NL Rookie Vote Goes to Christensen
Monday, June 1st, 1925: Cuckoo Christensen was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's National League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting. In 28 games Christensen batted .302 for Chicago, slapping 35 hits in 116 at-bats with no home runs, drove in 13 runs and scored 18 times. So far this season Christensen is batting .290 with no home runs. Waner Named Newcomer of the Month Monday, June 1st, 1925: Paul Waner earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the American League for last month's performance. The boyish Detroit right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Waner hit .400 with 1 home run, 23 RBIs and 25 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. This year Waner is hitting .360, produced 33 RBIs and 2 home runs, scored 40 times and gotten on base at a .425 rate. Phillies Hurler Named NL's Best Starter Monday, June 1st, 1925: Joe Bush's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-2 in May, the 32-year-old Philadelphia hurler has been named National League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 39 in 54 innings, logged an ERA of 2.17 and allowed opponents to hit .207 against him. Checking out his stats for the season, Bush has registered 7 wins and 4 losses in 14 starts, 3.13 ERA and struck out 61 batters in 97.2 innings. |

Freddie Lindstrom Captures Rookie of Month
Saturday, August 1st, 1925: When all of the votes were counted for the Rookie of the Month in July, Freddie Lindstrom of the New York Giants was on top of the pile. The standout third baseman rifled hits here, there and everywhere in National League ballparks the entire month to win the honor. The 19-year-old third baseman took the trophy by putting up a .407 average and .438 on-base percentage, 37 hits, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 26 runs scored. So far this year Lindstrom has 4 home runs and a .358 batting average. Haas Top of His Class in July Saturday, August 1st, 1925: Mule Haas's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Detroit center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .386 with 6 doubles, no triples and 1 home run. Haas also scored 9 times and drove in 11 runs. So far in 1925 Haas is batting .273 with 2 home runs, 48 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 98 hits in 359 at-bats and a .346 OBP. Boston Reliever July's Best Pitcher Saturday, August 1st, 1925: Ray Kolp is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the National League Pitcher of the Month for July. He made no relief appearances for Boston last month, throwing 60.2 innings and collecting no saves, a 5-3 record, 12 strikeouts and a 2.23 ERA. This season Kolp has accumulated no saves, registered a 3.64 ERA and struck out 43 in 235 innings. He also has a 14-12 record in no relief appearances. |

We'll have another tiebreaker this year, this time, for the NL Wild Card. The schedule was goofy from last year's or else, I wouldn't have intentionally simmed past the last day of the regular season.

Feels like it's impossible to get out of this middle of the pack rut.
Congrats to the playoff teams!

That season went well. That may be my first FOOL 100-win season, but I'm not positive.

Is anyone having any luck with players on the reserve rosters developing? Two years in and I don't see a single point of change on any of my players there that I'm trying to develop.

Ok, looked through player development at least for my reserve roster. Looks like only players under 22-23 years old improved. Anyone over 23 didn't improve any (only declines) Only 2 seasons though so perhaps small sample size, but so far definitely not what I expected the reserve roster to do. Also I notice minor league free agency no longer is in effect with the reserve roster, so you can effectively horde a player on the reserve roster until their prime without any risk. |

Seems like reverting to old ways is the only way to go. Any way to fix these issues without doing that?

I'm not suggesting that just yet. I'm more trying to figure out what is happening. Markus has said that development for reserve rosters should still work. But right now I'm not seeing it. It might just be too small a sample size though. I'm more curious if others are experiencing the same thing though. Even the younger players (17 year olds and such) that I did find a little development for, it was very small, much less than what we used to get with the minors. So mostly I'm puzzled right now and wonder if this is an ootp bug. |

The game is supposed to alert me to the whole 25-man roster violation thing. I must've forgotten to change the rosters back after spring training. I dunno. Note to self: Watching Roger Federer and running the sim are incompatible.

Well that explains a lot. Since I didn't export (traveling...) I expected to have my roster a bit screwy, but since my entire ST roster was intact I still had my spring rotation and "getting some work in" lineups in place. That's worth a top 5 pick everytime!

Congrats I have a 2 year old daughter and the 2 years has flown by so fast. If this is your first child let me say, don't let the time fly to fast. My 2 year old started talking in full sentences a week or 2 ago and now I can't get a word in edge wise. We kept trying to get her to talk and now we try to get her to stop talking. The stop talking isn't working like the start talking did lol. Point of this story.... Your in for A LOT of fun.

I was playing MLB09 the show last night and carried a no-hitter into the top of the 9th, before blowing it. I have an entire team of old text sim players from online leagues I created and have all on one team. I don't like the Yanks, but I do like that their uniforms don't have names on the back, but that was only for some graphic design site I was goofing with that made jersey sigs and of course, theirs are the only ones without names on them.
But I think I'm going to head someplace else with the group next. Maybe someplace with not much of a history and no retired numbers because that might keep it interesting. Maybe the Colorado Rockies or the Texas Rangers. I mean, the Rangers should be more interesting a team than they are and they have been. What? You want me to sim the FOOL-H season and stop talking this nonsense? Ok. Here we go then. |

Rosters are set back to 25 man, so if anyone in the playoffs was over, the game wouldn't let play go on. But that's not the case.
Good luck. |

Oh and ShoelessJoe03 will be joining FOOL-H next season to take over the upstart Baltimore Orioles. He picked a good time to get on that squad, with two straight playoff appearances.
