Texas A&M / COllege Station TX and Mobile, AL - Results

Hello folks!

I am flying out to College Station tomorrow for an interview with TAMU. I know we have some folks here from that area and school. Anything I should know before heading out, or what to look out for or inquire about?

I'm also flying to Mobile on Sunday for a Monday interview with Spring Hill College. Again any Mobile thoughts I should have in mind? Thanks!

Going 96 on Rt. 6 is not a good idea, FYI.

Its 4 lanes now, so that shouldnt be a problem Just be sure to slow down while burning thru the tiny towns. I've left plenty of money in each for city improvements.

Interesting and best of luck!

I can tell you that A&M is trying very hard to project itself as a world class institution, trying to get away from the good-old boy, country image thats generally been accepted. It has been a major ambition for the university for several years. Since I was there in the late 90's, one of their major focuses has been trying to become more diverse in its student population. Being a highly respected engineering school, A&M is very attractive to certain demographics. Still, I would reckon that when walking across campus, you'd see alot more white than anything else. And I'm sure that whites-only image was solidified by the event in the last month or so, when some dipshits in a dorm started yelling crap at a visiting group of prospective students, of which the races were mixed.

It really is a great place and has so much going for it. But I must warn you - the humidity sucks serious ass and the summers there are scorchers.

I'm here in College Station The office has multiple openings, and I think I could make the top X where X in teh number of spots they have, even if I'm not #1.

I just called up TAMU to get an update on that job as well, and it's on a temporary hold while they finish up the year, and then will move on candidates in a week or two. That's a good place to be, because I don;t have to worry about competing offers or figuring which job and which place I prefer. It's all Mobile

Yeah!

I had Red Beans and Rice for the first time last night, it was good. Looking forward to local delicacies like Shrimp and Grits. Everyone here is a lot nicer than CT, I can tell you that. And CT wasn't bad. But, you get it.
