FOF Reporter 1.7b released

For those that are interrested in it, I have just made version 1.7 of my FOF Reporter HTML generation utility (Here's the description thread if you don't know what I am talking about http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/for...threadid=19606). Its been so long since I've worked on it, that I''ve forgotten most of what was different from 1.6, but here's an accurate (everything in the list is in there, but it may not be everything) list:

Added in new College draft page which lists the players selected in each round from each college (which has had players drafted).
Added new Awards page listing awards and award teamsAdded awards history to players page, listing each award the player has won, as well as times placed in to top 10 of the leaderboard
Enhanced Draft history page to contain career stats and awards won
Changed default generation folder to be c:\\sample\\{savegamenumber}\\ so that multiple save games will not overwrite each other
Made destination folder save game specific rather than being a part of the template set
Added ability to save template configurations to a file and to load setting back in
Added in ftp component which will upload your files to a specified ftp server after generation (can be enabled, disabled or set to ask and is save game specific).
probably more but its been a while.

You can find the Reporter here: http://www.fidosoft.com/FOF/page.viewproject.php?ID=1

For those of you on the early release list who may be wondering where 1.8 is...I'm goin to wrap up two more things and build an installation. I'll post a message here with what's new (to tease everyone else ) and send you e-mails or PMs to let you know where to find it.

Ack! I'm getting a runtime error after I hit 'generate'. Never had any problems with the prior version.

From the e-mail I just sent you:

Quote:
Here's a list of what's new/fixed in 1.8:
  • Completely reworked Teams pages. I think for the better. Now there's a common header and a drop-down list from which you select what part of the team details you want to see.
  • Completely redid the style sheets. It makes some pages look less nice, but its better for customization. There used to be multiple style sheets (players, teams, leaders, standing, playoffs) and now there's just one. This provides consistence across all pages, and changes to that one file Will affect all pages.
  • Fixed crash when no single player save games are present.
  • Fixed (I hope this time) the issue with career records that exceed 32767.
  • Added in error reporting tool.
  • Added program group to start menu
  • Fixed garbled awards for some players.
  • Added second bar to charts on player card (and a legend) which shows the leader in the current category.
  • Added in Team composition page - a break down of every team in the league - number of players number of players drafted in each round. Also provides league totals and percentages (note undrafted contains all players drafted after round 7, so this will be somewhat skewed for universes that began with a draft).
  • Added Team statistics page. This is like the player statistics (almost a copy) but rushing, passing, blocking, etc total stats for the team for each year. Each year can be expanded to show all of the players that contributed to the total.
  • Added tackle percent to players page and plot. Note - this is not completely accurate - this is a FOF "shortcoming" - it counts Special teams tacjkes as tackles, so it is possible to have a tackle percent greater than 100.
  • Changed Template selection page to be multiple select so you can remove a lot of entries quicker.(that one was for me)
  • Added 11 new league leader categories (Sacks Allowed, Blocking Pct, Forced Fumbles, Fumble Recoveries, Int Ret Yards, Int Ret TDs, KR TDs, KR Yards, PR Yards, PR TDs, and Tackle Percent). These will show up in the awards section of the player page, but there is no entries in the leaders page for them yet.

Now you can look forward to it

Is there a way to use the reporter if I don't save game logs and box scores? Will parts of it still work?

Better question, which parts still work? I have been trying to use it but I get an error right after I start to generate the file. This still holds true after removing the box scores and game logs from the template.

I'm having some issues also. I can generate files fine, but when I view the sample output there are no stats or history. It's odd because I never had a problem with 1.6b.

Maybe I will tinker around a bit and see if I can figure it out.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I think the error was occuring because I was generating the files during free agency.

I am having problems generating with 1.7 as well. At first it says error processing file: 00000406.fbx could not be read in properly and will not be processed, and then I get a runtime error and the program quits. Any advice?

edit: now I am getting it to export everything but the box scores. I am getting game logs and everything else, but no box scores. I am able to view them from within the FOF game itself, however.

I got a crash when loading a save game without logs or box scores saved, but after I removed the templates for them, I could load the game, and then generate with no problems.

I've removed just the box score and the game log templates but I get a RTE. Are you removing anyother templates?

i've gotten it to work, but it just won't give me the box scores, which I want. I save all the boxscores and gamelogs in the game, which is why this is puzzling me.

Hmmm... no go. I've removed all templates for box scores and game logs.

Fido has an error report, hopefully he can see what is going wrong for me.

Okay, I found a problem. Every time I open a players page I get "Stack overflow at line: 0"

I don't know what that means but I click it once, it pops up again and another click and it's gone. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but it's weird seeing it.

Anybody else have this problem?

Remnants of the old site. Sample can actually be found here:

Copy the default imaper image to platers/images and the default team logo to logos/. There's code in place to try to load up the team logo and player's image, if it doesn't find it then it tires toload up the defaults. If the defaults do not exist, then it goes into a loop.

As for the runtime errors, if someone has a highspeed connection and is willing to send me some files - let m eknow and I'll try to figure it out.

I found out what my problem is, maybe this will help. The FOF reporter was looking for box scores, starting with 00000406.fbx, which didn't exist in my league files, but 00000406.flg did. The box scores and game logs for the same game had different numbers, but the reporter was looking for them as being the same numbered files. The actual box score was a file called 00002310.fbx. So the file the reporter was looking for wasn't there, and I had to go in the "leagues" folder and change these back to match the game log files. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, or if it's an issue with the actual game itself?

I'm getting the runtime error on hitting generate too. I've tried removing box scores and game logs templates but still no go.

What files do you need to check what the problem is, Fido ?

OK, after playing around a little bit with it, solved my problem.

For those who have the same problem, the issue was with the location of the face and logo pack. The default location was wrong and had to be manually corrected to the real directory.

Love those new features Fido. The college draft history is especially cool and really a nice addition, as this info is impossible to get directly from FOF... is there any way you can link to the actual player pages from there ?

eg : if you click on the '54' total number of players drafted from Notre Dame, you get a list of those 54 players, with year drafted, round taken and team. From that page, you click on the player name and voila, here's the guy. Is that doable, and would it be interesting to other FOF players ?

dola - other suggestion. From the team page, is it possible to have a dropdown menu to move from team to team ? Right now, one needs to go back to the team list page and then click on the team.

Quadrola (not my fault if nobody has posted here in the last 5 hours !) -

could you add number of receptions as a stat tracked on the charts of the player card ? (for receivers obviously)

Fido and I talked about this a bit and I wanted to see what the masses thought. I think an excellent addition to the Reporter would be to generate pages similar to www.drafthistory.com. Having detailed pages on teams, colleges, years, position, round, etc would be excellent. I can spend hours looking at that site.

This would obviously add some to the overall size of the data as it would be several pages added into the mix. Does anyone else think this would be helpful?

Fido,
This isn't quite in spirit with generating HTML, but do you think there would be a chance to add the ability to export information to a flat file with your utility?

I am getting this error too. I don't have FOF installed here at work but I have downloaded the league file from the CFL website anmd unzipped it in a directory in "My documents". Could this be the reason...

Make sure you have a single player league on your system. If you are just using this for multiplayer leagues, create a dummy single player game and then try the reporter. Fido has promised a fix for this in 1.8.

As I said, I don't have the game installed here at work. What kind of file is the single player game, what extension? And where should I put it?

Thanks in advance.

The single player game is the same file types, but in the universe folder.

Fido will have to chime in here, but I don't believe the "browse" button goes traipsing over the hard drive to let you pick your game, but rather just lists all the multiplayer/singleplayer games in your installed FOF directory. So you need to have FOF installed to make it work. I think.

I found a problem I don't think has been mentioned.

I generate the files after the Super Bowl. When I view the draft history page the statistics listed on the far right are incorrect. For example it says in 2027 CB Bo Grey played in 15 games (15 starts), 69 tackles, 4 int (1 td), 11 defended. But when I click his profile it shows that he started 16 games, 74 tackles, and 5 interceptions.

It's the same with every player in the draft. No one played more than 15 games, so I assume its not gathering stats for one of the games.

I'm getting the same error. When I hit generate, I get a RTE and the last line in the log is 00000552. Tried starting a new career to see If I could get it work with a freshly started career and I get a RTE and the last line reads "Begining Teams".
