What if those are guys we might be interested in signing? I'll admit I rarely find someone of interest whom I have the cap space to sign during this stage of the season, but I do look, just in case. Shouldn't the AI's ability to sign players during the season be shut off?

It was shut off. They signed them at the same time as everyone else. They just had so few players they each signed like 40-50 players. That ended up to be a total of over 100 players easily.

We'll give it a couple more weeks and take another vote on what we want to do about it. I agree with you to a point. What I do like about it is the draft is nice. I like the fact that you can get useful players in the 2nd round and after sometimes. In this approach you get a set order on last years record in round 2 and so on. The other system it was all just luck. Its a pick your poison thing IMO. You can also sign players at ease. I don't have to say I lose a pick to sign him. Its more about how much money you have over what pick in the draft you have. There is certainly downside to this approach as well.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum in that I like the new compensation setup. I like that its only the elite players are eligible and that I don't have to give a pick for a middle of the road player.
