Anyone ever rent a dumpster?
I think I've finally reached my breaking point and I have to clean my garage or I'm going to lose my mind. Has anyone here ever rented a dumpster? I just need a big bin to chuck a bunch of useless crap in and have it hauled away.

Yes, used it to clear a park in our neighborhood. It's quite affordable.

Yup, did it to toss a bunch of stuff from basement and small stuff. Google in your area, find the one that has halfway acceptable pricing, they'll want to know size and how many days, pretty simple.
In retrospect, we could have given some of that to neighbors (I live in a 400+ subdivision), so maybe try that first. Speaking of which ... Some neighbors may ask if they can dump some stuff in your dumpster. One came by and wanted to toss some old rolled up carpet. Depending on slope/grade of your driveway, you may get some divets, scratches etc. in the concrete. Toss the big stuff first and position them properly in the dumpster to make max use of space. |

IIRC we were able to rent one from our town. I would start there.

In NY trash collection is private and we were able to get a dumpster through our trash collection company.

Check and see if your garbage service offers a bulk pickup. Ours does like 16 bags for 10$. Don't do the 30$ish debris bag thing from Home Depot. It's a waste of money. It costs 100 to pick up.

Back in the day, we used 1-800-Got-Junk to haul away some things that had collected in our garage. Worked well from what I remember.

Both rented a dumpster and also got 1-800-Got-Junk on another occasion. Both worked out well. 1-800-Got-Junk is more, but useful if it's a lot of crap you don't want to shift yourself.
