it happens in indie films. maybe he makes a cameo in a bigger film.

'well, i want my producer to direct and my director to act and my actors to do the soundtrack...' there's a zillion directors for funk's sake |

Starring and directing happens plenty.
Jon Favreau in Iron Man. That's a decent sized blockbuster for comparison.

You've got both my reasoning and the 'one example' you asked for hanging out in your inbox. I think you're being unreasonable.

In addition:
-- WildCard can be ANYTHING. An additional actor, cinematographer, music, 3D, etc. so long as it's in use in modern film WildCard: Director is also an actor in film.

Shrug. I've got a guy in mind I wanted to both direct Die Hard and play the role of Hans Gruber.
As I told NTO via PM, the Gruber role is largely expository. He's there to be the scowling "FIND THIS ASSHOLE" figure, and doesn't really ever leave the office area until the very end of the movie. I don't think director/Hans Gruber is a actor/director role that would fuck up the movie. |

I mean, the way CW phrased it is different than how I did in PM, but yeah. This is pretty much it in a nutshell if I couldn't use the director spot as actor/director, that is how the wild card would have been used. |

deep breaths norv... we made a ruling decision. if that tipped your hand my sincerest apologies. my initial ruling was 'sure, but you have to forfeit an actor's slot (effectively the same as using a wild card) you balked let's not make a big deal and move forward |

Which isn't what you said an hour ago. An hour ago you said "If you do this, you'll have to forfeit a slot and only get 9 picks."
But if I'm going to be allowed to use a wild card, fine. 3.15 Director will also have an acting role Last edited by SackAttack : 08-24-2012 at 11:15 AM. |

I actually like that (the wildcard use) better than losing a slot. I wouldn't have been for someone only have 9 slots to everyone else's 10.

Agree with CW, and the Wild Card slot can be anything, including an extra actor. So having the director direct and act as a Wild Card does not violate the spirit of the category.

This filmis driven by the interactions of the characters played by Fassbender, Hardy, and Renner. Absolutely geeked to get all three.

lol. way to misrepresent. I asked, in my very first PM, if actor/director would be viable or if, barring that, I could use a wild card. See, because I realized right off that just doing actor/director might open up a can of worms since some directors had already been taken, etc, and the use of that as a tactic anybody could use might cause problems. But you're conveniently ignoring that in pushing this narrative that I wanted 11 spots. Good job. Asshole. Last edited by SackAttack : 08-24-2012 at 11:34 AM. |

Okay, in the end isn't this semantics? The WC seems the easy solution. So let's roll forward with it and go from there.

4.1 Producer, Brad Pitt
Pitt has produced some of my favorite character driven-movies, including The Departed, Moneyball, and the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Pretty sure he is ready for this challenge.

Yeah, I'm thinking at the end I'll just have McClain and Gruber rip off their masks and reveal to the audience that they're actually Romeo and Benvolio. And Holly is really Juliet, but only if I can use a time machine to get the young Olivia Hussey to play her. |
