Northwestern. Would be a 4 year starter if he commits. I think I will get most of these players. The ones I'm most concerned about losing out on are DT Watson and CB Powell, especially Watson, since he's at a position of high need. The most important recruit is RB Osborne. The class is shaping up a little juco-heavy for my liking, but I actually think all of these guys will be very good players, except possibly the 2 DEs. **** #271 FB Daniel Martinez, 6'1", 228, Toledo, OH (8/13) - Will almost certainly crack the two-deep. *** #513 WR Gary Sepulveda, 6'3", 200, New Port Richey, FL (9/10) - Juco, I'm planning to redshirt him for a year. Doesn't look like anything special, but should be fine. *** #999 DE Joseph Moore, 6'8", 252, Chicago, IL (4/11) - I don't think have the luxury of redshirting him, but he doesn't look to be a big impact player. *** #1098 DE William Haynes, 6'2", 259, Lebanon, OH (5/9) - Looks like a dud. I didn't expect much, but it doesn't appear he's going to be very useful at all. **** #108 ILB Cliff Christopher, 6'2", 255, Springport, MI (11/15) - Looks like a stud. He won't like it, but he's going to redshirt. As a juco, there's no danger of him transferring. *** #869 K Alex Fowler, 6'3", 172, Livingston, WI (4/14) - Delighted with his potential. I didn't get much from my kickers last year, but I'm pleased with the two incoming freshmen. Edward Watson now has an offer from Michigan State, in addition to the one he had from Minnesota. I pulled the offer off of John Powell, as I was sick of waiting for him to make up his mind. Also, with Christopher on board, James Smith is no longer considering us, so I've decided to bring a QB in this class. New offers: **** #246 CB(A) Jonathan Britton, 5'11", 153, Oostburg, WI - no other offers. Also a QB to be named later - there's a highly ranked Juco in Wisconsin, but I don't really want a juco, so I'm scouting the 3 stars, hoping to find somebody decent. |

We're projecting to start 4 seniors and 1 junior next year. He's got an offer from Notre Dame, but Minnesota apparently pulled their offer after landing Watson. Fingers crossed on this one. |

2 commits, just 1 more spot:
**** #252 FS Fred Judge, 6'2", 194, North Bend, OH (6/14) - rejected LSU *** #575 DT John Moody, 6'6", 256, Westosha Central, WI (1/13) Milton Bland actually did go to Minnesota, I may have had some bad info there - or possibly if I had pulled the offer from Moody, he would have come here. Dunno. Last edited by st.cronin : 04-01-2008 at 07:16 PM. |
