Anyone else notice something distinctly missing from this list? Hartford players?

I would also root for Rio Grande if I were in 1st. I am not, though, so I cannot. Go Crackers!

And P.S. What a crummy month ATL had.

Way to go, Colorado!

Wish I knew what was going on with the ATL. We aren't as solid as we were, but under .500? Plus, I filled my last true major hole on Opening Day. So this is very disappointing. Several players must be completely sucking.

I really don't know where this is coming from guys. I didn't think we had the starting pitching yet to do this. The lineup did look promissing though as I was filling it out. Maybe the hitters are carrying us.

I knew we'd have a hard climb, but I didn't account for 1) Colorado's talent catching it this year and so..we'll see. I was banking on a 3-team race, but knew it'd be a REALLY hard climb to get out of that 3rd position. Still sometime left, but...I dunno. We'll need help and not to shoot ourselves in the foot. Both relying on some major...luck.

Which I hate.

I looked at your team a few days ago and was pretty worried. You did good work putting that team together for this particular moment.

I still have 2 stud pitchers and my stud but underdeveloped SS in AAA right now, so I feel real good about next season, even if I am real nervous about the rest of this one.

Well, got back above .500 and halved the lead Rio had on us in second place. But we're still in 5th and behind three teams for that playoff spot. I really hope my team decides to show up now.

Meanwhile, the question of whether Rio Grande's playoff drought will be over soon, is a big mystery over here. 1968 seems like FOREVER ago.

I'm very interested in how SP Enrique Guerrero is doing. He's only got a 30 stuff, but his movement is 95 and control 80. I'm guessing I picked right, because without success from that last spot in the rotation, I don't think we'd be doing this hot.

I went with a 4-man rotation. Calculated risk, but I didn't want to go with a weak #5 and regret it. But maybe I overworked those front 4.

I'm pulling for Cringer. I'm just getting to wrapped up in my own success to get around to typing it!

Thats going to be a serious consideration for me next season. I'm just not sure I'm sold on that method yet.

I've won doing it in the past. I think I did it successfully in '74 with the T-Storms, but I only do it when I'm too weak to do anything else. It's not something I think it's particularly fun to do, because the high risk/high reward factor usually makes it such that I'd rather just throw someone moderately competent in the #5 and hope for the best.

I have done it for three years now to pretty good success, and muns has been doing it for most, if not all, of his run. It can be done if you have the right starters, and you don't ignore your pen.

For the first time since before I can remember that none of the races have been decided by September 1st.

At one point or another, 4 different teams held the lead for the Continental Cup during the month of August.

Baltimore's magic number: 2
Colorado's magic number: 8
Hartford's magic number: 8
Atlanta's magic number: 9

You know what will probably happen? I'll win the dang RL outright, but Hartford will kick my tail in the playoffs. Just watch.

Yikes! Thats a lot closer than I had hoped. August wasn't a complete loss, but 15-14 hurts in a tight race like this. Lets hope that stops.

If Hartford makes it, San Diego is charging.
