Does anyone know if there has been a survivor league started this season from here?

Not that I'm aware of.

So I just made one!

Yahoo Survivor Pool
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival/27107
Format: 2 strikes and you're out
Deadline: 5 minutes before first game of week
Group Name: FOFC
Group ID: 27107
password: Trout

Everybody sign up. Or don't, and then I'll win by default, whatever.

It's the only way molson can say no one signed up, so he wins by default.

Updated the link the go right to the league....someone managed to get in so trout should work there. And here:

Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Survival Football - There was a problem

(If you were searching in Yahoo, you have to search for the ID number and not the league name)

It's also the only way I can win. My next project is a 1-team fantasy league.

Is there anything more than "survive and advance"?

Do you get to only pick each team once?

Do points matter?

Once you pick a team you cannot pick them the rest of the season

Nope, nothing more to it. Pick a team each week. Points don't matter. If your team wins, you move on, if your team loses, you get a strike. Two strikes and you're out. You can only pick a team once during the season (and playoffs, if necessary). Last player standing wins.

Apparently my Yahoo account got deactivated, haven't used it in quite some time. If it gets re-activated before tonight's game, I'll try to get in,

One more bump and/or reminder to get your pick in - we're up to 19 players now and you have another 20 minutes or so to get in.

Bump because I almost forgot to pick this week. Picking against my beloved Cardinals sadly-traveling across the country to play New England-probably doesn't matter whether Kolb or Skelton get the start.

Man, you had to make your picks before the first game? I figured I'd be okay, as long as I wasn't picking the game last night.

Well, I figured Seattle could handle Arizona. After they couldn't, I figured no way Dallas would lose to them. And with that I'm out after week 2.

Well, that was interesting. I know I had my pick on NE earlier this week and only moved it because I thought they'd have other "locks" later in the season that I'd need

I did the same thing. I figured there were plenty of bad AFC teams for me to use New England for.

Just a reminder that deadline to enter is tomorrow again due to the Thursday game. I've gone with New Orleans this week-I just can't imagine even given their troubles that they can't beat KC at home.

These Thursday games are really throwing me. I wish they would let you pick all but the Thursday game if you didn't pick until Sunday. I haven't missed my chance to pick yet but I bet I will at some point this season

This is what I'm trying to do: pick the worst team that you think is a really likely win that you probably won't pick the rest of the season.

There are some more rules I have mentally (NEVER pick a road team unless you're getting down to the really bottom of the barrel last couple of weeks, pick against hopeless bad teams no matter who they are playing, etc) but that's the basics.

Yep. It's been rougher since Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Minnesota have all played each other each week -- that has really eliminated some good options.

Damn, this is a brutal survivor pool season. Patriots going down last week, and the Saints, 49ers, and Steelers going down this week (and the perilous Thursday pick deadline). Only 2 out of 19 in the FOFC pool don't have a strike yet.

thanks britrock, hopefully I can last a little longer in this one. Going with Baltimore-if Cleveland wins, then I'm going to pick the absolute worse team next week because I'm not doing any good picking winners.

I went with 2 because 12 of 19 people went 1/3 or 0/2 in the first pool. We could tighten it up if enough people want to, though.

Going with Minnesota this week = bad idea

I think my thought process goes as follows:
-Look at all games with a 5+ point spread (preferably 7+)
-Eliminate all away team as odd things happen on the road
-Try to eliminate Thursday/Sunday/Monday night games as odd things happen there
-Start from the best team and work your way down: eliminate any teams you see weeks you'd really like them for later in the season
This pretty much leaves you with the worst team available after the top 3 steps happen so that you have better teams for later weeks

Yeah, I'm annoyed. I could have gone with GB but I have them slotted in a couple of weeks. Minnesota seemed dicey but a fairly good chance with them at home and Tampa not a good road team

SI and I still going strong. 5 regular season weeks to go, by my count we both have 4-5 playoff teams left to pick from.

Interesting to see how far we can go

Congrats on the win, korme. I lost out on the screwy Panthers/Saints game, trying to set up for the playoffs as I still had Denver, San Fran, Houston, and Green Bay on the board for the playoff weeks. But week 17 is just such a minefield and I fell in it.
