A new entry for All-Time Great cover song

I posted this in the YouTube thread, but it deserves a thread of its own.

Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart and Jason Bonham did a cover of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Awards last night, where Led Zeppelin was honored. This is simply an awesome cover of the song, with the awesomeness factor bumped up several notches by having the remaining members of Led Zeppelin in attendance and giving their approval of the version throughout the song.

I never understand the fascination with this song. It's not even close to their best song. I realize why they performed it here though. In addition, I love Ann Wilson's voice when she rocks it. Best female rock vocalist for my money.

It is one of my very favorite songs (most boomers would say that) and Ann/Nancy has been covering that song since the mid-1970s. I'm glad to be able to add one more live version from them to my playlist.

I've heard it too many times, but I think it's definitely their most iconic song. A good blend of the weird Led Zep and the rocking out Led Zep all in the one song.

I had always wished Jason at least inherited the way behind the back beat style of drumming John was so known for. Instead he just became a decent pro drummer. His drumming here is one of my least favorite parts of it. Yeah, I see why is there but many could have filled in better.
