I made a very strong bid on Craig Davis. But Chief's offer was for a year longer, so he got his guy back. It was competitive though. So oh well. Hope he likes the sweltering heat.

Right now, I am scheduled to have something like 35 million available for free agency next year. Everyone make sure to let your best FAs walk this season!

no biggy...more interested in the extensions, and they can be re-done if needed...not a whole lot of FA offers this season

So...should be an interesting year in the RL, no? There must be some other guys out there? Higman? That one outfielder from Long Island? I dunno who else.

Well in all honesty, Take some comfort that they shouldnt come back and bite you in the butt. I love the fact that he went out and got some big guns, but with all the little pieces out there, and the ones still out there, he might have been better off leaving those guys alone and go after the spects that could play now, save that big money for when he had the core to build around.

But im sure thats just my saltyness talking

Tomorrow is a work free day for me, so the Highlanders will be pulling behind the wall and making some major tinkering. I'll be around all day if anyone wants to hold palaver. I will NOT be around for the sim tomorrow night, taking my daughter to see Legally Blonde the musical in Providence (which is moderately thrilling for both of us since usually I take my son to all kinds of sporting events and she is left out, not being much a sports fan herself).

I think its a huge overpayment, however im gonna be interested in how his team fares. If this is the guy that put him over the top, it would have been clearly worth it.

But we know it was really about that man crush he has, right chief

Davis was one of the better SP available, and with such a premium placed on SP, I'm not suprised any team that is hurting for pitching makes a huge bid on one.

Man this emails really make me sad... I hope you can find someone who can help you fix them. They definitely take the fun away from Free agency period.

Heh...except when I have massive trade deals to do, you actually won't see me here early anymore during the offseason. Part of the problem for me before was that I was going home to do FOOL stuff instead of going to work out. I was getting fat and lazy (okay, more fat, more lazy). So when I came back I promised to myself I would stick to going to work out after work like I used to. But that means I get here after deadline. I usually do my stuff the night before now, if possible.

Incidentally, for anyone here who also plays Werewolf, this decision has also impacted my ability to play WW.

Way to upstage me, fairly. No one even noticed I signed Davis.

lol...okay, so someone did notice.

Yeah, I kinda figured if someone was going to guess where my money would go, it would be you.

Although I actually almost didn't make the offer. In the end, I didn't find any of the younger talent I was hoping to find to fill holes, so I ended up throwing the money at Davis after all.

Actually, my newly renovated stadium will be a little cooler now, with the wind running through it. He should be fine.

muns, check out my team when you get a chance. It's going to be in the mix this year in the CL, and will only get better. Last year was flukey and weird. I shouldn't have won the games I did. This year, the pitching is much better, the kids are a year older and improved, the lineup is deeper, and the park is more suited to my style of play. Davis will fit in perfectly.

BTW, thanks for giving me bulletin board material, too.

I'm going to guess it goes like this.

1. Send explorers to New World
2. Find docile, helpful natives.
3. Exploit docile, helpful natives.
4. Pillage and plunder docile, helpful natives.
5. Send riches back to Old World.

Rinse and repeat.

I didnt slap him in the face. Its all in fun. I said i was salty and gave even more of a reason why I said what I said later on in the thread.

I mean look at me. 17 seasons now. Not one playoff appearance, not even sure if i have a .500 record total. There is plenty to rip me apart on.

Only thing I can say that I might have done right is a few key trades, then again i have shit the bed on others. Our deal last year, and then the rasmussen trade with DC are the first 2 that pop into my head

Muns you're winning percentage is .498 and you're just 4 wins away from 1000 and a .500 record.

With Chief @ 945, seems that the 1000 win club for Managers will add two new members next year joining me, Alan and Cringer. Sadly the 1000 loss club is only inhabited by muns and I.
