Deliverance by the Hammer and the Cross - A Poland CK Dynasty

PROLOGUE

It has been eight long years since the passing of Kazimierz the Restorer, the man who united all of Poland, who brought peace along the borders of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire. His reign lasted 18 years, all of which were spent for the glory of Poland.

Kazimierz the Restorer

He spent many of his years as an outcast in Hungary. The true heir to the throne of Poland, removed from his own birthright by the treachery of the Polish aristocracy.

They would soon feel the wrath of the peasants of Poland. An uprising spread like bushfire amongst the land. The Bohemian Duke, Bretislaus attempted to take Poland for himself, amidst the chaos. Kazimierz was quick to act, securing the alliance of the Holy Roman Emperor to raise an army against the Bohemians.

Kazimierz drove away the armies of Bohemia and soon claimed the lands of Poland, and its throne as his birthright. He would soon claim Silesia and Mazovia, to the south-west and to the north, as Polish lands. The Holy Roman Empire would be able to absorb Bohemia into their lands, and Kazimierz would find his western lands secured by his alliance with the German Emperor.

With support from the Holy Roman Empire, Kazimierz spent the rest of his rule in internal matters, passing reforms in support of the Papacy in Rome. Establishing two Archbishoprics in Krakow and Wielkopolska, he paid homage to the Papacy and, at the same time, was able to pacify the rebellious Poles. He promoted land reform, and granted titles and fiefdoms to his most loyal soldiers, gradually turning them into medieval knights.

The Great Restorer had three children, all of whom claimed their rightful place in society. His eldest son, Boleslaw I, now rules as King of Poland , his other son, Wladyslaw, is the Duke Mazovia, and his only daughter, Swietoslawa, is the Duchess of Bohemia, the second wife of Duke Vratislav Premyslid.

The Duke and Duchess of Bohemia

In the past eight years, the 24-year old Boleslaw was educated in the ways of war and of the cross. It is these things that will influence the young Polish King’s decisions for most of his rule. Fully supported by his brother, Duke of Mazovia, by the Duke of Silesia and by the Archbishoprics of Krakow and Wielkopolska, Boleslaw’s grip on the throne of Poland is secure.

Poland, 1066

To the north of Poland lie pagan lands, ruled by godless figures of authority. It is only a matter of time before the young king acts. Soon, these pagan lords will feel the wrath of Polish might, and they will kneel before the Cross of our Lord and Saviour.

Diocese Bishop Macko of Poland

Yay, another CK AAR!

Be very careful with those northern pagans, by the way. Check to make certain the two most powerful ones aren't allied together (Mecklemburg and... Prussia? I want to say) because they'll eat you otherwise.
