Our throw-ins have been terrible as well. That last throw in was just comical.

i second this. give me dempsey, or (more likely) bring on Johnson and go to a 4-3-1-2 with Landon in the hole and get some fucking shots

Time to go to a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3

Eh, first one I give to lewis/convey .. too easy of a cross, and Pope is way too short to cover that.

Second one I thought was Gooch, but if not I take back what I said.

either way, the defense has been a letdown and the offense hasn't had any good buildup...basically we've been shite all around

Agreed.

I don't even blame O'Brien, because he's not a soccer guy. Balboa is pretty useless, though.

I guess the only guys who haven't been total disappointments have been Reyna - and to a lesser extent Donovan and McBride (because they haven't seen the ball much).

As an Arsenal fan, can I be a tiny bit excited by Rosicky's goal?

I am going for the US, but there is a part of me that got so tired of hearing all of the "experts" on ESPN going on about how we are on the same level of the top teams and would tie or win this game. It's an incredibly hard group and we are, at best, the third-best team in it. Still I hope they can come back in the second half.

The Czechs have been doing some tremendous marking all over the field. They clearly have no fears of individual dribbling skills of anyone.

Balboa makes me wish for Tommy Smith. It's like the NFL Sunday Night team.

BBC & ITV do the WC coverage, may change for next one, but it's considered important enough to keep to terrestial rather than subscription services.

I thought Johnson would go on for Beasley too.

I think the term "lacking imagination" would describe the US attack right now.

I'll take either. I think you'd pull your hair out if they switched the US commentators for the BBC. 90 minutes of Beckham's hairdo.

We need to stop injuring the Czech players. We need them to beat Italy and Ghana for us to have a chance.

You really wouldn't like the Budweiser commercials on ITV at the beginning and end of every ad break then... Sounds like they actually could be the normal US commentators instead of the parodies I assumed they were

They seemingly get a great chance on every opportunity, while we get 15 possessions without a shot

No doubt the Czechs are a great team. But the US isn't doing themselves any favors with the way they've been playing.

The US team seems to be taking the Bode Miller approach to international competitions.
