Sunday, October 7th, 2040: Keith Tags Rebels for 6 Hits
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Mike Keith after his 6-hit performance against the Rebels. "No offense meant to Chico, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Ballpark of Colorado."

The Colorado left fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 6 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 7-6 victory.

His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Mike worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."

"That's what I'm trying to do," Keith said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

M. Keith hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off D. Palethorpe in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off W. MacGregor in the 11th.

For 2040 Keith is batting .296 with 23 home runs, 123 RBIs and 97 runs scored.

I can't hang in anymore, its pretty fun to go to bed with suspense over a .500 season and a still-implausible playoff spot. Congrats to those who do get to the post season.

Tuesday, October 9th, 2040: Garza Swings for the Cycle
Despite his best efforts, Pepillo Garza and Ann Arbor came out on the short end of the score today, dropping the game to Hartford 6-4. The 23-year-old right fielder piled up 4 hits in 5 at-bats and hit for the cycle, but still failed to top the Harpooners.

P. Garza hit a two-run home run off M. Rodríguez in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Garza currently has a .298 batting average with 174 hits, 33 homers, 100 RBIs, 117 runs scored and a .383 OBP.

Crap, I need to win this last one, and Hartford lose their last two to New York. Not liking the odds.

5th 3rd place or better finish in six seasons...and just one trip to the playoffs.

You all can do the math. Hammersmith is the home of crushed hopes and dreams.

And, of course, our Pyth rec absolutely blasts everyone elses...

Yeah, I hear ya. You see my post above. Definitely not funny. Some will say, damn, Chief, 4 3rd place finishes in 6 seasons, and 2nd in a 5th? Pretty good.

I say hogwash. It sucks getting so close and always ending outside of the dance.

Congratulations to all of the playoff teams. It was fun to watch and everyone kept it competative this year with all of the switching around and interaction. Sorry I bummed out in the final hour but odds are I'll do it again tonight. Either way, good luck and have fun!

Alot of East coast bias in the playoffs this season. Three of the four are Northeast teams too!

Congrats guys! I was rockin' out at a U2 concert last night and missed all this fun. Pretty amazing to me that we managed to hang in there for so long.
