FOOL 2060 Regular Season

Been on my computer for about 14 straight hours for work so taking a quick break away. Regular season runs in 1 hour, our first on OOTPX!

Good luck to all, and hope to see you for the live sim!

I have a record to speak of. It may be longer than seven weeks back that I actually looked impressive, but it happened...sometimes...more than once.

Sato Big Deal in Colorado: Hits for Cycle
Tuesday, April 20th, 2060: Kiminobu Sato ripped out a single, double, triple and home run for Colorado yesterday, but the cycle was all for naught as the Rancheros lost to the Rebels 8-5.
"I can't get too excited about it," Sato said. "I'd trade all those hits for a win in a heartbeat."
In his remarkable day at the plate he went 4-for-4 with 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored.

K. Sato singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off M. Fontanez in the 7th.

This season Sato is hitting .409 with 27 hits, 1 home run, 8 RBIs, scored 12 runs and played in 17 games.

Pengilly Cops #1 Pitcher Award in April
Saturday, May 1st, 2060: Veteran Jacob Pengilly put together quite a successful stretch in April for the New York Heroes, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

CL's Top Pitcher in April Is Rivera
Saturday, May 1st, 2060: Pedro Rivera's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in April, the 31-year-old Baltimore hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

RL's Best Batter Selected
Saturday, May 1st, 2060: Free agent-to-be William Snyder has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Republic League Batter of the Month.

In April, the 32-year-old Ann Arbor catcher hit .340 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

Veeck Garners CL Batter of the Month Award
Saturday, May 1st, 2060: Roosevelt Veeck really put on a show in April, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the Continental League!

The Baltimore right fielder batted .395 with 11 home runs, 29 RBIs, 24 runs scored, along with 4 walks to compile a .424 on-base percentage.

Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Saturday, May 1st, 2060: Kevin Busby is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the New York hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .296 average with 16 hits, 2 home runs and 10 RBIs.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month

Saturday, May 1st, 2060: Tony Rodríguez earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Tokyo first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Rodríguez hit .349 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 11 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

In the clubhouse after the game, Martínez told BNN, "I was just looking for a ball to drive... and I got one."

Ortega Superb Against Napa Valley
Saturday, May 22nd, 2060: Esteban Ortega was dynamite today and just blew Napa Valley away in the 5-0 victory. The Boston Settlers starter had everything working as he hurled a 1-hit shutout over the Winemakers, recording 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.

"He was pure nasty out there today. I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing," said the Napa Valley skipper during his postgame press conference.

In 9 starts this season Ortega has compiled a 3-3 record and a 4.36 ERA.

Serrano Crowned Batter of the Month in May
Tuesday, June 1st, 2060: Carlos Serrano battered Republic League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Serrano told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Serrano hit .396 with 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 25 runs.

Serrano on the season is batting .365 with 19 home runs. His totals include 44 RBIs and 46 runs scored. He has played in 50 games.

CL's Best Batter Announced
Tuesday, June 1st, 2060: Prospective free agents love to have hot streaks and Leroy Winter is no exception. The Boston first baseman capped off a fine month by hauling in Batter of the Month honors in the Continental League.

In May Winter hit .367 with 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

For the year Winter is batting .354 with 17 home runs.

RL Rookie Vote Goes to Busby
Tuesday, June 1st, 2060: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Kevin Busby just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 24-year-old left fielder for New York hit .391 with 27 hits, 1 home run and 13 runs batted in. He also logged 2 walks and compiled a .447 on-base percentage.

This year Busby is hitting .350 with 3 home runs and 23 RBIs in 33 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .424 with 4 walks and 21 runs scored.

Padilla Tabbed CL's Top Rookie
Tuesday, June 1st, 2060: St. Petersburg's Sergio Padilla collected 24 hits to snare the Continental League Rookie of the Month for May.

He batted .304 with 6 home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

The 20-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace.

This season Padilla has banged out 40 hits in 159 at-bats for a .252 average with 9 home runs. He is getting on base at a .328 pace and his totals also include 32 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

And to think I came THIS close to listening to the A.I. and using Ray Turpin as a setup man.

Ok, this is probably a terrible question (since you've been losing for 7 weeks and all) but seeing as how my dear friend Alan hasn't updated the team lists...who is your team again?

Fox Spins No-Hitter Against St. Petersburg
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2060: The Boston Settlers relied on no-hit stuff from John Fox to defeat the St. Petersburg Pelicans 6-1 at Legends Field.

"It's quite a thrill," a candid Fox told the media afterward, "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."

To get his name logged in the records, he stopped St. Petersburg cold, with no hits, surrendering 4 walks and fanning 4 batters, facing only 31 batters.

Fox said in a postgame interview, "Games like this are something special. They don't come around very often, if ever. I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I just tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They are everywhere you look."

In a jovial mood, his manager kiddingly told the reporters, "He definitely made it easy for me today. I didn't have any great decisions to make like I usually have to do. Didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter. I love it when my pitchers pitch a no-hitter."

Up to now Fox has compiled an ERA of 3.03 with a 9-2 mark over 14 starts. He has 69 strikeouts in 104 innings and has held opponents to a .233 batting average.

Boston's John Fox becomes only the third pitcher in FOOL history to have two no-hitters in his career!

The only other two to do it are Baltimore's Ivan Flores and Valdosta's Doug Frazier!
