Over/under on % of people in this draft being the same as historical person draft last year? I'm going with 80% ( i know this is snarky, but Imhotep was by far the best late round surprise pick last time and i fear little surprise here)

Interesting on religious picks. So far they have all been the charismatic originator, not the brilliant second generation administrator/writer/leader

He was going to be my last pick but I though Larry would wait a little so I can make the choice myself. However I feel like I have a solid plan in place to at least not finish last.

Sorry about that, Noop.

From now on, if anyone sends me a list, please let me know if you want me to wait on using it. I can wait up to an hour before picking from it.

I also added a timeline count so you can keep track of your pre-20th/20th picks.

Remember, they have to even out at 7-7.

Noop with two good picks after a questionable first one. BK stole my 3rd rounder, so great pick there.

I think Imhotep was an early rounder in that draft too. And yes, I am sure many picks will be the same, still because of the country limitation and different categories, there will still be different ones. I know for me, some categories I have a little different outlook on then the other draft.

Heh. This pick is invalid because of Marco Polo. What's funny is someone else already tried to pick him.

Ah right, I keep forgetting Marco Polo's Italian. And I literally woke up 5 minutes ago.

3.6 Otto von Bismarck - Chief Diplomat - Pre-20th Century

Largely responsible for the unification of Germany, his diplomacy and statecraft was magnificent, both in terms of bringing the independent German states together in one nation and empire and in dealing with international powers. His Iron and Blood speech is still quite famous and he greatly illustrated the practical application of Machiavelli's realist political philosophy or, as it's called in German, realpolitik.

of course not. making up a list so far ahead of time greatly limits one's ability to respond, or think creatively. i hate doing it, and thus will only do it if absolutely necessary

Otto was a solid choice for either Diplomat OR Ruler/Leader.

Thanks. I agree he's multi-category, but I feel like Ruler/Leader is much deeper than Diplomat.

I'd agree that Bismark is a better choice in Diplomat given the strengths. A very solid pick, no doubt.

No problem. I didn't mean it in a bad way. Just wanted to let everyone know that I wouldn't be picking.

i was just praying after my last pick that nobody would go justice + USA and block me.

there are maybe a couple others that i could have picked from around the world, but marshall was an institution in and of himself on the early court and his rulings helped to shape the nation. i really can't ask for much more.

it was between picking marshall now, or going with a different category this round, and frankly i didn't think the justice+usa combo would slide till 4.5
