League File & HTML

You download it the first time, then can import in game after that.

New file is up, as I added the two new owners that I'd forgotten. Everyone should download this file (From the Game menu, click Load Online League file) and hopefully, it'll work okay. Make your changes within it. I didn't download any of the exports that might be out there, so nothing has changed other than the two owners being added and the graphics you all might have given me for your teams.

Does this mean I need to do over my export I did yesterday?

Actually, hell, I don't even have a saved_games folder. Do I need to create that, or should it already be there?!?

Are you looking in your documents area and NOT in the program files area?

There are two folders for OOTP stuff. Program Files has all of the critical .exe stuff. My Documents/OOTP Developments/OOTP Baseball 9/

is the folder with the logos, saved games and such alike. That's where the saved_games folder is.

OK, now I'm getting THIS issue. I've created the FOOL.lg folder and extracted the file into it. When I try to load it up, I get:

"DATABASE::load_database - could not load world file"

and then when I hit OK, it gives me:

"The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version."

I'm using the program (jZip) that DC recommended, so I don't think it's the same issue that muns was having...

After you download that program. Create a seperate folder on your desktop. Extract the league file with the jzip program to that new folder. After its finished Copy all the files from that new folder over to the Fool folder and it should work.

All that gets extracted is Fool.lg.tar. There aren't any other files in the folder...

Extract fool.lg.tar using gzip. That'll have the files in it. It's still zipped if you're seeing it in that format.

DC can you translate the following line for me?

Quote:
Wednesday-Thursday: Free Agency (Trade deadline is Thursday at 9pm)

Does this mean 1 sim each night Wed and Thursday with the deadline being thursday? Or is this 1 sim total that you have both Wednesday and Thursday to prepare for?

Just trying to make sure if I understand if there is a sim due tonight or not.

Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion. Yeah, there is a sim tonight. The sim tonight will sim to the start of the pre-season. Conversely, the file you pick up tonight will be the last chance you get to sign anyone before the season starts and the trade deadline is also Thursday night.

Thursday night's sim will be to Opening Day. (not to play any games) It's the last chance you get to set lineups, make sure you have your new players and old ones where you want 'em, etc.

Then you exports are due by 10pm (eastern) on Friday and we sim the season over the weekend.

League HTML is updated. I don't upload news stories or anything to the web. Saves time and space. But I update the league HTML overnight after I upload the file.

I can wait the extra 4 minutes tonight. Heck, throw in some foreplay and make it 4 1/2 minutes.

Something just feels off about the minor league setup.. I'm used to being able to have the manager auto-manage what league my players go in with ok accuracy from which I usually go in and hand move people around.

For some reason in this league it wants to auto-fill from top to bottom, completely filling up AAA, then AA, then A regardless of player talent level. . I haven't played enough with OOTP minor league setup to understand completely why it's doing this here though..

Any idea, or is it just me?

It might be that when people have players DFA, I might be the computer set minors. I won't do that anymore, so sorry that might be what's screwing you. Other than that, I have no idea what it could be...

Uploading the file now...

Okay, I wasn't able to do anything last night as my wife has been sick. I appreciate everything you're doing. Only needed it today as it's my only way to see if anything happened with my team roster and free agent wise.

Thanks again.

Yeah, I'm updating the whole thing now and it should be done soon. It's mostly the flaws in the way OOTP generates it that makes it annoying.

If you extracted it once already, you shouldn't have to do it again and should be able to update in-game. Had you not done it before?

Make sure to save fool.lg.tar.gz to your desktop. Create a folder called FOOL.lg in your

C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\saved_games

folder.

Then extract the documents from the tar.gz file into that folder.

This is generally not correct. First, extract the .tar file from the tar.gz folder. Then extract the contents of the .tar file into that folder.

You may or may not have a utility that handles this for you, but a .tar file is just a bunch of files stuck together, and the .gz then compresses that single file.

Maybe if I get a chance I'll just zip my folder and make it available so it's easier for the Windows folks to get started...
