Split season?

I just was reading the OOTP forums and saw the original SLOP thread on the forums .... Maybe this is stupid that I didn't notice but the post said we play split-season format for playoffs? Is that the case or has that been changed?

Edit: I read further in the thread where I see split-season was abandoned. Disregard thread.

Yeah, we did it for the first few years. The problems with split season were two fold : First, OOTP doesn't keep 2nd half standings so you can't tell how far back a team is. Second, it was sort of off-putting to have a team possibly finish with the best overall record or win 90+ games and miss the playoffs to a team that finished 3rd or something.

But...I did like how it added to the league's originality. I just think that because it's fast-sim with injuries off, there isn't enough variability to make it work how it should on paper.

So that's the meta thinking on it.
