Haven't verified this yet, but if you spell the full and correct names of the artists / bands, doesn't each one have a different number of total letters?

M (1)
U2
REM
Asia
Oasis (5)
Staind
Lou Vega
The Verve
David Gray
Eddie Money (10)
Pet Shop Boys
Talking Heads
The Rembrandts
Michael Jackson
Weird Al Yankovic (15)
Dave Matthews Band
Simon and Garfunkel
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Cherry Poppin Daddies
Hootie and the Blowfish (20)
Dashboard Confessional
Frankie Goes to Hollywood (22)

How's that?

By the way, it's Weird Al Yankovic ... no h

honestly, I don't know, is it Verve or The Verve?

That may lead to a solution, but I doubt it.

That's it there. We decode the message as being:

"Movie Starring Jamie Bell."

Which appears to be Billy Elliot. For whatever that's worth.

If you take the first letter of each missing word in that order it might spell something.

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know if it's any good or not.

Of course to take the puzzle a step further, Billy Elliot could also be a reference to Bill Elliot the NASCAR driver, who races against Kevin Harvick, who we all know is the favorite driver of...you guessed it, our favorite banned king of unintentional comedy...Happy29.

So, this was all an elaborate ruse by QS to bring up Happy29.

OR...we can take this another route. Billy Elliot could also be a reference to Bill Elliot the NASCAR driver, which could be a reference to Days of Thunder which is a movie about NASCAR starring Tom Cruise, who was in the movie Cocktail with Elizabeth Shue, who was in the movie Hollow Man with...you guessed it:

Kevin Bacon.

So, this was all an elaborate ploy to link these songs to Kevin Bacon.

Shameless.

I don't know what to do from here. The riddler will probably never let us know if we're done, and I'm coming up with nothing when trying to rearrange anything to spell Billy Elliot (which I figure might lead to something else).

anyone else still messing around with this?

The trail has grown cold. We have no more directives to go on. We took missing words from songs and ordered them in some way to spell out a clue. We then took that clue and found a concrete object - a movie title. If Quik wanted us to do anything more with that, he hasn't said as much. I've reread his first post a couple of times, and can't find any sort of hidden directive with which to act upon our current object.

We have an answer, and no more questions. That being said, unless somebody can prove me wrong, I'm satisfied that we have an answer.

No, sorry. That's it. "Billy Elliot" was the answer to the original puzzle. Sorry for my lack of a "ding ding" response.

My oblique fecal references were to those who got sidetracked with the example anagram... nothing to do with the main puzzle.

Nice job to those of you who worked through the main puzzle.

great work on this, it was a lot fun having the whole audio segment to get through before getting into the paper and pencil puzzle aspects of it.

I know that it starts out with a very bad cover of a Morrissey song.
