Screen saver Problem
Noticed a few days ago that my screen saver wasn't coming on. I've gone through the display->screen saver and adjusted options, applied changes, etc. Nothing. When I try to preview the screensaver, it will stay on for about 1 second. I haven't made any changes to the system, no new programs/hardware/etc. I did a restore to about a week ago, and the issue is still there. Any clues?

Have you checked the normal things that would keep a screen saver from coming on? Anything on your computer desk vibrating enough to move the mouse, any stuck keys on the keyboard? Have you pulled and re-connected the mouse and keyboard cables? Any bluetooth devices near the computer? Have you done a sweep for spyware? It sounds like your screen saver is working, but something is preventing your computer from being truly idle.

Sometimes when I watch something with media player or VLC afterwards my monitors wont shut off until I reboot the computer again. Im guessing the program is forgetting to tell the computer its ok to go back to normal when I close it or something. Does the screensaver work if you do a fresh boot?

Check your keyboard and mouse to see if any of the rarely used buttons are stuck down. Like the F12 button.
