RIP Andre Harrell
Andre Harrell, one of hip-hop’s earliest moguls, has died of heart failure, according to The New York Times. He was 59-years-old.
After a brief, but impactful, tenure at a still young Def Jam Records, Harrell founded his own label, Uptown Records, launching the careers of Mary J. Blige, Teddy Riley, Heavy D & The Boyz, Al B. Sure!, and Sean “Diddy” Combs (who served as an intern for the fledgling label.) https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/09/a...rell-dead.html Uptown Records was one of the top labels, along with Def Jam Records, when I was in my teens. He had a hand in a lot of the music that's a part of the soundtrack of my life. RIP |
