Good speed and a good arm never hurt, either, but not always required. This year's all-defense team in the Continental League consists of:

Top Rookie Crowned by Continental League
Monday, November 10th, 2104
Today the Continental League announced the winner of the 2104 Kien-lung Teng Award. The top-ranked rookie was the talented London first baseman Skip Lucas.

The 24-year-old Bishops newcomer took the trophy by hitting .297 in 139 games this season and finished with 119 hits, 22 home runs, 78 RBIs and 65 runs scored.


Republic League Picks Premier Rookie
Monday, November 10th, 2104
Luis Romano's age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Portland Axemen and today he walked away with the 2104 Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award.

The 24-year-old starter registered a 16-7 record this season in 32 starts. Over 200 innings he gave up 179 hits, struck out 161 and issued 35 walks as he held the opposition to a .236 batting average and fashioned a 3.38 ERA.

St Louis Star, Mauro Morales Award Winner
Wednesday, November 12th, 2104
Tom Brewer of St Louis excelled on the mound in 2104 with a 20-4 record and was named the Continental League Mauro Morales Award winner.

The Hops star put on quite a show with a 3.09 ERA in 31 starts and 120 strikeouts in 215.2 innings.


Castillo Takes RL Mauro Morales Award

The 2104 Republic League Mauro Morales Award has gone to Spring Lions ace Freddy Castillo after a stellar 14-10 season.

In 33 starts he piled up 220.2 innings, 237 strikeouts, 51 walks and a 2.24 ERA. Castillo held opposing hitters to a .230 batting average.

Mauro Cavazos Wins Best Bat Trophy

It's been a year of triumph for veteran Mauro Cavazos of the Washington Freedom as he hit his way to the 2104 Continental League Bartolo Liriano Award.

The 29-year-old veteran compiled a .320 average and .445 on-base percentage by putting together 149 hits, 30 doubles, 1 triple, 27 home runs and 99 walks. He also scored 76 times and drove in 85 runs.


Republic League Top Batsman Is Grafals

José Grafals of the Spring Lions proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Republic League Bartolo Liriano Award.

Grafals hit for a .300 average while collecting 182 hits, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 43 home runs, 110 RBIs and scoring 120 times.
