Hopefully you and the real eagles can turn it around for the last half of the season and hold off the giants.

I'm giving Runyan one more game to impress as the primary RT with most of the PT.
An early interception of a Brunell pass leads to a very short field and a 2 yard TD run by Westbrook a few plays later! A missed 37 yard FG ends their next drive. We end the drive with a 11 yard TD pass to LJ Smith! 14-0 with 2 minutes left in the 1st. Early in the 2nd, Garcia tries a bomb that is picked off. At least, it was like a good punt. Midway through the 2nd, we stop Duckett on a 4th and 1 for no gain! Westbrook with a nice 21 yard run to start the 3rd, William Thomas with the key block on the play. Garcia has thrown 2 picks, but he throws his 2nd TD in the middle of the 3rd to make it 21-0. Late in the 3rd, Duckett ends a drive with a 3 yard TD. 21-7. Late in the 4th, Garcia throws his 3rd TD pass (this one to Brown.) 31-7 Week 10, 2006 played in Philadelphia, PA 67 degrees, fair, 5 mph wind

Next up, we host the surprising Titans who are 3-6.
Kerry Collins has played well and has kept the starting job all year. He has 5 TD's and 8 INT's. Chris Brown is the main running back and he has 120 carries for 490 yards with 2 TD's. David Givens leads the team with 36 catches for 426 yards and 3 TD's. However, their running game is 31st in the league. Their pass attack is 18th. They do have a plus 3 turnover margin which is good. The good news for us is that McNabb is back at 100%. We'll open up the offense and rely less on Westbrook who is wearing down a bit I think, particularly after that huge game last week.

Oh yeah. 2nd drive of the game, Westbrook had a 36 yard run and McNabb connected with Brown on a 17 yard TD pass. McNabb is 3 of 4 for 48 yards early. Definitely liking the opened up offense.
Kerry Collins is dissecting our defense better than any QB this season, i think. With about 2 minutes left in the half, Collins connects with Kinney on a TD pass to make it 10-10. Since that drive, they have been shutting us down pretty good. Fortunately, our defense is playing better in the 2nd half. Darn, late in the 4th, a 26 yard TD pass to Greg Lewis is negated by offensive holding. A few plays later we settle for a FG to make it 16-10. 1:40 left and Tennesee gets a great kick off return to start at midfield. Howard sacks Collins on the first play. Dawkins with a safety blitz sacks him the next play to put them in 3rd and 22. Long pass is incomplete and they are in 4th and 22. Bunkley bats the ball down on 4th down. Westbrook breaks two tackles and runs it in 36 yards to ice the game. 22-10. Week 11, 2006 played in Philadelphia, PA 45 degrees, fair, 10 mph wind

Well now it is time to see how our team does against an elite passer/passing offense. We travel to play Indianapolis today.
They are 8-2. Their rushing attack is 20th (102.5) Their passing attack is number 2 in the league (284.3) Their offense is #1 overall (372.8) They are 7th in the league with points per game (21.7) However, Addai has fumbled 8 times this year! Peyton has thrown 8 picks and they are a -6 in the turnover margin. Their run defense is 14th (106.3) Pass defense is 14th (208) Points per game is 10th (16.0) They have only forced 12 turnovers all year. McFarland is their leading sack guy with 5.5 Cato June leads them with 2 interceptions. Manning has completed 249 of 374 passes for 2822 yards with 18 TD's and 8 INT's. Can we shut them down? I'll be running it slightly more in an attempt to keep their offense off the field. |

I might have gone overboard with posting the entire report. I might cut it down to top 15 or so for each category in the future. It is slowing the thread down for me as well. |

As we cross midfield, they intercept a McNabb pass.
We stop them on their first drive. McNabb is perfect on our next drive ending with a 5 yard TD pass to Greg Lewis! 7-0. We hold Manning to a FG on their next drive, but he is starting to connect with Harrison and Wayne. Sheldon Brown picks off a long pass towards Harrison on their next drive! A FG makes it 10-3, our lead. Harrison with a 28 yard reception on the first play of their next drive. Brown defends Harrison well on the next long attempt. A few plays later Harrison catches a 20 yard pass to convert a 3rd and 13. But, we stop them a few plays later and force a 33 yard FG. 10-6. Manning to Wayne for 26 yards on their next drive is one of the key plays. That drive ends in another short FG. 10-9 we lead still. They are moving the ball really well, but our Red zone defense is rock solid and they can't run it well. 15-10 they lead, on 5 field goals. The last quarter and a half, they have really been shutting down our offense. Early in the 4th, our defense stops them in the red zone again and they kick a 27 yard FG. 18-10. We need a TD right now. We exchange failed drives. We get the ball back with 8 minutes - down 8 points. Unfortunately, they stop us again. McNabb is only 12 of 22 so far. We force another 3 and out. We get the ball back with just under 4 minutes. 3 and out. We punt and try to force a quick 3 and out. Manning to Clark gets them a 1st down and that hurts. On 3rd and 10, Manning connect with Wayne for a 14 yard gain, but offensive holding negates it!!! We force a punt a play later. 1:20 and we need to go 94 yards. McNabb's long pass is intercepted at the 45 and returned for a TD. 25-10. They force a 4 and out and then run out the clock. 25-10 loss Week 12, 2006 played in Indianapolis, IN 68 degrees, fair, calm

Runyan was injured midway through the 2nd quarter. He will be out 2-3 weeks. Justice has his chance to shine.
The Giants won again and have now passed us with an 8-3 record while we are second with a 7-4 record. We would be a wild card team if the season ended today. Stallworth hasn't lit it up this year, but he is clearly a good #2 or #3 WR. He's willing to sign a new deal that is reasonably priced. 4 years at 8.7 million with a 1.8 million dollar signing bonus. I sign him to this new deal. I also sign Garcia to a 2 year 3.6 million dollar deal that will extend his current deal by a year. We also sign Buckhalter to a 2 year deal to extend his current deal a year. The deal is worth 1.4 million total. Finally, we extend Baskett's deal an extra year with same salary this year and 460,000 next year. |

What's really going to be interesting is to see how hard it is to shape a team into a Super Bowl contender.

Definitely agree. I already have plans on what i need to add next offseason. It will be interesting to see how hard it is to accomplish those goals. I think we need to add a true #1 receiver. A better SLB and possibly a better WLB. I think if I can meet those goals, we should be a SB team, which I will be surprised if this team advances that far this season. Unfortunately, my wife wants me to tear myself away from the game and spend time with her now. I'm looking forward to Neverwinter Nights 2 coming out this week in order to play it a bit, but mainly to get me more PT with FOF |

Wife is asleep, must get in at least one more game before bed
Our next game is hosting Carolina and we need a win badly. Carolina is 5-6 despite having the highly rated Jake Delhomme. Jake is 222 of 353 for 2304 yards with 17 TD's and 9 INT's on the year. DeAngelo Williams is the leading rusher with 193 carries for 766 yards with a TD. Overall, the team is 15th in rushing with 114.9 YPG. Their passing offense is 15th with 209.7 YPG. 18.8 PPG is 13th in the league. Defensively, they are 21st in the league giving up 114.5 YPG. However, their pass defense is 2nd giving up just 166.4 YPG. They are giving up 14.9 PPG which is 7th in the league. Turnover Margin is 0 which is tied for 18th. Meanwhile, our rushing attack is 3rd in the league with 138.8 YPG. Our passing offense is 16th in the league with 205.3 YPG. 20.2 PPG is 9th in the league. Defensively, we are allowing only 83.8 YPG which is 2nd in the league. We are allowing 154 YPG passing which is 1st in the league. We are only allowing 14.2 PPG which is 4th in the league. They go for it on 4th and 1 on our 30 and we stop them!
Winston Justice with a key run block on our first play to get Westbrook 8 yards. McNabb ends the drive with a 29 yard pass to Lewis! 7-0. McNabb was 3 of 3 for 58 yards on the drive. We force a fumble and recover it around midfield McNabb tries a long pass which they intercept at the 3 and return 77 yards to our 20. 2 plays later Steve Smith catches a 18 yard pass for a TD. 7-7. Their next drive, Colbert makes a 39 yard play (27 YAC) and they end their next drive with a 12 yard TD pass to Steve Smith. 14-7. A few drives later, McNabb fumbles on our 22. 3 plays later Colbert catches a 9 yard TD pass. 21-7. Down 21-10 at the half. We must have a good drive to start the 3rd. Their defensive line is getting tremendous pressure on McNabb. We end up punting. Howard sacks Delhomme and causes a fumble. Patterson recovers on their 17! 2 plays later McNabb throws a 17 yard strike to Stallworth for a TD! 21-17. Stallworth drops a TD pass on our next drive and we settle for a FG. 21-20, we are down. Colbert drops a 3rd down pass and we force a 3 and out. McNabb is sacked and fumbles again They recover. The rain is really making the ball slippery. Despite the very short field, we hold them to a FG. 24-20 with 12:50 left in the game. Akers misses a 45 yard FG. 3 and out. Good defense from us Dawkins forces Williams to fumble deep in their territory. McCoy recovers it! A few plays later McNabb throws a 2 yard TD pass to Stallworth. 27-24 with 3 minutes left! Colbert with a big 3rd down catch to convert a 3rd and 10. Keyshawn Johnson with a big catch a bit later to convert a 3rd and 6. They kick a FG as time is expiring to tie it up 27-27. Overtime. We kick off to them. Steve Smith catches a short pass and turns it into a 29 yard gain to get into our half of the field. A few plays later they are on our 23. Magnum catches a 20 yard pass and has them on our 3. We stop them on our 6, but they make the short FG and win it 30-27 in OT. Week 13, 2006 played in Philadelphia, PA 56 degrees, rain, 15 mph wind

We are now 7-5. The Giants are 9-3. This game at Washington is a must win.
I'm going to run Westbrook more. This is a must win game. Washington is 5-7 and Brunell has struggled, so this is definitely a very winnable game. |

They force us to go 3 and out despite Westbrook getting 8 yards on 1st down.
Fortunately, we force a 3 and out as well. 2 plays later, Westbrook with a 54 yard TD run!!! 7-0. He broke two tackles and then outran the defense Portis is pounding the ball down our defense, but Brunell isn't doing anything. Lewis drops a long pass that could have been a TD. Then on the next play, he fumbles after catching a short pass. Washington recovers. That leads to a Washington FG. 7-3. Westbrook has 111 yards on 11 carries at the half. We are up 7-3 at the half. After stopping Washington, McNabb connects on a 42 yard bomb to Reggie Brown on our first play of the 2nd half. But, we still settle for a FG. 10-3. Early in the 4th, we kick another FG. 13-3. Portis breaks a 54 yard TD run on their next drive and makes it 13-10. Chris Cogong goes down in the 4th with an injury. Dawkins intercepts a long pass to end their next drive. They force a 3 and out. They go for it on 4th and 12 on our 36. We stop them. We get the ball back with 2:16 left but McNabb throws a pick. Why did he throws that!?! Fortunately, we force them into 4th and 11 and we force an incomplete pass. With 1:17 left, we run it 3 times. They have to use all of their time outs. They have 40 seconds to go from their 13 to FG range. We injure Brunell on the first play, but he stays in the game. However, he doesn't move them at all. 13-10 win for us. Chris Gocong will be out for 2-3 weeks. Week 14, 2006 played in Washington, DC 45 degrees, rain, 7 mph wind

During the last game, Gocong suffered a strained abductor muscle that will keep him out for a few weeks. This will lead to Dhani Jones staying on the field much more.
The Giants are winning with a balanced offense. Tiki has been tearing it up the last few games and Eli is throwing quite a few picks but he is throwing for a lot of yards and TD's too. Their defensive line has been the strength of the defense. |

We stop them around midfield on their first drive.
Our first drive is marked by poor passing by McNabb but he converts a key 3rd and 10 with a pass to Brown. Also, Westbrook had a 25 yard run on the drive and ended it with a 2 yard TD run. 7-0. Our defense forces a 3 and out the next drive. Penalties kill our 2nd drive. Broderick Bunkley picks up a Tiki Barber fumble and returns it for a TD! 14-0 at the end of 1. We are moving the ball very well relying heavily on Westbrook. We drive inside the 5 where they stop us. 17-0 on the short FG. On their next drive, Toomer burns us deep for the 2nd time today for 30 yards. However, we intercept Manning's next pass on our 2. 17-0 we lead at the half. A drive late in the 3rd is marked by a 37 yard pass to Stallworth, but it fizzles and Akers misses a 42 yard FG. A few plays later Manning hits another long bomb, and another to Toomer for a 33 yard TD. 17-7. 13 minutes left. They force a 3 and out. Darren Howard picks up a minor injury the next play. We stop them around midfield. 9:22 left. We put together a long drive that ends in a missed 49 yard FG but it ate up 6 minutes of clock time. Manning with some quick mediym to long strikes gets them inside our 10 with 1:09 to go. However, our defense then tightens up and forces them to eat up most of the clock before they score the 1 yard TD run. We recover the onside kick. We run out the clock. 17-14 win for us. Week 15, 2006 played in New York, NY 51 degrees, fair, 10 mph wind

Darren Howard injured his hamstring and there is a high risk of re-injury. Unfortunately, I'm going to rest him during our next game which is at Dallas. Trent Cole will have to step up.
The good news is we are now 9-5 and first in the NFC East. Also, one more win should guarantee us at least a wildcard. Here is a look at the standings now:

Yes. If there is a big name WR still available mid-late 1st round, I'll be trying to trade back up into the first round. |

Next up is at Dallas in a critical game.
Dallas is 9th in rushing yards, 1st in completion percentage but 21st in passing yards. They have only given up 17 turnovers and have a plus 11 margin which is 4th in the NFL. Defensively, they are giving up 106.4 rushing yards per game (13th) and 190.9 passing yards per game (6th.) Despite this they are 7-7. Bledsoe has completed 265 of 390 passes for 2700 yards with 16 TD's and 7 INT's. Julius Jones has over 1000 yards rushing on 261 carries while Barber has 642 yards on 169 carries. T.O leads all of their receivers with 44 catches for 741 yards but only has 1 TD. Witten leads the team with 6 receiving TD's. |

Gocong, Runyan, and Howard are missing the game due to injury.
Our 2nd drive, Buckhalter has a key 28 yard run. We end up having a McNabb TD run called back for holding, but the next play he throws a slant 12 yards to Brown for a TD! 10-0 early in the 2nd. They respond with a long time consuming drive that ends with a 9 yard TD pass to Glenn. 10-7. Crap. Great drive all the way down to the 1. They stop us on run attempts on 1st and 2nd. McNabb throws an interception to Greg Ellis in the endzone on 3rd down. As time is expiring, they miss a 43 yard FG. I love the idiot kicker 10-7 at half, we lead. Dallas goes up 14-10, and a bit later a tipped pass leads to McNabb's second interception of the day. We need to turn things around. WE hold them to a short FG. 17-10. Time for a TD drive.. Brown drops a long pass on our first play. Next play he throws a bomb to Greg Lewis for 31 yards. They are stuffing Westbrook all day. They force us into a long FG which Akers pushes just wide right. 6:49 left, we need a stuff, but Glenn catches the first pass for 13 yards. Bledsoe is tearing us up. He certainly isn't playing like a 30/30 QB. We get them into a 3rd and 5 on our 28, but Bledsoe hits Owens for 20 (only his 3rd catch today - unfortunately he had a long one against us earlier in the day.) Sheldon Brown intercepts it in the endzone with 2 minutes left to give us life! A good pass rush leads to 2 incomplete passes and Brown drops a 3rd down pass... McNabb is sacked by Greg Ellis on 4th down and he fumbles it. Either way, it is Dallas ball. They kick the short FG after running it 3 times to finish off the win. McNabb isn't giving up.. he connects with Baskett on a 46 yard pass.. HThen, he connects with Stallworth for a 21 yard gain. Unfortunately, time runs out. 20-10 loss. The good news is that New Orleans is beating the Giants 17-14... time to watch the end of that game. Brees is sacked on 3rd down and the Saints punt back to the Giants. The Giants on their own 48 and only need a FG to tie. Barber with 3 big runs in a row for 12, 14, and 15 yards. Barber with a 5 yard run. However, the defense toughens up and forces a FG!! 17-17. New Orleans with 22 seconds to drive.. Conwell drops a key 3rd down pass and it is going to OT. The Saints get it first! Bush with a 2 yard run. He has 10 carries for 26 yards on the day. They stop Bush on 3rd down and Saints have to punt. The Saints get them in 3rd and 4th, but they convert with a 11 yard pass. The Saints force a punt a few plays later Unfortunaely, the Saints go 3 and out. Saints force a 3 and out! Bush can't quite break a long one, but he does give the Saints good field position McAllister with 2 big runs gets into Giant's territory. A Holding call kills the drive Manning with a 23 yard strike to Toomer to advance to about midfield. Another pass to Toomer gets 17 more yards. The Giants will attempt a 45 yard FG for the win... they miss it! However, the Saints are running out of time... They drive to midfield, but time runs out Tie game. That means I need the Giants to lose their next game and I need to win in order to win the division. Week 16, 2006 played in Dallas, TX 49 degrees, rain, 1 mph wind

The good news is that (assuming my calculations are correct) we will advance to the Playoffs as a wild card if we win this last game. We are 9-6.
The top two NFC teams (Detroit and GB) are both 7-8. Carolina is 9-6 and Tampa Bay is 8-7. The 2nd place team in that divison will be 9-7. Actually, no the two wildcard teams will go to St. Louis, Arizona, or Seattle who are all 11-4 currently in the very tough NFC West. Darn, I must win and the Giants must lose. We host Atlanta who are 7-8. The Giants host the Redskins who are 6-9. It doesn't look good. |

Sorry. I'm sort of hoping the patch will come out before I hit the end season button as I'm guessing that the patch might play nicer with this career if I haven't started the 2nd season. So I'm trying to slow down the pace a bit, but either way I will finish the regular season tomorrow.

I'm using the create HTML button. Then, I'm going to the folder where that is generated opening a browser with the HTML. Once that is done, I navigate to the window I want, copy, and then paste. With the WYSIWYG editor enabled on the board it is easy.

Time to play the game against Atlanta. I'll be focusing on stopping their passing game which has been surprisingly good this year.
They are 7th in passing yards with an average of 230.6 YPG. Vick is 284 of 456 for 3,186 yards on the season with 15 TD's and 10 INT's. Schaub has played very well in limited backup duty. Their running game is 24th in the league and Warrick Dunn only has 200 carries for only 704 yards. Michael Jenkins is their leading receiver with 51 catches for 707 yards. They have a plus 13 turnover margin which is 3rd in the NFL as their defense has forced 29 turnovers (including 13 fumbles recovered.) Their run defense is 25th in the NFL while their pass defense is 6th, so I'll be focusing on running it a bit more this week. Runyan is back at 100% and will start this game. Howard is going to risk re-injury in this critical game. Let's hope the Redskins can upset the Giants.. |

Our first drive is 3 and out.
Vick helps guide them down the field and they run it in from the 1. 7-0 Atlanta. The good news is that Washington is up 7-0.. They force another 3 and out! Fortunately, we force a punt. Meanwhile, It is now 7-3 Washington. McNabb to Smith for a TD. We went 97 yards on that drive, mostly through the air. We force a 3 and out! NY scores a TD and makes it 10-7. We exchange several failed drives, before Atlanta hits a 42 yard FG. 10-7. Atlanta gets another FG at the end of the half. 13-7. Worse, New York scores another Td. 17-7 at the end of the half in that game. Washington makes it 17-10, least they are closing in. Greg Lewis catches a very short pass, fakes out a defender, and makes it into a 43 yard gain! Unfortunately, we fail to score a TD from within the 10 and settle for a FG. 13-10, Atlanta. Midway through the 3rd, we force a 3 and out! Crap. New York makes it 24-10. Akers misses a 50 yard FG to keep it 13-10. We force a 3 and out. Washington scores a long TD pass to make it 24-17! A few minutes later, McNabb fumbles on a scramble. Atlanta recovers. Kearse with another huge sack forces a 3 and out. We start on our 5. 3 quick passes to LJ Smith drives us across midfield. Runyan gives up a big sack that forces us out of FG range. At least, we pin them inside their 5. Only 4:40 left in the game. We quickly get the ball back and a bad punt leads to great field position at their 39. Washington has made it 24-20 with 13:00 left. 3:05 left and McNabb underthrows Stallworth on 3rd down. Akers hits a 53 yard FG!!! 13-13. Washington just scored a quick TD! 27-24, Washington leads. Atlanta is driving towards midfield with 1:17 left. Howard with a huge sack! Jenkins drops a 3rd down pass. Avant gets us a good punt return to their 40. McNabb throws it Brown for 25 yards! After a quick run, we are inside the 30, but a false start pushes us back to the 35. They sack McNabb and we end up trying a 55 yard FG. Akers misses it. It's going into overtime.. They get the ball first... Finneran returns it 82 yards for a TD! Washington is winning 27-24 with 1:50 left too.. New York lost the game 27-24, but we blew our chance. We end with a very disappointing loss and a 9-7 record. Our season is over. Week 17, 2006 played in Philadelphia, PA 40 degrees, fair, 10 mph wind

I'm looking forward to it too. I'm going to try to wait for the 1st patch before entering the offseason. Based on past years, I'm guessing it should be out in the next week.

Missed this post last week (or two weeks ago), or I would have answered much sooner. After debating with myself quite a bit the last few days, I've decided I'm going to re-start the entire dynasty from the beginning. Just a few of the many reasons: - My team missed out on the playoffs due to a bug (safety not recording correctly.) - Receivers (and other positions) tuned to be used more appropriately and therefore receiving stats (and possibly other stats) are more realistic. - I think scouting error is fine tuned and will lead to less loss of real players from rosters and for fictional game created players in the first pre-season. So, I'm hoping you and anyone else who is following along isn't too disappointed, but I'll do a fresh re-start. I expect that to happen tomorrow night after work with a sim chance of it starting tonight. |
