I guess what I meant to say was, I had you beat in total dollars, but mine was over more time == less per year, but all of it was guaranteed. Kinda sucks but understandable

Heh heh. Teach YOU to underperform on your $6,000,000/yr contract.

Holy cow.

Good luck with that one. He should perform for several of those, but no way he does for all of them.

I committed myself to a 7-year deal with someone, but I haven't seen it come up yet.

whew, i landed one of the big pitchers. i needed that. he's pretty young, too. looks like he won't get a lot of strikeouts but he'll keep it in the park. suddenly the Violators aren't looking so innocent anymore. we really increased our depth and added a lot of big bats. me likes.

While watching real baseball and refreshing the drama of the FOOL offseason, I have been tidying up my computer desk area. I just had to start a second shoebox to contain all my jewel cases with game cd/dvds. A SECOND SHOEBOX. I have too many games (and the attention span of a fly in a cow pasture).

I hope he works out for ya. I don't trust the low stuff guys in this league...too many hitter friendly parks.

compared to what Chicago is paying Payton, SP Bruno is playing practically for free.

Thanks. I was hoping most for Martínez and Richard. Was thinking people might overlook Martínez, but with his 41 endurance he could be a killer middle relief man in addition to a closer.

Richards seems to go between good year and bad year, but I need an all-around outfielder who can get on base, and he fills that need. His stats are holding steady and he should hopefully be solid for my 2 gauranteed years.

I have high hopes for Jeff Thomas. Which means he likely won't pan out.

Middle relief? Take a page from Alan's book and put that man in the rotation. Anything less would be a waste.

No really, I'm serious.

Eh. With our current financials, most teams could buy out years 7 and 8 without blinking, and only have to think a little about 6, so it's not as huge a risk as it seems.

I really think we should fix this.

41s a little low ain't it? At least for us less-than-worthies who don't know how to funkify all the sliders and whatnot, and who haven't run shfiftyfive tests of every permutation.

We'll just say he'll probably be getting a few GS in spring training.

Man, I hear you. I play a game for a bit, get bored and then something new and shiny catches my attention and I have to play that.

Also, DC, have you considered setting up any of the Getch utilities for FOOL?

I tried seasons ago and ran into problems with them on my server. I haven't tried in a while, maybe I'm less stupid now and can do it.

That was gonna be my plan for him. I just didn't go anywhere near enough years. My per year was just about dead on.

Hee. Well, should you feel motivated to at some point and run into any technical difficulties, feel free to give me a shout. It's right up my expertise alley, like we discussed in the past.

Or I can just export the CSVs and let you try to do it. That might be a better idea even...

Hah. I'd give it a whirl, for sure. Assuming the rest of the league didn't mind. I'm not sure if there's any sensitive info in the CSVs used for Getch's stuff.

I'll take a stab at it once I get some time after I move, etc., and if I run into trouble, I'll let you know.

I swung and missed so much this offseason that I wound up overpaying for a guy that, while I think he fits my new stadium real good, will probably not live up to the paycheck. I suck at free agency.

I actually did that as a test to see if it matters at all. We had no real definitive evidence in this league and I'm trying to figure it out for the future of the financials situation. I've tested in test leagues, but..wanted to see it in the "real environement" Given that it seems no one seems to have made an offer on him, that test really wasn't effective.

I'm sure it's more evidence of my moral turpitude.

It at least looks really silly.

Ugh. Forum choking.

I don't think it's that big a deal, DC. It's not like there were a crapload of people flinging him money in the back half of this FA. Had you done it with someone in the 4-5 mil price range, it may have been different. A worthwhile experiment, at least.

And yes, it's funny as hell.

It's one of the rules we're working on, with the changes to the cash situation. We should have something by the end of the week. There will be time between when it's implemented, so it's not an overnight thing, but...there is progress being made and incentives over a certain amount is included in the latest proposal.
