It seems awfully convulated, no? What would the DEA be waiting for at this point? They'd have more then enough evidence to arrest Walt for life and bring down the whole ring at this point.

They would also know that Walt bugged Hank's office. So would everything they be saying in Hank's office be just for show?

While it's possible, I find it very unlikely for all the reasons above and becuase it doesn't fit Jesse's character at all.

Man this show is dark. Just got done watching Sunday's episode and when I went outside with the dog (on a beautiful day) I felt depressed. Kudos to the writers for creating such a great script. Sadly I feel like the downward spiral is really in full swing now and the rest of the epiosodes are going to be like watching a trainwreck. (especially next week which if I'm not mistaken is it for a while)

i think next week ends the way the season started, with Walt picking up a car full of guns in New Hampshire.

He takes Saul's disappear card and makes plans to come back and exact his revenge for the second half of the season.

I would be surprised if that's the case.

I think Walt said he was from New Hampshire, but was still in New Mexico. Also, if he wasn't lying about it being his 52nd birthday, the show would have to make an unprecendented leap in time, since he just turned 51.

That said, I have no idea how this half-season will end.

It's been great so far. Sucks to have to wait another year to get resolution.

I see Todd learning how to cook then trying to eliminate Walt. There's something shady about that guy. Maybe Jesse and/or Skyler helps him. Skyler wants Walt to die anyway.

My initial reaction as well. Its not uncommon for the next to last episode to be the big explosive one I suppose.

Last 8 episodes to mirror The Shield a bit perhaps? With the good guys slowly collapsing in on the bad guys that they were once so close to?

I am happy for the end result, but the way it came about was terrible.

I felt the last 8 episodes had to be Walt vs. Hank.....but

The way Walt was discovered was so bad. Leaving that book there was so out of character for Walt. Very lazy writing.

In reality, that book pretty much gives Hank everything he needs to connect Walt to Gail, and prove he's Heisenberg.

Yeah I have to agree. Walt pretty much covered every possible track. Hid the poison under the light switchcover, disposed of the kid's bike parts in acid, had all witnesses killed at the same time... But he is just going to leave a book from Gus sitting on his toilet? Seems pretty lazy. If they want Hank to get on his trail they should have had a picture of him talking to Mike show up at the DEA office or have Hank see him dropping off a bag at the "junkie" Jessie's house. The toilet read was a little too convienent.

Well I think we had to know that the only way Hank would ever focus on Walt as Heisenburg was when/if Walt got sloppy. Otherwise, no way Hank would have looked at Walt as a meth kingpin.

Isn't this the only story that's left, though? We have to see Walt and Hank do battle.

The marriage is over. Walt can run a drug empire. Walt has killed his two most powerful adversaries. We've seen Jesse's story - he's Dorian Gray's portrait.

Walt is too calculating not to figure out what he needs to do to cover his tracks. The mistake had to be emotional. That book meant a lot to him - it's his trophy with Gus. He had a blind spot with respect to what that inscription would mean to Hank.

Now we have to see him with his hair back, his cancer out of remission, and on the run from Hank and the FBI. What will be interesting is what he will have learned from the journey. Will we feel sad or indifferent? Will Walt still be the guy capable of poisoning a child to secure a key loyalty? Or something entirely different?

As long as he doesn't end up healthy and back in Skylar's arms, I'm looking forward to next year.

eh, keeping anything that could in any way tie him to that world is being sloppy imo, but I don't feel like the way it happened was cheap as it was suggested somewhere above. To me it feels completely in character that Walt would keep something like that around, and maybe even forget about it as months went by.

I refuse to assign much culpability to Walt in the plane crash. Jane pretty much got what she deserved. She was a junkie who Od'd and was blackmailing Walt. Her dad fucked up...it wasn't Walt's fault.

Hank certainly has a few problems going forward. The book may be enough to convince Hank that Walt is Heisenberg, but it doesn't seem like it would be enough evidence on its own to hold up as a case. Second, it could easily make Hank look bad if the case against Walt were to go forward. Not only the financial issue where Hank's medical bills (and possibly other financial needs) were paid for with drug money, but it could be made to look like Hank was helping Walt out. Hank coming across and killing Tuco, the person who killed Gus seeking him out just before he did it, Mike vanishing when no one outside of the police and DEA should have known about his potential arrest plus Mike's guys all being killed just after Hank turned down a deal from one of them. It could look like Hank was taking out Walt's competition and protecting him from anyone who could testify against him. If Walt finds out Hank is onto him before Hank tells anyone else at the DEA Walt could threaten to take Hank down with him. Maybe there's not enough for charges to be brought against Hank, but it could shorten his career with the DEA. Hank also has to be ok with what it would do to the rest of the family.

Hank will really need to act carefully, really looking forward to see how he proceeds as I'm not convinced he'll turn Walt in immediately. It seems like Walt has more problems than just law enforcement in the second half of the season. The machine gun doesn't seem like something Walt would get as a long term plan to fend off the DEA.

The chart doesn't list Walt as responsible for the plane crash, the S₂FcDm means it's in Season 2 by flight collision with Don Margolis as the responsible party.

I think part of it was ignoring Hank when he wanted to investigate Fring, but as I mentioned a couple posts up there's plenty of other stuff to make Hank look even worse than his old boss.
