Yup, exactly how I viewed it in my post. Ball was clearly going backwards. They just replayed it and clarified the rule. They said as the QB was hit, the backwards pass gets nullified. I never knew that. I thought if the ball went back, it went back. Evidently if the QB is hit during the pass attempt, it's considered a forward pass. Was anyone else aware of that rule? |

Not sold on Newton yet but RG3 is the real deal as a QB and an athlete. Would loved to have seen him in Eagles' green.

I think the Eagles and Andy Reid should just load up the buses at halftime and go back to Philly-pretty clear they didn't come to play today

Damn.. that kick return for a TD in the Indy game. Don't think I can recall a kickoff return where the guy gets up to speed and just runs down the middle of the field straight.

That Colts' kickoff return had to be about the worst kickoff coverage ever. He practically ran straight all the way.

That Newton injury looked painful.
Really, only a taped ankle after that? Legs shouldn't bend that way.

Wow, surprised he's back in after that. It certainly looked like a bad knee injury.

Forgettable season for the Steelers, but it should be a fun offseason.
Mike Wallace, Rashard Mendenhall, Casey Hampton, Larry Foote, Batch & Leftwich, Keenan Lewis, Plaxico, and just about every reserve OL will be free agents and veterans like James Harrison, Polamalu, and Kiesel will probably be under consideration for cap casualty cuts. I'd like to see them keep Hampton and Foote if the price is right and Keenan Lewis has been good enough to keep around if his demands are reasonable. Mendenhall is a goner and I think Wallace's holdout won't be forgotten by the Rooneys (maybe he can be franchised and dealt?). It would be a fun FOF offseason... |

Yet another Panthers season where they start 1-7 and finish strong to ruin a good draft pick, hooray 7-9?

New England would be the #2 seed if they win and Denver wins. They would be the number 1 if they win and Denver loses. New England would have to lose to NOT have a bye.

The best scenario for the Bears future would be for the Vikings to win. If the Bears make the playoffs they will get destroyed by SF again but Lovie/Tice will stay. They need to miss the playoffs so they can fire Lovie and get someone who can coach offense.

Matt Schaub isn't good enough for Houston to win the Super Bowl. It will be New England or Denver

It will be NE or Denver in the AFC and SF or GB in the NFC. Nobody takes Houston or Atlanta seriously. Houston doesn't even have HFA anymore. They're not going to NE or Denver and beating Brady/Manning. Atlanta might be one and done depending on who they play in the divisional round. Seattle could beat them. If not, SF or GB will thrash them in the NFCCG.

I'm kind of hoping the Vikings lose, don't want the idiots in the front office and coaching staff thinking Ponder deserves another season because he "lead the team to the playoffs."
Best possible outcome of this game is if it's the last game Ponder plays for the Vikings. |

I think Keisel is safe. Heyward wasn't even being rotated in most games. Foote I wouldn't mind. Keep in mind Sean Spence will be returning from injury and I'd expect he'll give every chance to win the job. Hampton should be gone. Too much $ for a two down player. McLendon was talked about tons...then didn't get on the field. Lewis I think is the priority. He plays the run like the Steelers require and tied for the league lead in PDs. Ike, Lewis and Cortez Allen is very solid. Draft wise, S/DB, OLB and WR are probably the target positions. Harrison a year older, possibly salary cap cut. Woodley hasn't been healthy in 3 years. Wallace will need replaced. Brown, Sanders, Cotchery is solid, but another young guy would be nice. Also think Colon is gone. Which sucks, I like how he looked at G. But Decastro is a starter, they like Foster, and Beachum was damn good as a 7th round rookie. Add in Adams and Gilbert, Pouncey and Legursky...hard to pay $6m to a guy you can't believe will play more than 10 games.

It's at least partially incorrect, Baltimore is locked in to #4.

Arizona is following the same game plan as the Seattle.
Run left right at the RDT spot vacated by Justin Smith's injury.

Attn My Beloved Cardinals:
Don't you dare win this game when you are on your fourth QB of the season, long gone from the playoffs and in position for a possible top 5 pick in the draft. That is all. |

If the cards win and Gb loses it sets up some potentially awesome scenarios like GB @ Seattle in rd 2. Assuming Seattle also wins.

No one is going to make a FG in Miami-New England. 40 yard FG started wide right, ended up 5-10 yards wide left.

Vikings up 10 at the half means a whole lot of Peterson in the second half.
