OK, after watching this play over and over again, it really appears to me that the ball could not have gone out inside the pylon. Bailey was at the 2 yard line when the ball got knocked out, and I can't see how it went 2 yards forward before it went one yard sideways. Obviously, I'm no expert, but it just doesn't seem possible to me.

I understand. I just wish it wasn't happening this way. I'd rather switch this one with the regular season one so all he could say was...they beat us and beat us solidly.

Bailey just got tired. He wasn't showboating.

I couldn't tell on the replay. That was as inconclusive as you can get. If NE does end up going out in this game, and again, I'm not saying they will go out in this game. . . it'd be an interesting way for it to happen. How many NE games over the last four years have went like this?

With one team controlling the game in the second half, ready to take the lead and having their hearts cut open by a questionable call or two and a turnover in the red zone?

Denver has a lot of work left. I imagine the Pats are livid now. I can't see Brady making another mistake tonight.

Every time I hear people talk bout how Brady never makes mistakes, I think about that Monday night game against the Dolphins when he threw that no-look pic that even Aaron Brooks would have been ashamed of. The guy ain't perfect. And frankly, he's been off for at least half of this game. A lot of off-line passes we usually don't see from him.

A full quarter and one Tom Brady is still a scary combination when you are holding a lead.

You heard simms say it himself. The ball went right over the pylon.

If it was an offensive player with the ball going over the pylon, it's IN.

But hopefully we can come back.

I agree, having watched it a few times on my TIVO. Also, there certainly wasn't conclusive evidence it was a TB. That was a good call IMO.

you mean aside from kysup's comment, and people complaining about the referrering being slanted against their team. Whatever man. Continue overreacting to a football game. I completely respect what the Pats have done, but I'm just tired of people looking for an excuse as to why they're losing right nw. And my team is sitting at home right now, somehow blowing the reggie bush sweepstakes, so no, I don't have a horse in this race.

I don't think he was showboating, but I wouldn't say he was "tired" either. I'd say he didn't run out the play. He slowed down cause he thought he was out of danger.

Simms was also trying to give a lesson on geometry and was trying to draw a 2D line on a moving 3D replay to determine where the ball went out. He's a moron.

This is exactly what happened. I think he just assumed no one was still with him and quite obviously let up. He really, really, really lucked out.

Oh and I agree with the inconclusive bit about the fumble.

That said, the refs should have declared it a touchback, cause they owed the Pats for that horrible call on the PI in the first half.

Yes, this is really more what I mean. I guess he wasn't really showboating. I'd say it exactly as you did.

It's not just Bailey. He had two guys with him that should have been looking for somebody to block, and Watson ran right by them. Eh, it didn't matter.

The complaint is primarily about one call, which everyone on both sides acknowledges was a horrible call. I haven't seen any excuses being made in this thread. And who overreacts to football games, someone who randomly pops in and insults an entire fan base who is also watching their team play or someone who finally gets tired of seeing it and says something?

One guy was trying to block someone, unfortunately he pcked a guy who had no shot to get him, so he slowed down to block him. The other guy I agree, he quit on the play, but Watson seemed to come at such an unexpected angle.

Yeah, if that call had gone against Denver, I'd be pissed about giving up a cheap TD. As it is, I just think that was the Football Gods' way of giving Shanahan a second chance at getting a goal line call right. The 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 calls were horrid.

Wow... Signs of the apocolypse:

1. Brady misses an open WR for a TD in the 4th quarter.
2. Vinatieri misses a FG in the playoffs.
