I'll give ekcut a pony if his team lays down. I play Bal 7 times this month.

I thought he'd be a good owner for this league as active as I've seen him in DKBL, but maybe I was wrong.

Does he still seem to be around in the DKBL? Maybe you can ask him how he's feeling about the league, if he's just had some early issues getting acclimated?

We have scared away more than our fair share of owners with our pace.

Can't really say I am rolling to the playoffs here. Right now, only the lead I built up is helping me.

There needs to be an emoticon for biting your fingernails to the quick. I suspect both Chief and I are doing it.

Heh...who needs an emoticon when we have the real thing here?

At least I started winning again. Brooklyn was killing me with the one run wins.

Could you summarize the remainder of the games, Alan? I'm very interested in whether I finish second or third.

Thanks. I'll do what I can against that juggernaut. ekcut, got any tips? Go ahead and PM me.

I'm sure it's annoying to keep finishing in 2nd. gstelmack and Ann Arbor's owner didn't end up being up to it, but I know you are. And then you'll break throw, and we'll all be wondering what hit us.

Man, did I fall apart in my last few games.

And yeah, Chief. I have to say I can't complain too much about last year... eckut had it by a longshot. And I knew this year would be tough, as the entire top half of the division is strong. But coming up shy twice in a row is... well... a streak I hope not to extend next season!

I'm happy I've brought my team back into contention after screwing it up post-75. I'd just like to not be a bridesmaid.

Rio was a stronger 58-65 after its poor 8-23 start. Sure, still no great shakes, but it's something for Cringer to build on there.

Nice to see Colorado finish strong. Way to go Tasan.

Four very strong teams in the CL. Hopefully I just went through a gauntlet there, and have come out tested and ready to battle.

Now I'm really pissed about my April and May. If we'd have played as good in those months as we did in June - September........

yeah, we'd have finished like 3 games out then.......did I mention I hate Hartford?

That said, I'm coming out from under about $20 million in contracts next year, and gaining another 5 mil in one big rate reduction. I hope to make some definitive signings in free agency to make up for not having room to do anything for '80.

Heh...really, this league is insanely tough. I knew I had made some good decisions, but the other three teams at the top here all have some great talent, and has proven it consistently. And Commo is a proven owner who made some great moves in Brooklyn, too. Really top to bottom, a lot of good owners in the CL. Me getting back to the top was no sure thing, and even if I make the most of this, next year, I am right back in it, trying to beat out these same tough owners to get back.

Oddly enough...so was I. Last year pissed me off. That was supposed to be a very good team. My offense just took a huge, gigantic crap on the season. Not hard to do, of course, in the most ridiculously pitcher-heavy league single season in the human owner era of FOOL.

That season's disappointment actually fueled me into bringing Davis back, and overspending for Marnane, Poole and Moya. But my kids are starting to hit arbitration and reach their contract years, so the shelf life on this team isn't so high.

Ok, packing up the file. Made financial modifications, but not much will look different for this file. It should look different going into next year however when all that spare cash is no longer there.

Oh yeah, one other thing on last year. Last year, I had expectations and stunk it up. This year, I was completely down and expecting the worst because of last year--so, of course, I win. Weird.

That was pretty much how last season went as well. Not sure why I have such a horrible start every season now.

The Roadrunners are looking into a new equipment supplier for future seasons, we are no longer happy with the company who has been supplying our bats/gloves/balls since 1969, ACME.

Tanaka is the man, the only thing this team has going for it after we made two crap trades two years running and have little talent to speak of. Then again Tanaka's ratings dropped off and he was 40 before the season started.

I have been trying to get a catcher of the future for 6 years now and nothing, I hope Tanaka keeps playing.

I doubt this will make you feel any better, but this is a particularly difficult position for me to fill, too.

Getting Berru in FA 4-5 years ago from HAR's overloaded minor league system was a short term God send, as he outperformed his ratings. But I always wanted to get better there. The next year, I signed vet Cris Segura and spoke with muns about trading for Devin Johnson (didn't end up doing it). Then I bought out Segura's option and looked around for other catchers. Pretty much struck out on everyone, and didn't have the cap space to get Moya before he signed a one year deal with someone else. So I signed Luter Palmer on the sim day and made space for him. Turns out he completely blew. So this year I put up big money for Moya to finally fill this spot in the short term.

I still don't have a real long time option I am confident in. My best catching prospect in years, Tucker Powers, I moved to New York as part of the Jeff Williams deal. So I still don't have a clue what I will do when Moya's contract is done (which could be this season if I buy out his option).
