You traded Randle and Gibson?
You better hope Favre turns out as good as he did in real life or you'll be lynched.

Quote:
Giving up Gibson hurts more than giving up Randle, we have alot of depth at linebacker and Jerry Ball in the middle of the line so 3-4 seems pretty reasonable. Curtis Green is a great pass rusher so Randle was a luxury as his run defense was pretty crappy (almost a clone of Green). Gibson was young and our best backer with Cofer but I didn't want to give up more picks so he was all I could get rid of. Next years crop of QB's isn't very promising with the highlights being Jeff Blake. That number 1 could be pretty high next year so the Jets may be able to get something good for it but I had to get Favre, the defense is very good and the rest of the team is solid, all we need is a pivot. Besides the Detroit faithful wouldn't lynch me, the Ford's don't fire anyone and Millen isn't dead yet, maybe this season they'll stage a walk out, I'm trembling in my recliner. |

First round picks
Spoiler
Team Preview Quarterbacks: As of right now Peete is better than Favre but we know he is never going to be the answer at quarterback so Favre has to be the starter. We were going to take lumps this season anyways, might as well be with an eye to the future. Gagliano is a good mentor and should aid in Favre’s development. Rating: C+ Runningbacks: Barry is an unstoppable force, injury is the only thing that can stop him. Well injury or getting down so much we can’t run the ball anymore. Mel Gray is still a very dangerous return man, but he leaves something to be desired as a runner. Tony Paige is one of the best blockers in the league and will continue to lead the way for Barry. Depth is a concern at all of the positions. Rating: B+ Receivers: With the addition of Herman Moore and Keenan McCardell the Lions actually have quality threats. If Largent had remained with the team this group would be scary. Well maybe not this year, but they should form a good young nucleus with Favre and Barry. At tight end James Jones is a good blocker and decent receiver, while converted fullback Larry Centers is all receiver. Rating: B+ Offensive Line: The line is solid but not spectacular at all positions. Harvey Salem is the only liability but that is only in the passing game. Unfortunately this group is aging and may not be able to stick together for that much longer. There are 2 or 3 good years left here at most. Rating: B Defensive Line: Eric Williams is still a dominant end and can play in any situation. The other end position is more of a question mark. Brooks is a dominant run stopper, but offers little of a pass rush, while Ferguson is showing signs of age and will be a backup this season. Jerry Ball is an elite run stopper in the middle of the line and this season will be counted on more in passing downs as Curtis Green will replace Brooks instead of Ball on passing downs. Rating: B+ Linebackers: Even with the loss of Gibson this unit is the deepest on the team. There are no real standouts however and a star would make this unit on of the best in the league. Cofer is very good at putting heat on the quarterback and Spielman is coming into his own as an all around linebacker. Karpinski will be counted on to deliver on all of the potential that has been associated with his name. Rating: B+ Secondary: The safety combo of Blades and White is one of the best in the league and are now entering their 4th season together. They are in their primes and should be dominant this season. The corners are either very young (Crockett, Davis, Lofton) or very old (Irvin). All are serviceable, but none can be relied upon to shut down a top receiver, like say Sterling Sharpe. Depth is a concern at corner but Oldham, Griffin and Hanks provide excellent depth at safety. Rating: B Specialists: Murray and Arnold remain reliable, battle tested weapons and should each have another strong season. Gray is a very dangerous return man and could steal a couple of games this season. Rating: A Outlook: More of the same, except it looks like the quarterback situation is settled. Unfortunately for Lions fans results probably can’t be expected this season. It looks like another season around 500 is in the cards. Last edited by nilodor : 05-18-2007 at 08:26 PM. |

Week 1
at Bears(0-0) (+1) Passing: Favre 18-25 182 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 24-121 1 td Receiving: Moore 8-90 1 td I think I can handle this kind of game. The first of the Favre era starts with a 300 yard plus offensive showing. Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of the final score but we’re taking baby steps here. The one interception occurred at the end of the game and the completion percentage was a welcome change. Final: 24-17 L Injuries: Jones out 2 weeks Week 2 vs Raiders(1-0) (-5) Passing: Favre 18-26 174 1 td Rushing: Sanders 13-52 Receiving: Stanley 3-57 As soon as I speak about how proud I am of our team they go out and hang 222 yards on the Raiders. This is just killing me, we’ve had what? One 400 yard game in our history, we need to do better. On the plus side we held the Bionic Man Bo Jackson to 58 yards. However Jeff Francis (who?), Tim Brown and Willie Gault went nuts to the tune of 291 yards. Marcus Allen also hurt us averaging 34 yards a return. Final: 23-20 L Week 3 at Panthers(1-1) (-4) Passing: Favre 15-26 157 1 int Rushing: Sanders 26-88 Receiving: Centers 3-42 Really a terrible game, we outgained the Panthers 300 to 211 and were even on turnovers. However, our one interception came in the red zone and was returned for a touchdown and on the ensuing drive we had a holding call on the kick return, so we started at the 10, then a sack, then a holding call in the end zone, safety. The other two times we made it to the red zone, we managed only field goals. The Jets may be really, really happy this season . Final: 9-6 L Week 4 vs St. Louis(2-1) (-3) Passing: Favre 17-24 165 Rushing: Sanders 31-108 2 td Receiving: Clark 4-50 Somehow we are still favoured in this game, despite being 0 and 3. I’m still thinking there is some kind of point shaving scandal going on here. Another good defensive effort as we limited the Rams to 260 yards and put an end to Jim Everett’s hot streak (he had gone 300+ yards the last two weeks). This game was the opposite of the last one, both of their two 10+ play drives ended with fumbles in the redzone, and both of those fumbles led to Lions touchdowns. Final: 20-0 W Week 5 Bye, the most interesting thing is that the Niners are still winless despite having the best offense in the league, led by Steve Young, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice. Their downfall is their defense is by far the worst in the league, giving up over 30 points per game and over 400 yards a game. They kind of remind me of recent Bengals teams. |

Week 6
at Green Bay(2-3) (-2) Passing: Favre 21-31 214 2 td Rushing: Sanders 31-143 1 td Receiving: McCardell 8-88 1 td Ahh our nemesis Sterling Sharpe, what can we hold him to today? The answer, a respectable 84 yards on 5 catches. Not bad, not great, but better than before. Unfortunately for us we should have been more focused on Keith Woodside who had two receptions for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns, ouch. The one on 3 and 13 from the 4 was an absolute backbreaker. I’m starting to become concerned about the Gibson trade in that we may need to find a new SILB. Karpinski shows a lot of potential, but he has been slow to develop and we have been gashed in his area a few times. If I don’t see improvement by midseason, there may be some position switching on the horizon. Final:28-24 L Week 7 vs San Francisco(0-5) (-8) Passing: Favre 19-30 189 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 31-206 1 td, Favre 2-12 2 td (selfish jerk) Receiving: McCardell 5-61 1 td Like I said before, the Niners are the most exciting team in the game today. Everyone of their games are absolute shootouts, and this was no different. 4 lead changes and 856 yards combined later, it was one hell of a game. Steve Young managed to throw for 384 yards, with his favourite target Jerry Rice amassing 184, however Emmitt was held in check only gaining 27 yards on 17 carries. On the good side of the ball Barry went to town, gaining over 200 yards and was a 3rd down conversion machine, converting 8 3rd downs. Week 8 at Seattle(5-1) (+5) Passing: Favre 13-24 165 Rushing: Sanders 19-66 (1 fumble of his was recovered by Keenan and returned for a score) Receiving: McCardell 3-62 I have officially had enough, 7 tackles in 6 games is not a good total for a starting middle linebacker, so Jimmy Williams has been moved from backup outside linebacker (where he was quite unhappy) to starting inside linebacker (where he is quite undersized). The result, well Williams had half as many tackles in one game as Karp had in 6 so that’s good news, well the only good news today. A not very talented, overachieving Seahawks team just killed us. We managed 205 yards, no turnovers (while forcing one) but just couldn’t get anything going. John L. Williams and Jim McMahon had good days and just methodically pounded us to find blue paste. Interesting side note, I think we had the least number of possessions I have ever seen with 8. Seattle didn’t have any big plays, just really, really long drives. Final: 31-7 L Week 9 vs Chicago(7-0) (+11) Passing: Favre 14-18 182 1 td Rushing: Sanders 25-114 1 td Receiving: Clark 4-69 1 td Well the 72 Dolphins now have one less team to worry about, leaving only Travis’s Moon led squad undefeated at the midway point. This game was won because Mike Tomczak is a bum and Mel Gray is a god. OK so Mike isn’t a bum but his fumble and interception paved the way to two Lions touchdowns and Mel had a prodigious day returning kicks, amassing almost 300 return yards (oddly no touchdowns) as we cruised to victory today. Hopefully we can find a way to beat some teams we should beat, instead of 11 point favourites, not that beating 11 point favourites is a bad thing, I’d just like to win when we’re favoured every once and a while. Final:27-13 W Injuries: Lomas Brown is out 3 weeks Up next midseason stuff |

Week 10
at Arizona(3-5) (-1) Passing: Favre 15-23 135 Rushing: Sanders 31-141 Receiving: Sanders 5-56 There were some weird statistics in this game. Our average yard to go on 3rd down was 10.7 yards, eventhough we had a good day running the ball. This game was also a field goal battle between Eddie Murray and Al Del Greco, with Murray coming out on top. Ray Crockett added a late fumble return for a score to widen the final margin. I’m somewhat perplexed about our teams struggles in the passing game. Eventhough we have a quality quarterback and receivers, we are 29th in the league in passing. My best guess is the cohesion factor is looking large here (backfield cohesion of 66) and also inexperience is hurting us as well. My personal feeling with these historical starts is it is hard to get a bad team good quick because of two things, I think the draft files I have created have less talent then we are used to, I feel it is a more accurate talent level but I’m sure others opinions would differ, second, contract lengths reflect how long a player stayed with a team. For example Barry Sanders was on the Lions until 2000 so his contract length in 91 is 7 years (the max), because of this it is harder to build up cohesion (and consequently get good players in free agency) because less players are hitting the open market. Final: 16-6 W Week 11 at Minnesota(4-5) (+2) Passing: Favre 15-20 111 2 td Rushing: Sanders 31-150 Receiving: Moore 3-41 1 td The defense did a great job today, limiting one of our NFC Norris division nemeses Herschel Walker to 54 yards (big victory if you have been reading along). As a whole we held them to 196 yards and eclipsed the 300 yard (354) barrier ourselves. The odd thing was this was all done without any turnovers, which is normally a hallmark of a strong defensive effort. Eventhough Favre is a rookie, he is a definite upgrade to Peete/Hipple and I have confidence that him with Barry, Herman and Keenan we will have quite the potent offense for years to come (although the lack of yardage is a concern). Remind me to do a comparison of the trade last season to see the final result. And on the plus side we have hit 500, hooray, lets hope we don’t finish 7-9 again! Final:20-14 W Week 12 at Kansas City(5-5) (+1) Passing: Favre 9-15 74 1 int Rushing: Sanders 37-93 Receiving: Clark 3-48 Man what a snoozer, 372 combined yards total offense today. It was really windy, maybe that had an effect. The touchdowns today came from good ol Mel Gray (69 yard punt return) and import LeRoy Irvin with an interception return. Really nothing to report, biggest news would be we went sub 100 yards passing and Neil Smith was a total non factor (1 tackle, 2 assists). The only other news is the 76 Bucs can pop the cork after a win by the hapless Houston Texans. Final: 17-3 W (6-5) Week 13 vs Philadelphia(9-2) (-1) Passing: Favre 18-34 174 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 14-34 1 td Receiving: McCardell 5-60 1td How are we favoured in this game? Seriously it doesn’t make sense. Philly has Randall Cunningham (playing upto his Tecmo lore BTW with 111 yards rushing and 216 yards passing), Cris Carter, Keith Jackson, Eric Allen, Jerome Brown, Clyde Simmons, Reggie White, Andre Water, Eric Swann oh and my favourite kicker Donald Igwebuike. Anyways you get the picture, we got smoked. Stop favouring us vegas, you’re killing us. BTW Travis, Tennessee is still hot at 12-0! Speaking of them Warren Moon is having the most amazing season, 68.5%, 3366 yards, 31 touchdowns and 1 interception, crazy. Final: 41-14 L (6-6) |

Week 14
vs San Diego(4-8) (-8) Passing: Favre 17-26 193 2 td 3 int Rushing: Sanders 27-133 1 td Receiving: Jones 4-63 Man was this a worrisome game. I watched the game on solevision and we were in big trouble early and I mean Quinn Early (sorry bout that), who scored 2 early touchdowns after Favre threw interceptions on our first two drives, deep in our own territory. Luckily for us, Peter Tom Willis was in a giving mood and snuffed out two more certain scoring drives with picks of his own. LeRoy brought another pick back to the house to seal the game, he is turning out to be quite a good investment. Penalties hurt as we went Raider style 9-117 yards. Tennessee keeps up its winning ways with a miracle comeback (down 31-24 with 5 minutes left) to remain undefeated. Final: 31-14 W (7-6) Week 15 vs Green Bay(5-7-1) (-3) Passing: Favre 21-37 199 2 td 2 int Rushing: Sanders 9-53 Receiving: Clark 4-77 1 td ****, Favre killed us today, maybe some kind of karma for keeping him from the packers? We held Shape in check, well for us anyway as he *only* had 88 yards on 8 receptions, mind you 2 were for touchdowns. Favre’s two picks proved very costly as both cost us sure scores and both resulted in packer touchdowns. Bah! For those keeping track at home Tennessee moved to 14-0 with a 31-10 victory. Side note, we are 1 game back of the Giants for the final playoff spot after some injuries have them on a 3 game skid, not sure how the tie breakers pan out, needless to say we need to win out. Final: 35-14 L (7-7) Week 16 at Denver (8-6) (+3) Passing: Favre 20-34 188 1 td Rushing: Sanders 20-115 1 td Receiving: Clark 4-48 ****, again, this time 4 fumbles from Favre killed us, 4, and all led to Bronco touchdowns. Bah, John Elway does not need our help killing us, Hipple maybe, Elway no. Bronco end Ron Holmes picked up 3.5 sacks (and 3 forced fumbles today) to make me weep. On the plus side the Giants lost, however they no longer hold the final playoff spot. The Niners have stormed back to over take them (we hold that tiebreaker), going 8 and 1 over the last 10. So basically we need to win, and have the Niners and Giants lose and I think we are in. Tennessee wins again, with a date in Indy all that stands between them and immortality. Final: 28-16 L (7-8) If we go 7-9 again I will kill someone. Week 17 vs Minnesota (5-10) (-4) Passing: Favre 20-26 212 Rushing: Sanders 33-137 1 td Receiving: McCardell 6-76 So we need a victory and we just crushed the Vikings. We outgained them 389 to 199, forcing two turnovers and limiting Walker to 41 yards. Joey Browner had 15 tackles for the Vikings, that was the only interesting performance this week. The more interesting games were the Niners at home to the Cardinals (4-11), the Giants at the Redskins (11-4) and Tennessee at the Colts (7-8). Humbug, ****, ****. We lost out on the strength of victory tiebreak, even though ours was pretty good. Good news for Tennessee, Buffalo due to some injuries missed the playoffs so their nemesis isn’t there to thwart them this time. |

This has been a very interesting game so far, Philly has been dominant but the 3 fumbles have killed them, all snuffed out promising drives and the missed field goal could have this one all tied up.

Interesting about all of those the defense looked familiar with that play, Cunningham knows 15 formations, maybe it's because their head coach is only an average offensive play caller?

Up next will be the offseason, at least we didn't finish 7-9. I am kinda chived about that whole missing the playoffs tiebreaker thing, but if we didn't want the tiebreaker we should have beaten Green Bay. Not a bad season, we really need the offense to come together before the defense gets too old, I think we have 2, maybe 3 years tops before we need to do some retooling on defense.

Off Season
Retirements Ken Dallafior LeRoy Irvin, the revolving door at corner just keeps spinning Sending to Summer League Brett Favre, hope you found someone to mow the lawn, cause you’re going to Europe. Free Agency Needs: 4th WR SILB 3rd CB 4th CB There isn’t really a whole lot of talent available in the market. This season I get shut out in the LB market but manage to pick up Hart Lee Dykes, Mark Duper and Lewis Billups. Draft: With our first round pick going to the Jets it will be a pretty quiet draft. 2-19 CB - Jimmy Spencer - Florida 21/33 3-18 RB – Edgar Bennett – Florida State 21/30 4-11 WR – Milt Stegall – Miami, Ohio 21/45 4-17 LB – Ed McDaniel – South Carolina 16/46 5-16 DT – Santana Dotson – Baylor 20/37 6-19 C – Jeff Christy – Pittsburgh 13/14 7-18 FB – Tommy Vardell – Stanford 21/51 Overall: A- |

Now lets take a look back at the Favre trade to see what I have given up:
The Trade: Detroit Sends: 1-12, 1st in 92, John Randle and Dennis Gibson Jets Send: 1-3 and 4th in 92 So lets do the easy part Jets Send: 1-3 Brett Favre – Has all the makings of a franchise quarterback, the question remains will he be a good starter or a great starter. 4-11 Milt Stegall – Looking good for a number 3 receiver Detroit Sends: John Randle – Not a good fit for the Jets as they use the 3-4, ratings are 35/40 Dennis Gibson – 61/61 – A stud in the middle, has played very well 1-12 -> Shipped to NE for 1st in 92 and 3rd in 91 3rd in 91 – Tracy Simien – WLB – 17/37 DNP – 3rd on depth chart 1st in 92 from NE – Turned out to be the 2nd overall pick, and they traded it back to NE for 2-92, 4-94 and 6-94, which is insane because there were good players on the board and the got terrible value and are not in cap trouble. 2 – 92 – Joe Bowden – WLB – 37/51 – Solid player, should start for years to come 1st in 92 from us – Turned into the 16th overall pick, which they selected George Koonce – WLB – 27/40, will be the backup WLB to Bowden. So if the Jets hadn’t of made that final deal to NE, giving up the second overall pick (traded during the draft) they could have gotten a really good player and probably came out ahead on this deal. As it stands, it was a pretty even deal, provided Favre keeps moving towards being a franchise guy. If he tops out, we’re losers, in more ways then one. |

Team Preview
Backfield: This really is Favre’s show now. He had a decent first season but now he needs to show some signs of greatness. Moore and McCardell are talented receivers and Barry Sanders is essentially a jet powered eel out of the backfield. Edgar Bennett should provide a little more production out of the backfield when compared to previous backups, although he still isn’t that great. Larry Centers is taking over full time at tight end, he is a terrific receiver but an iffy blocker. This unit is still very young and don’t know each other that well, their cohesion is the only thing holding them and this team back. Grade: B Offensive Line: This well oiled machine is back together for another year, although this may be the last one for starting tackle Harvey Salem. His pass blocking numbers have continued to suffer and it is now only a matter of time before Boatswain will take over. The rest of the line is solid, but unspectacular. They have done a good job of keeping the quarterbacks upright and provided big holes in the running game eventhough they have ranked near the bottom in adjusted line yards the past couple of years. Grade: B+ Defensive Front: This is still a solid unit led by Eric Williams, who has 29 sacks over the last 3 years, which is quite remarkable for a 3-4 end. Jerry Ball is the anchor in the middle and is a dominant run stuffer. Kevin Brooks is the starting end and is also good against the run, however he comes out of the game for pass rush specialist Curtis Green on passing downs. The front 3 is getting older and starting to decline in ability, they probably only have 2 or 3 good years left. The linebacking core is a deep unit led by 10th year man Mike Cofer and 5th year man Chris Spielman. Spielman has really improved his game over the last few seasons and is now an every down player and will be a force to come in next few years. Ed McDaniel is starting next to him in the middle and is expected to struggle while he gets a feel for the speed of the pro game, however he is the future of this group. The outside guys are still solid but getting up in age with Cofer in his 10th season and Jamieson in his 9th. They don’t have too many years left. Grade: A- Secondary: This unit is a tale of two groups, one the safeties have been solid for years, and will be solid for years to come. The other, the corners, a group in transition, which finally appears to be settling down with Crockett and Davis starting at the corners. For once there is some depth at corner and hopefully these guys can play upto their potential and limit opportunities for opposing offenses. Grade: B+ Specialists: Murray and Arnold have given several great seasons, but both are on the downsides of their careers. The question is how many good years do each of them have left. Return specialist Mel Gray is a difference maker in the return game. He is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Grade: A- Projected Record: 9-7 |

Week 1
vs Green Bay (0-0) (+1) Passing: Favre 10-20 92 1 int Rushing: Sanders 29-133 3 td Receiving: McCardell 3-38 Well Favre’s second season came in with a whimper, a serious whimper. First play of the game, crowd is jacked up, excited for what the new season will bring. Favre drops back to pass, Moore is wide open and interception, touchdown. If it wasn’t for Barry we’d be in deep s**t. The defense had a good day today intercepting Jay Schroeder (who I used to call Jay Shreddies as a kid). Mel Gray had a good day returning kicks, excluding the 3 fumbles. Actually the more I think about it, this game was pretty crappy all around except for Barry, lots of balls hitting the turf, Sterling going over 100 yards, again, good ol Lions football, except for the whole average starting on your own 40 bit. Final: 24-16 W Week 2 vs Jacksonville (0-1) (-1) Passing: Favre 14-20 119 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 36-184 1 td Receiving: McCardell 5-38 1 td Maybe it’s something about Barry. If you have Barry you can’t throw for more yards than he rushes for. It’s killing me, I’ve tried different coaches, different game plans, let the computer game plan, got good receivers, just not getting good results. The only thing I can think of is since our cohesion is so bad, it is really effecting offensive production. Final: 21-11 W (2-0) Injuries: Brooks – Out 3 weeks with strained ab Week 3 vs New Orleans (1-1) (-4) Passing: Favre 20-28 222 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 22-98 1 td Receiving: Moore 8-93 1 td We’re getting back to that old 89 Lions style game, where we win some giant turnover fest and just squeak enough offense out to win the game. Kubiak had more passes defended then completed today, plus threw 3 picks and fumbled twice. Also I’m predicting 2000 yards this year for Barry. That’s 125 yards a game, I’ll keep you updated on his progress. Final: 18-15 W (What kind of score is this, it’s like one of those scores you draw for some pool) (3-0) March to 2000: 415 yards 138 ypg Week 4 at Dallas (1-1) (E) Passing: Favre 20-24 194 1 td Rushing: Sanders 31-182 1 td Receiving: Proehl 4-55 This game was no where near as close as the final score indicated. Two Favre fumbles gave Dallas all of their points (one returned for a touchdown, the other within field goal range). Other than that the defense held Aikman and Irvin in check. All they need is a running back because Reggie Dupard and Rueben Mayes aren’t cutting it. Wonder how that Emmitt guy is doing in San Fran? Answer, 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns a year. Let’s all shed a tear for the Cowboys. Final: 17-10 W (4-0) Have we ever started this good? March to 2000: 597 yards 149 ypg |

Week 5
at Philly (2-2) (-2) Passing: Favre 19-35 138 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 21-86 1 td Receiving: Moore 3-41 Bah, this was one of those games that great teams win and well, we proved today that we aren’t a great team. Here is the play by play. 1Q: 06:28 DET - James Jones 15 pass from Brett Favre (Eddie Murray extra point) 1Q: 05:16 DET - Barry Sanders 9 run (Eddie Murray extra point) 2Q: 08:45 PHI - Donald Igwebuike 21 field goal 2Q: 02:00 PHI - Safety: Britt Hager tackled receiver in end zone 3Q: 07:19 DET - Eddie Murray 45 field goal 3Q: 02:33 PHI - Jerome Brown 49 fumble return (Donald Igwebuike extra point) 4Q: 10:15 PHI - Keith Jackson 8 pass from Randall Cunningham (Randall Cunningham pass to Cris Carter for conversion) 4Q: 02:16 PHI - Wes Hopkins 76 interception return (Donald Igwebuike extra point) Turnovers and that safety just killed us. When you contain Cunningham (164 yards) and Cris Carter (4 rec-15 tar 55 yards) you should win, but they just want to make my hair fall out. As a side note the minister of defense now has 7.5 sacks this season and 52 in the last 4 years. Final: 27-17 L (4-1) Barry2000: 683, 136.6 ypg, pace: 2185.6 Week 6 vs Giants (3-1) (-3) Passing: Favre 20-37 193 2 int Rushing: Sanders 16-86 1 td Receiving: Moore 4-56 All we need is for Favre to have a decent game, manage the game and not turn the ball over. Simple, right? Wrong, this is going to be one of those years, I can just feel it. Nothing really notable today, just a lot of bad offense and field goals and two Eric Davis interceptions in a losing cause. Final: 13-10 L (4-2) ChasingEric: 769/128.2/2050 Week 7 vs Chicago (4-1) (+2) Passing: Favre 24-41 223 1 td 1 int Rushing: Sanders 23-133 Receiving: Centers 3-61 Zzzz, huh what, it’s still going? Really? God, someone score , anybody score. This game may have been outscored by a Tigers, White Sox game. With a combined 21 punts and 24 first downs it was a snoozefest. Favre was sacked 9 times with Trace Armstrong netting 4 and Dent adding 2 of his own and if it wasn’t for a Tom Waddle fumble in overtime, this game would have ended in a tie. Final: 10-7 W (5-2) Chasing Eric: 902/128.9/2061 Injuries: Mike Cofer is out 4 week with a hyperextended knee Week 8 at Green Bay (2-5) (-8) Passing: Favre 16-26 213 3 td Rushing: Sanders 25-152 Receiving: Moore 6-103 2 td This game sure didn’t start off very promising, the first two Packer drives resulted in touchdowns, while our first two drives resulted in no first downs, a fumble and a punt. Again we were falling into the trap of one of the coaches skimming points for his bookie. Then a god wearing a number 20 jersey arrived and led the Lions on two long drives, capped by Herman Moore touchdowns to draw the score even. From there the Lions controlled the pace and not even Sterling Sharpe himself could sway the final result (although he sure did try, going over 100 yards again against us). Final: 31-24 W (6-2) Chasing Eric: 1054/131.75/2108 Week 9 Bye (6-2) Up next midseason report |
