Suggestions for restaurants in Las Vegas needed
In a few days I'll be taking my annual New Year's trip to Las Vegas. Looking for suggestions for nice places to eat with Laura Bush on New Year's Eve before getting shitfaced. Not buffets, I'll be taking in a few of those while I'm there, but actual restaurants, maybe suggestions on a nice steak place or whatever thats worth checking out. Went to Samba last time and a few others. Or maybe there is something new since last year? Thanks.

At the Hard Rock casino, ask for the 777 special. It's not on the menu, but it's steak and shrimp for $7.77

Where was the buffett at in Vegas Vacation where Clark ate with Cousin Eddie? I suggest that place.

You lucky dog you. I have always wanted to attend the Adult Video Awards, but could never come up with a good enough excuse to be in Vegas while they were going on. Going to Vegas for The 2006, 23rd annual AVN awards?
I would guess that in between shows most Strip Joints will be serving some type of food for all the extra Pervs. in town. But seriously, who do you think is going to win these awards. Quote:

Excellent Italian joint in Mandalay Bay. One of the Wolfgang Puck restaurants, forget the name of it.
There's also two seafood places right next to each other, basically directly across the street from the Monte Carlo. Both are excellent, though the one on the left serves this vat of shelled crab legs that you just can't beat. |

No shortage of good restaurants in Vegas. I'm partial to Indian food, and my favorite place is Shalimar, on Paradise just north of Flamingo. Its less than a 10 minute drive from the strip. It's been a few years since I've been there, but it's still the best Indian food I've found.

Pretty much all of the major resorts have some of the finest restaurants in the country - just nowadays, you have to be prepared to pay a lot. La Provencal in Paris on one of my wife's and I favorites. Also, about any of the fancy ones in Luxor, Mandy Bay, MGM, Mirage, Venetian and Caesar's are suberb.

We went to a really nice Italian place at the Venetian...I dont' remember what it was called, but it was delicious...not your usual pastas and stuff, I had this awesome fish with risotto, if you can find it I'd definitely recommend it. All I remember was that it wasn't far from the canal

Dang, I figured I could puzzle this one out like I did the Mandalay Bay one ... but there's 17 restaurants at the Venetian & about half of them are Italian. http://www.venetian.com/dining/dining_index.cfm

It was Canaletto...we sat outside (like in the pic) so I can't speak for the "atmosphere" inside the restaurant, but the food is amazing and the service was great. |

Bumping this thread for suggestions. The wife and I are heading to Vegas for our 1 year anniversary and I'm trying to get some nice restaurants lined up, including a very nice one for our anniversary night. Right now, we've got these:
Austins Steakhouse Top of the World at the Stratosphere Bally's Sunday buffet The "Star Chefs" places, like Mesa Grill, Emeril's, and Batali's places Is there a good sushi place in Vegas? We don't mind them being off the strip as we'll have a rental and we are not staying on the strip anyway. Thanks for any help. |

Smith & Wollensky's. If you like steak, go there. They are up there with Ruth's Chris.

I'm anti-Ruth's Chris in general.
As for Sushi, Nobu always works. Hard Rock I think. |

The steakhouse at the top of Binion's is better, and a vastly better value, than the one top of the Stratosphere. imo

Top of the World was going to the anniversary dinner place. Great view, great food, great atmosphere. The perfect compliment to a great lady. If there's a better place that has a better combination of the 3, I'm definitely open to it. I'll take a look at Binion's and Rosemary's.
As for budget, we've saved up a bit for this vacation, plus we'll be eating breakfast and lunch most days in the hotel room (it has a kitchen) so we can splurge on dinner. Let's say $100 for dinner and $200 for the anniversary dinner, just to set the bar kinda high. Last edited by rjolley : 06-23-2008 at 01:32 PM. |

Can you really go wrong in Vegas (at least in terms of the the Strip restaurants and the luxury properties off-The Palms, Hard Rock, Red Rock, Green Valley, ect.)? Seems like the worst restaurants in the city are even pretty good.

We're staying at The Grandview at Las Vegas, south of the strip. We were able to trade in our timeshare week for a week there. It worked out to be a great deal.

Yes, you can. I've had a couple bad meals in Vegas hotels before. Not many, but a couple. (Mexican place that may or may not still be there in NY/NY, and the one of the Chinese eateries in Mandalay - BAD). |

Plus, I don't want to randomly try a sushi place. I'd rather have recommendations. The other fares are usually ok to experiment with.
Also, a lot of the nicer places require or at least recommend a reservation. Last edited by rjolley : 06-23-2008 at 04:25 PM. |

A couple of people in our group on the last trip had sushi at this place in Mandalay Bay, and said it was quite good. I don't know the name of it, though.

Mandalay Bay helps though. I think one of the places I found online was in there. Thanks for the info.
