Simple poll. I'm a sauce guy, myself.

People are rarely impressed when they see me order a pizza without cheese.

The crust is crucial.

Crust is definitely crucial (actually I prefer all of it to be in balance), but I find when the crust is done well that I appreciate the sauce so much more.

Has to be the sauce. I can deal with meh elsewhere, but if i hate the sauce it's game over.

Cheese. Less crust the better, I love Shakey's thin crust pizza. If I wanted foccacia bread, I would just order that

Cheese. I need that cheese dripping off when I pull up a slice.

Crust. Thin, thick, pan, or chicago style. The crust is the tipping point. Bad crust, the rest tastes pretty much the same. But the crust can taste different throughout.

The sauce is next. I love a good sauce. And a bad one can make things bad, but I can tear the crust off the back end and dip it in garlic butter and still be okay.

I hate to be that guy, but I really can't pick one thing. The best pizza has all at least at a good level, and a couple at a great level. Any of them can make or break a pizza.

For me, the pineapple needs to be in large chunks, not tidbits, and this is one situation where canned is superior to fresh.

I'm no longer a dairy farmer, but this is still the correct answer. Then going back and picking that fallen off cheese from the cardboard.

All of it. If any one part is bad it ruins the whole thing.

Shouldn't this poll be for people from New York and New Jersey? Where real pizza is made.

And yet many people think the best pizza is from Connecticut.

This is ban worthy. That does not go on a pizza.

Damn, three days ago I would've voted crust whole heartedly.

Then I had a cheese pizza with excellent cheese and mediocre crust.

YOu're tearing me apart LISA

I picked cheese because I know I get the most enjoyment from good cheese on the pizza.

But if cheese is 1A, crust is 1B. I'm a thin and crispy crust guy and having that type of crust significantly enhances my enjoyment of the pizza. Of course, I'm not turning down other types of pizzas because of the crust, so this only goes so far...

I'm torn between crust and toppings. Really well done pepperoni just has that right mix of crunch and flavor, but a thin, crackery crust well done is the bomb.

I thought the categories included pizza components, not crimes against humanity.

I love cheese. Probably my favorite food on the planet. But it's not the answer here because I've had some of the most amazing fresh mozzarella I could comprehend when I was in Italy, and yet even that on a pie with subpar sauce and crust wouldn't be better than the very strong pie I ordered from my favorite local place tonight.

As others have said, you really need all three. That's the beauty of it.

I have recently been cutting way back on dairy so I've either been doing no cheese or vegan cheese if it's available. So I picked crust whenever I voted on this. However, my girlfriend is gluten free so that means I'm gluten free when it comes to shareable food like pizza. So, ahem, sauce it is.
