Thanks. Its nice to finally crack the post season. I didn't really have high hopes for this team either.

I am thinking not luck, Tasan. Martland has done this too much when it really counts. I have to seriously consider that Reinhart needs to be considered for the closer spot now with how Martland has just completely blown it in the big games.

I had Shaw at one point, but I got stupid in the negotiations and let him slip away. I kick myself a lot on that one, because he went right to Hartford the next day.

Looking at your signature Tasan, you are getting to be in as many online leagues as me. Don't burn yourself out!

Well, FLOP is dead for now, so I should take that one off. Its a shame, because I actually had a good team there.
I work from home and find myself with open gaps of time quite a bit, so I needed something to fill them. I just got back into FOF multiplay and the experience has been rough so far. I've been out of that loop for a bit too long I think. FOOL will always be my first love though. Its so much like single play with the pace, but with all the great, fun, and challenging human interaction!

I work from home too.. but find myself missing upload deadlines in at least one league every week these days. That was the main reason I left the DKBL.. I think I went 5 weeks without uploading. (woops) |

Alan, how is FBCB in multiplay, anyway? Strangely enough, although I'm not even close to a fan of college basketball, I deeply love that game. I've possibly logged more single play hours in it than any other sports sim ever, even totaling up all the FOF and OOTPs.

Man I don't know where the DKBL is going. I'm gonna be doing their web page, but the turnover there has been so high I'm not sure the league is gonna make it. Plus the pace is starting to get to me!

It is ok. I mainly play FBCB multiplayer because I like Radii and the league he runs is pretty fun. If you like recruiting, then you'd like multiplayer.. that is about 85% of the time spent in that league really. Out of all of my leagues, I probably enjoy my BBCF leagues the most.. I think OOTP becomes too much like a calculator for me, where I figure out a "winning formula" and then plug and play players to fit that formula. Usually with pretty decent success rate and it becomes a bit mundane. BBCF leagues tend to be enjoyable because that game really is built for multiplayer in my opinion.. and I'm not that good at the game, so it always is a challenge for me to even compete. |

New file is up! It is about 5 MB larger than normal I guess because of the various graphics to update and such.
Also please remember, 1987 (Next season) is when the league starts using a livelier baseball which should have the effect of increasing league-wide offense a bit: Quote:

I think I know where I screwed up this season. I still had my playoff strategies set for my pitchers. I bet my guys were getting pulled too quick and exposing my weaker pen.

A few pitching records were set this year. One was 353 Ks by "Slider" Sanu.

I SHOULD have kept Josh Robinson, but the weeks of angst over him have re-affirmed my previous multiplayer league policy of never looking back in regret over trades. Learn from ones that worked out lopsided, but I never get into the culdashuldawooda's. Last year's salary "mishap" devestated what my intended rotation for this year was and yet, Tasan came along with a nice offer for a contributing SP in exchange for Rice. I could get nuts over the fact that Rice is in the mix for MVP of the RL, but instead I'm just going to be content I finally pulled off a playoff appearance. In the same vein, I don't participate in the Hall of Fame stuff because I barely remember who I have on my team this year as I'm heading to setting up my export, never mind who was here 10 years ago or what minor leaguers I traded away. I just don't keep that stuff in the memory bank.

Also, as a ps, look at the frequency of trades made per franchise and I think you will notice a loose correlation between perceived success and trading activity. Atlanta, Hartford, Baltimore are all routinely involved in something. Colorado and I have been active lately. Toronto and Boston are both in down cycles right now but both are good owners. And Napa built her run on the backs of some serious trading if I recall correctly. I would suggest that the trade not made is often the one to hurt a team in the long run.

I've exported and won't be around much the rest of the weekend. Good luck to the other playoff teams. I expect ekc's squad will plow through me handily since they hit righties very well and I only have 2 competent left handed arms on my whole staff.

One last thought in this dialog with myself:
Jesus had an awesome year in AAA this year, skipping over AA. His arrival in FOOL is imminent. Tis the season, after all. (Jesus Pena, former first round pick. Who did YOU think I meant? )

hey guys, i'm gonna have to bow out. no need for complaining, but every year it's basically the same old same old. at some point i need to admit that maybe i don't have the necessary knowledge in this game that others have to make a team competitive. i'm just going through the motions, swimming in place. nothing i do pans out. this league doesn't take a lot of time, but whatever investment of time i do put in is not returning much success. this was at the most fun for me when i was debating all the time with everyone but apparently that causes too much disruption. all the debating makes me more passionate about my team, and with that gone i've kinda lost the desire to compete in this league. i wish you all the best. hopefully someone can take this franchise that has never gone to the playoffs to the promised land.

Thanks for playing Anthony! I thought you'd get it turned around, but I can also see how it could grind you out like that.

I knew I'd be screwed this year. I forgot about things, didn't have internet for a good part of it and frankly, have been too busy to pay attention closely enough. Congrats to New York for making it back to the promised land after all these years and tough luck on Napa...that just freaking sucks sooo much.
As for the RL teams, screw you all.

Hey everyone,
Been a very busy week with holidays and a final to study for. I am starting to make progress but it is very slow qand even though the players that I have a ML level look good on paper (hitters) they are not showing progress yet. I will have to take a closer look at what is going on or maybe it just takes a few years for players to get used to the ML level. Pitching is tough to develop especially when the last few drafts have been thin. I haver enough prospects to make a few trades now and should be more active. Hopefully we will be begin to move up a bit. Scott |

I am heading out to workout and grab a bite to eat, so I might not be back in time. If so, best of luck to all the teams in the playoffs, and may the best team win.
