Anyone use Bookswim?

In an effort to save money going out, we have signed up for Netflix. My wife, however, is a very avid reader and the only library within a 20 mile radius thinks that C.S. Lewis is a modern author. Does anyone use this service and could tell me something about it (like how quickly new releases are shipped out, turn around time on all books, etc)? Thanks!

I had never heard of it until I read your post. I just went over there and either I suck at searching or they suck at carrying books I like :shrug:

The plans look pretty expensive to me. I guess shipping and handling costs for a book are considerably more expensive than for a DVD, but I think the cost would essentially be a wash for me, at best. If I read 2-3 paperbacks a month, these days, that is a pretty prolific reading month for me. It looks like that would cost roughly $20/month on Bookswim, so I would tend to favor going to the local bookstore, as I enjoy shopping for books and want to own at least some of the books that I read/have read.

You basically pay for the shipping costs of the books you are trading.

I second PaperbackSwap. I've been using it for a couple years and it's basically where I get any books now, besides the library. I can't see paying for a buck when I can wait a bit and get it for the cost of mailing one. You can also convert hte credits to their CD and DVD swap sites.
