Yeah, I think it's unlikely Day is fired after these two wins.

But I think they'll take a big step back next year no matter what because of all of the people they are losing. Next year is probably his last.

Ducks rushing was non-existant, 28 for -23. Not sure I’ve ever seen it that bad?

James went out with an injury too. Probably didn't make a lot of difference given the score but some impact.

Kinda silly now to have confetti and a big trophy presentation for what is essentially the equivalent of an NFL Divisional round game.

I think I agree with Joel Klatt that the college football playoff championship game should be held in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. That would largely fix the portal timing issue. If the season needs to start a little earlier to accommodate the playoffs ending on January 1, I'd be good with that.

Meh, how else will the Bowl CEOs earn their salaries? I'm fine with teams getting to celebrate bowl wins in lieu of a title, obviously the national champion will win two bowls & a national title, the loser just gets two bowls. it's clunky, especially relative to FCS, et al but grafting a playoff onto the existing system was always gonna be a bit weird.

Obviously, a lousy reason to move the Sugar Bowl to today. But strictly as a CFB fan, I do like this additional day of CFB.

Hope its a good game but feels it could become a blowout for either team. Dawgs without Beck and ND with a less than impressive SoS.

I was already worried, but what happened yesterday has me even more worried. I do think that the extra time off helped in Georgia's case though. It gave them time to adjust the offense around Stockton and hopefully get them in sync.

I was looking forward to actually being able to watch the Sugar Bowl since I worked until 7 last night and then again today. Moving the game to 4P today is awful for my CFB viewing as it means I’ll miss this one like I missed the games yesterday.

Unless he's open to a position switch, that's probably a REALLY good thing.

Much as I hate to say it, at full speed in real time I had that as roughing not running into

Go Irish, but that feels like a missed call to me.

Riley Leonard looking like the Riley Leonard we're used to.

Will there be an offensive point this game?

I'm surprised running into the punter isn't one of those penalties you can just accept and add on to the return instead of having to decline.

Georgia looks better throwing than running even without Mills? ND might just be getting lucky timing some run blitzes but Stockton looks accurate. Thought we got away with roughing on the first one as well, can't believe Young hit him the 2nd time (even if that was weaker) and lined up offsides, maybe just give him the 2nd quarter off. Laxbro Faison has been our best weapon, he's uncoverable in space (and I swear his little brother is even shiftier).

OSU can show up like they did at Michigan, but when they play to their potential they look better than anyone else right now.

Most likely a GPA padder.

He's one of two kids from the same small private school who've walked on there, the other one (who had graduated) was killed in a car crash just a couple weeks ago. Same last name, but I don't know if/how they're related (not his brother, based on the obituary)

My son's little private has had at least one walk-on on their roster for most of the past 5-7 years now, same reason basically.

That makes sense. Looking at his HS stats doesn't scream D1 recruit.

Isn't faking an injury supposed to be a penalty now? Like it's obvious he's not injured and just couldn't get his shoe on in time.

There's actually a 3rd player with the same last name from the same tiny school who was also a walk-on for their last nat'l c'ship. (but not the brother of the recent tragedy, maybe today's "star" brother?)

And that's pretty common with this kind of thing. A sort of GPA pipeline can get started and last for a decade or more.

81-21.

That's the first half margin for teams who didn't have a bye before their quarterfinal game

Did the NCAA put that in yet? It 100% should be next year even if refs will be loathe to call it, started getting egregious and felt like SEC teams were at the forefront of that (Ole Miss and Kiffin come to mind, but maybe he's just so loud about everything.)

Don't think ND is "better" and we're a little lucky so far, but we're creating our own luck on defense and we've been doing that all year - 148 points off turnovers now, #2 is 106? Crazy. Seen so many Georgia comebacks and sounds like we'll stay aggressive, might need another strip sack or a big Xavier Watts pick at some point in the 2nd half to hold on, fingers crossed.

I think the bye team part is overblown - we all thought ASU & Boise were big dogs, Ohio State is the most talented team in the country when they're clicking, and Georgia would probably struggle to score vs ND - but if it leads to a 16 team playoff instead of 14 or something I'm cool with it. Also have no problem staying at 12 and just tweaking the seeding like I proposed earlier.

It was bad in the Big 12 several years ago when everyone was running versions of the Air Raid. It's frustrating, as any time WVU would get a drive going under Dana Holgorsen and trying to play fast an opposing player would go down, especially in non conference games. It gets to where fans start booing injuries, which isn't a good look for anyone.

Or get it back down to no more than 4, because that's plenty given the shortage of even good teams at this point.

I have seen so many downfield passes dropped this year that I start flinching when I see a wide open receiver.

Pretty shocking to see ND giving up trying to win at the point of attack, but beating an SEC team with speed on the edges? Playing against type for sure. Loved Al Golden staying aggressive on 4th & short but if we can get even 3 more here maybe we can dial back any 0 coverage looks despite Georgia's drop propensity. (Also felt like we just blew some coverages on crossers that TD drive.)
