López Captures CL Batter of Month Award
Sunday, May 1st, 2112 Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 27-year-old Gabriel López put together a solid offensive month for Omaha and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League. He batted .297 with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Great April Gets Brackett RL Best Hitter Award Sunday, May 1st, 2112 Bob Brackett battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Brackett told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 24 games, Brackett hit .455 with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 22 runs.

Ballam Acclaimed Top Pitcher in April
Sunday, May 1st, 2112 Veteran Ryan Ballam put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Washington Freedom, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award. Ballam racked up a 3-1 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.38 ERA over 41.2 innings and striking out 38. Sánchez Top RL Starter in April Sunday, May 1st, 2112 Tomás Sánchez's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-1 in April, the 27-year-old Spring hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 23 in 38.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.63 and allowed opponents to hit .248 against him.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2112 Juan López's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Plantana left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .289 with 7 doubles, 2 triples and 1 home run. López also scored 11 times and drove in 11 runs. García Heads the Rookie Class Sunday, May 1st, 2112 In April, Portland right fielder Jaime García took the Republic League Rookie of the Month honors. In 24 games he hit .278, collecting 27 hits, 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He also chalked up 8 walks and a .336 OBP.

CL Choice for Batter of the Month is Kim
Wednesday, June 1st, 2112 In May, Oshawa Mullets third baseman Mun-yeong Kim claimed the Continental League Batter of the Month award. The 26-year-old swung with confidence, hitting .330 with 9 home runs, 36 RBIs and 19 runs scored. So far this year Kim is hitting .310 with 14 home runs. Bermúdez Awarded May's RL Top Bat Prize Wednesday, June 1st, 2112 Ramón Bermúdez of the Ann Arbor Wolverines was named the Republic League's best batter for his fine performance in May. He compiled a .396 batting average and .416 on-base percentage during the month. In 25 games he piled up 38 hits, 14 home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored. In the 2112 season Bermúdez is hitting .365 with 21 home runs.

Continental League Selects #1 Starter in May
Wednesday, June 1st, 2112 Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Alberto Flores still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 28-year-old starter for Havana was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. He collected 5 wins and no losses with 38 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.53 ERA in 47 innings of work. This year Flores has recorded a 8-2 mark. In 11 starts he has fanned 56 batters in 81 innings with a 1.56 ERA. Xi Is RL's Best Pitcher in May Wednesday, June 1st, 2112 In May, Yu-bao Xi tore through the Republic League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 24 years old. The young Waikiki starter posted a 6-0 mark and an ERA of 0.89 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 40.2 innings he collected 25 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .196 average. This season Xi has worked 69.2 innings with 47 strikeouts en route to a 7-2 record and a 2.45 ERA.

May's Top CL Rookie Named
Wednesday, June 1st, 2112 In May, 26-year-old Kagetoki Hirano swung a mighty big bat and bagged the Continental League Rookie of the Month award. Last month he played in 23 games and hit .364 with 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs. Hirano also scored 12 times and drove in 17 runs. Currently Hirano is batting .367 with 40 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 24 runs and scored 20 times. Jaime García Captures Rookie of Month Wednesday, June 1st, 2112 Portland's Jaime García was voted May's Republic League Rookie of the Month by baseball officials after putting together a fine month-long performance. The 26-year-old right fielder really attacked the baseball, putting up 37 hits, 1 home run, 10 RBIs and a .314 average while playing in 29 games. For the season García has hit .298 with 8 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has played in 53 games and scored 37 times.

June's CL Batter of Month Award Announced
Friday, July 1st, 2112 Omaha's Gabriel López had a productive June and topped it off by winning the Batter of the Month citation from the Continental League. The 27-year-old right fielder stood out at the plate with a .343 batting average, 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. For the year López has hit .286 with 12 home runs, 64 RBIs and scored 54 runs. Gamboa Takes RL's Best Bat Trophy Friday, July 1st, 2112 June's Hitter of the Month has been selected by the Republic League. This month's trophy was presented to the Spring first baseman, Augusto Gamboa. He starred by hitting .339 with a .416 on-base percentage, totaled 37 hits in 109 at-bats, 12 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 24 runs. Batting .296 to date, Gamboa has 22 home runs and 69 RBIs.

Catron Garners CL #1 Pitcher Award
Friday, July 1st, 2112 Chris Catron has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in June and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award. The Freedom bullpen ace collected 8 saves and 23 strikeouts in 15.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .175 average and posting a 0.57 ERA and a 3-0 record. So far this season Catron has 16 saves in 38 relief appearances with a 7-1 mark and 1.27 ERA. Opposing teams are hitting .188 against him. Pomerleau Is June's Top Starter Friday, July 1st, 2112 As Eliott Pomerleau hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for June, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Ann Arbor once his contract is up at the end of the season. Pomerleau put pressure on the Wolverines to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 2.39 over 37.2 innings last month. He also rolled up 39 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Ann Arbor and to every other team in the league. This season Pomerleau has worked 108 innings with 99 strikeouts en route to a 10-2 record and a 2.58 ERA.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, July 1st, 2112 Youngster Luis Olvera emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Washington deserved the honor, batting .275 with 6 home runs and 9 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Olvera enjoy the limelight. To date this season Olvera is hitting .223 with 14 home runs. García Honored by Republic League Friday, July 1st, 2112 The premier Republic League rookie in June was Portland's right fielder Jaime García. Last month he played in 27 games and hit .294 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 6 home runs. García also scored 15 times and drove in 19 runs. Monday, August 1st, 2112 Júlio López of the Manchester Terriers spoke softly and carried a big stick in July and was justifiably proclaimed the Continental League Batter of the Month. The Terriers left fielder rapped out a .390 batting average with 39 hits in 100 at-bats, drove in 20, scored 22 runs and chalked up a .475 on-base percentage. López is currently hitting at a .341 pace with 10 home runs, 59 RBIs and has scored 82 times. Super Month Nets Gamboa #1 Batter Prize in RL Monday, August 1st, 2112 In the month of July Augusto Gamboa thumped the ball with authority, earning Republic League Batter of the Month honors in the process. Spring's first baseman hit .298 with 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 19 runs. This year Gamboa is hitting at a .296 pace with 31 home runs and 94 RBIs. He has played in 104 games and scored 69 times.

Johnson Earns July's Best Pitcher Honor
Monday, August 1st, 2112 Jeff Johnson nailed down July's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on London to get a deal done before the 33-year-old becomes a free agent. Johnson seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?" He fashioned a 4-0 record, reeled off 30 strikeouts, worked 36.1 innings and held batters to a .188 average for the month as he posted a 2.23 ERA. This season Johnson has compiled a 13-3 mark with a 2.55 ERA in 21 starts. RL's Best Starter is Rodríguez Monday, August 1st, 2112 The top pitcher this past month in the Republic League was Ángelo Rodríguez of the Maricopa Rattlers. He really bewildered league hitters, finishing July with an excellent 5-0 record and 2.37 ERA. The Rattlers hurler made 5 starts and surrendered 25 hits in 38 innings. He struck out 25 and walked 6. Checking out his stats for the year, Rodríguez has racked up 10 wins and 6 losses in 21 starts, 2.72 ERA and struck out 91 batters in 145.1 innings.

July's Best Rookie Trophy Awarded
Monday, August 1st, 2112 John Farmer earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Washington right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Farmer hit .333 with 4 home runs, 20 RBIs and 10 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. To date Farmer has chalked up a .304 average with 17 home runs, driven in 53 runs and scored 39 times. High on the Hit Parade, Elliott Voted #1 Rookie Monday, August 1st, 2112 The Republic League's Rookie of the Month is David Elliott of Ann Arbor. In July the right fielder ravaged pitchers for a .345 BA, 40 hits, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs, scored 21 runs and walked 4 times for a .367 on-base percentage. This year Elliott has hit at a .258 clip with 42 RBIs, 10 home runs and 62 runs scored.

López Snares CL Top Batter Award in August
Thursday, September 1st, 2112 One of the more consistent batters in August, Manchester left fielder Júlio López grabbed Continental League Batter of the Month honors by hitting .328 with 39 hits in 119 at-bats. He racked up 6 home runs and 23 RBIs, scored 24 runs. López is batting .338 this season in 133 games with 16 home runs, 82 RBIs and 106 runs scored. He has 181 hits in 536 at-bats. McMonegal of Waikiki RL Batter of the Month Thursday, September 1st, 2112 A hot-hitting Melvin McMonegal punished RL pitchers in August, hitting .387 in 28 games while racking up 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 28 runs scored. With those numbers it came as no surprise that Waikiki's 28-year-old left fielder earned Republic League Batter of the Month honors. This season McMonegal is swinging the bat at a .308 rate with 168 hits in 545 at-bats. To date he has hit 19 home runs, scored 104 runs and driven in 85.

CL Premier Pitcher is Havana's Brown
Thursday, September 1st, 2112 Artie Brown was the anchor in the Havana bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for August. The 29-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come. He threw 14.1 innings over 12 relief appearances and collected a 2-0 record with 12 strikeouts and 8 saves while etching his 1.88 ERA. For the year Brown has 32 saves in 59 relief appearances with a 5-5 mark and 2.77 ERA. Moore Selected RL's Best Pitcher Thursday, September 1st, 2112 The Republic League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to bullpen ace Fred Moore of Maricopa for his outstanding work on the mound. During the month, the Rattlers star stood out with 7 saves in 8 save opportunities, a 0.60 ERA and 2 wins and no losses. In 15 innings he struck out 13 and gave up 12 hits and 3 walks. In 2112 Moore has totaled 50 relief appearances and saved 22. His record is 6-3 with 68 strikeouts in 57.1 innings and a 2.20 ERA.

August's Best Rookie Honored by CL
Thursday, September 1st, 2112 The Continental League made the official announcement today. The Rookie of the Month award went to Kagetoki Hirano of Manchester. He was named the best rookie in August. Last month the 26-year-old Terriers left fielder played in 26 games and hit .342 with 8 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Hirano also scored 11 times and drove in 19 runs. So far this season Hirano is hitting .325 with 12 home runs. Moore Voted August's Top RL Rookie Thursday, September 1st, 2112 A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Ryan Moore just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for August. Over the past month the 23-year-old designated hitter for Spring hit .364 with 36 hits, 5 home runs and 22 runs batted in. He also logged 4 walks and compiled a .390 on-base percentage. So far this year Moore is batting .283 with 11 home runs, 58 RBIs and 69 runs scored.

Velázquez Wins CL Prize, Named Best Hitter in September
Saturday, October 1st, 2112 Vicente Velázquez really put on a show in September, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the Continental League! The Washington left fielder batted .371 with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs, 25 runs scored, along with 15 walks to compile a .447 on-base percentage. Thus far this year Velázquez is hitting .311 with 22 home runs, 104 RBIs and 95 runs scored. RL's #1 Batter Chosen Saturday, October 1st, 2112 It's a time for celebration in Waikiki as Skip Lucas has just walked away with September's Republic League Batter of the Month award. He socked 28 hits in 97 at-bats to put up a .289 batting average, 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 16 runs scored. This season Lucas is batting .289 with 45 home runs. His totals include 140 RBIs and 102 runs scored.

Saturday, October 1st, 2112 Which Continental League hurler dominated in the month of September? According to the voters who decide the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award, it was Jaime González of the Oshawa Mullets. He put together a record of 4-0 with an ERA of 2.29 in 6 starting assignments. In addition, he struck out 40 in 35.1 innings. To date this season González is 14-5 with 32 starts and an ERA of 3.06 with 217 strikeouts in 211.2 innings. Minor Wins RL Top Pitcher Honors Saturday, October 1st, 2112 The Pitcher of the Month Award in September has been selected and the Republic League honor went to Chicago hurler, Judd Minor. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher. During the month, Minor was superb with a 1.47 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 36.2 innings he struck out 21 and gave up 34 hits and 5 walks. In 32 starts this year Minor has crafted a 11-10 record and a 3.65 ERA.

Saturday, October 1st, 2112 Juan López is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In September the Plantana hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .353 average with 36 hits, 3 home runs and 18 RBIs. This season López is batting .275 with 162 hits, 6 home runs, 63 RBIs, .322 OBP and has scored 77 runs. Sweet Swing, Sweet Month for Rookie García Saturday, October 1st, 2112 Jaime García was voted the top rookie in the Republic League for his solid performance last month. In September, the Portland right fielder posted a .262 average while racking up 27 hits, 11 home runs and 21 RBIs. So far in 2112 García is batting .287 with 35 home runs, 111 RBIs and 98 runs scored. He has 187 hits in 651 at-bats and a .335 OBP.
