A bummer. We just watched Best in Show a couple weeks ago with with the kids, and Fred was probably their favorite part.

I saw the term "scene stealer" in an article about him, and I don't think that term describes anybody better than Fred Willard. I don't know if Hollywood ever quite figured that out or appreciated him, but I'm glad Christopher Guest did at least.

We used to play softball together in Venice Beach, nearly twenty years ago. He asked me to throw with him after the first time we played, in early 2003.

I got to have a catch with Fred Willard.

He was a good dude, really humble and just one of the guys. I really enjoyed his company, whenever I had it. May he rest easy.

The Beverly Hills Dog Show is on right now; following Best of Show, it is hard accepting that this is supposed to be a serious competition and not a send-up.

(It does not help having John O'Hurley as one of the announcers.)

oh yeah. O Hurley is a dog lo9ver...like fanatical about it. I've seen him judging MANY dog shows not that I really care myself.
