Yes, but it was close. Iffy call all the way. Maybe the refs didn't like the stick Thomas had on Turco, and so were looking for an excuse to overturn the goal? Bah...either way, let's watch OT #4!!!

NO WAY Hatcher gets another goal. If the hockey gods are fair, it will be Kapanen. That kid has played his ass off.

Ok, did you see it there? That goal moved a bunch. I just can't say whether it was off its moorings from the top view tho, so I'm not sure how they saw that as conclusive.

Ah, this is where it gets even more fun. Where they keep putting up "Nth longest game in NHL History". Reminds me of that Pit/Phi 4OT game a couple of years ago.

Which is worse? A cold goalie or a tired one who hasn't given up a goal in 60 minutes of play time? Tough call and at what point would you make it? 70 minutes? 80 minutes?

Here's a question: Would you rather see a multi-overtime game such as this or one that is decided by penalty shots?

Linda Cohen and her hockey hating ass can kiss mine! I remember her looking irritated and frustrated during some 3OT intermission a couple of years ago and just thinking "I know you're a little tired but try to look professional. There's more sports than your beloved hoops".

For the record. This is the first time I have been happy the Ducks won. The other four all sucked ass.

Wow, a sticky hockey thread. Excellent!

HB, you missed an amazing game. Maybe they'll have it on replay there. It's not the same thing, but pretty much from 15 left in the 3rd period to 3OT, it's just really exciting. Then teams got tired but that goal that ended it was not a cheapie.

Wow, five OT's; makes me hate having to get up at 3:15, I miss all the cool OT games. Too bad they couldn't go six, I probably could have caught the end when I woke up! Good game by both teams, its a killer when you lose in these situations.

Well, it's more of "Toronto-hating" than "Leaf-hating". Anyone here in the hinterland in Calgary could explain it to you.

But then, stereotypes are a bad thing, and bbor and Maple Leafs are cool.

And though when Toronto comes to town, half the 'Dome is wearing Leaf sweaters, and when Montreal comes to town, half the 'Dome is wearing Hab jerseys...

...there are still some Flames fans around (actually a lot, considering our average attendance despite missing the playoff for 7 f*%$#@$ years).

True, true. If it makes you feel any better, I have a friend here in Kansas from Calgary who loves the Flames. It's fun when I get together with him and a Rangers fan whose a buddy of mine and we try to see who will lose the least games each year. He's in dental school, currently- his dream is to work for an NHL team

That game was absolutely amazing! Instant Classic if ever there was one. Of course, I had to watch it while at work, and everyone in the Pizza place was watching the Lakers/T'Wolves, morons. One TV for the Hockey game For the first hour of my shift, I didn't get ANYTHING done.

Guys, thank SkyDog for sticky'ing this for us, I asked him and he was cool with that, we just need to let him know when the season is over!

Now, onto last nights game! I went to bed after the 4th OT The least they could have done is play a few more OTS!

Tonight we have Ottawa-Philly and Vancouver-MN, any thoughts?

Sach, didn't Dallas watch the Anaheim-Det series?!

I second that motion, with Tampa and Vancouver being my backup teams if those ones should falter.

If it's Dallas v NJ in the finals I'll be one unhappy camper.

I am upset I missed it. I left to go out right when OT started but there was no TV with game on. About 12:30, a friend stopped by and said it was in the 3rd OT and then when I got home I saw on the Bottom Line 5OTs and was stunned. Hopefully it will be on ESPN classic soon.

No shootouts, please. They may be exciting, but they're one-dimensional and contrived, a terrible way to decide a game. Not much different from having a home-run hitting contest to decide a baseball game, or a slam dunk contest to decide an NBA game.

I'm not a fan of the shootout, especially if my team was being coached by Marc Crawford. I can see it now:

"Naslund, take a seat. We're gonna send Murry Baron out for this one, he's 1-for-1 on penalty shots in his career and you're 0-for-1. He's cleary the better option".

Yup, and they tried to get bodies in front of the net. If we can put 3 up on Guigere in the next few, I see Dallas winning in 6.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Stars respond. Both goalies played exceptionally from the 3rd period on. Can't wait for Saturday!

I think Robert Riechel would enjoy a shootout(ASSHAT!)

My heart is with Vancouver...although i find it hard to cheer against the Wild...they are an incredibly gutsy team

It would be nice to crown a new champion this season that has'nt won in a long time or ever.

While I'm on the fence about penelty shots deciding games in the regular season (after the OT period, of course), I would be 100% against penelty shots in the playoffs. Multi-OT games is part of what makes playoff hockey so exciting!

Some trivia from last night's Stars/Ducks game:

- It was the fourth longest game in NHL history
- Sergei Zubov set a new NHL record for ice-time in a single game (although that's only been officially tracked for about five years)
- JS Giguere has joined Patrick Roy as only the second goalie to ever record two playoff performances of 60+ saves.
- The record for saves in a playoff game, by the way, is 73 by Kelly Hrudey (in a game seven). Belfour had 72 this year.

Finally, a trivia quesiton: Roy's first 60 save game was against Boston in 1994. The player who scored the winning goal in the game was also playing last night. Name him.
