Does that mean graduating seniors play after graduation or 8th graders (potentially) could play before they start 9th grade? Just curious.

I played my HS baseball in Iowa. Yes. You get 5 years of eligibility. A couple stories for you. I made our Babe Ruth all star team in 8th grade. We knew of a kid from a small town nearby who threw 90. We were all kind of worried. We found out he decided to play HS instead. We were happy. About 6 years ago another small town near where I grew up won the state softball championship with an 8th grade pitcher.

The other cool thing was,, unlike other sports and states who have a limited amount of games and tourneys you could play, Iowa had a certain amount of days you could play. Teams would end up playing 50+ games during the season because we always played double headers.

In Kentucky, 7th and 8th graders are eligible for high school sports. And that just changed a few years ago. Small schools used to field teams with 5th graders. It has basically turned some middle school sports into rec leagues because the best 7th/8th graders are pulled up to HS and middle school teams are left for other kids.

I'd love to. My wife my not like the idea of internet strangers showing up to our house though. It would take some explaining.

Growing up playing high school sports in WV I remember the stories of 5th and 6th graders playing varsity football. IIRC the old rule was if they were schooled in the same building they were eligible or something like that.

Its been 20 years since I have pursued such activities...I think statute of limitations has ran out, and to be fair I dont know how much inflation has influenced pricing...
But DAYUM...unless you are sharing, or you are paying a premium..thats about 5x more than I think Id have even felt "safe" attempting - IF IT WERE free - in my wildest of days...

My bro and I were looking at this wiki for some musician(Phil Driscoll) who we got forced to listen to a lot in the car with my parents. He made that claim that he was using 5K worth of coke a day. I think it’s roughly 2oz of coke a day or 16 8 balls. I dunno if coke is cheaper now or not. But 16 8 balls seems like a fuck ton.

Ah yes, the most renowned Christian trumpet player ever most likely.

Indicted in the same federal sting that snared actress Linda Blair in the late 70s, he eventually plead multiple coke trafficking charges down to misdemeanor possesion.

20 years later he winds up behind federal bars for a year anyway, for a separate tax evasion scheme.

Would you settle for a movie, with Danny Glover & Brian Dennehy?
Or how about a 3D movie, just to ramp things up?
(No, I don't know why a standard prison drama needed 3D)

Went into production in 2012 apparently, still listed in post-production on IMDB (under the title Long Days Journey), I've seen a couple of sketchy sites suggest that it released in 2015 but can't verify that.

Yep, I had to Google it.

I didn't sample it, just enough reading to confirm that I had no clue what you were talking about

Guessing a lot of people have heard of this guy already, but I've watched more videos of this guy eating old MREs than I care to admit. Kind of interesting to see what different countries do with theirs too.

Will and I both have the "Let's get this out onto a tray" t-shirts

He's absolutely one of the best watches on YouTube, bar none. A perfect example of the best of YT: someone doing something they enjoy, and sharing it.

He's also scary knowledgeable about the subject.

So for my 18 year old's senior trip, he went to the Indiana Dunes State Park with a couple of buddies, figuring there are not a ton of people that will be heading that way, etc., etc.

So they are up there, at the beach and these huge guys come up and they play catch. As they leave I get a phone call, "Dad, I think we either just played football with some ex-NFL guys or college guys. They were huge and the way they were moving, they have played at a high level."

Meanwhile, I hear the guys (two brothers) in the back of the car arguing, "That one is Khalil Mack, the other one looked like Jordan Howard."

"They are not!"

"It totally makes sense, they're best friends!"

"It is not... Oh wait, look at this picture, the girl they were with totally looks like (someone's) girlfriend."

Long story short, my son may have been playing catch with Khalil Mack and Jordan Howard for two hours at the Indiana Dunes State Park.

Okay, is it JUST me ... or is social media noticeably dumber today?

No matter what constitutes dumb/stupid to you, does it seem worse? Like, is there a full moon or something?

(I've actually had two people message me today with basically that same question, with their observation based on entirely different content than what I see)

Well, in the US anyways, a major decision by SCOTUS on abortion is going to make social media go nuts for a bit.

Has had no impact on what I saw though (unless it brought nuts outta the woodwork maybe).

That particular topic though literally hasn't crossed my social media a single time all day so far. (Indeed, I'm only aware of it because it showed up in those incredibly obnoxious Yahoo News ads beseiging app games lately)

I think stress makes people lash out and express things in a not very productive manner. And there's a lot to be stressed about. We've all been guilty of that at some point. Some just have a little more restraint, or contain it to limited forums. Or they have other coping mechanisms that don't involve social media.

I get that, I mean, I think just about everybody is losing patience with (and on) social media.

But why TODAY seemed to be so far over the top is what has me puzzled. It's like people had a long weekend & are trying to make up for lost time or something but it wasn't a holiday or anything afaik.

It's ... weird.

So I just ate some BLTs with some "organic" lettuce. Yet when I stared down at my plate there was green worm on it.

I am never eating organic again.

Makes me think of the joke about "finding half of a worm"

That said, my non-organic romaine heads I get from Kroger sometimes has the yellow ladybug looking things in them. I think it's a "bugs like produce" sort of thing more than an organic thing.

Romaine lettuce is the worst. Seems like every 3 months they have some sort of E. coli issue with it. My guess is it must make the best toilet paper or something

There was a video recently about soaking your strawberries in salt water. You could see small "worms" come out. We did that one time and did not see signs of worms but it's gotten me a little leery about strawberries.

All I can think here is ... where da fuck are you people buying groceries?

I'm 53 years old and come from a long line of "you always wash lettuce" people but damned if I've ever found a worm in it.

Did a quick search on the strawberry one, fruit flies can lay an egg in there, but the maggot is translucent and it is harmless to humans.

Yes, we wash it but doesn't help because they are inside the strawberry. Salt water gets them out.

Check it out about 20 secs in.
