Seeger holds a special place in my heart and probably sparked my own interest in environmental issues. I grew up along the Hudson River during the majority of his time as an advocate for cleaning up the river. I rode on the Clearwater a couple times as a teenager when they had an educational program on it.

So thanks Pete for fighting for your river-I hope you sailed along it one last time before you went to heaven. Others will continue the fight because of you.

Well hey - I figured this board wouldn't be fertile ground...but at least one other person posted.

Going to miss him. Seen him in concert several times - once at the Newport Folk Festival (I want to say - I was really young at the time, but have vivid memories of a tent in a park right by the water, even though my parents deny it), and his music was a big part of my childhood, and even of my more hippie-ish college days.

Definitely hit me hard this morning on the drive in to work when I heard, had to choke back some tears.

I'm totally down a spotify musical rabbit-hole tonight as a result of this.

Delta blues (Mississippi John Hurt? Blind Lemon Jefferson...sure), Phil Ochs (Here's to the State of Mississippi ), etc.
