Montreal has a magic number of 21 to clinch the Continental League Regular Season Championship. To make it to the playoffs, their magic number is uhh... 12 (doing the math in my head)

Sunday, August 4th, 2019: Reyes Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle
"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Orlando Reyes said with a smile to reporters after today's game. "It would do wonders for my batting average." Reyes had every right to be in a good mood after hitting for the cycle today against New York at Rebels Ballpark. The Rebels won the ballgame 12-11, he hit for the cycle, had a 5-for-5 game and boosted his batting average up a few points. The 25-year-old Chico shortstop chalked up 4 runs batted in and 4 runs scored for the game, too.

Who says you can't have it all?

He told the press that a triple is the tough hit to get in a cycle. "As soon as it left the bat, guys jumped off the bench and were rooting hard for me to have enough gas to get there," Reyes said. "It was hard to enjoy it... I was breathing too hard... you got to really be in shape to run out a triple."

O. Reyes doubled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th, was hit by a pitch in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off J. Rosales in the 11th.

This season Reyes has hit at a .265 clip with 62 RBIs, 9 home runs and 53 runs scored. He has played in 114 games.

I am trying to think off the top of my head, I've been in OOTP online leagues for close to 9 years now. I think this might be the biggest margin that I have ever seen a team win a division by.

That said, knowing OOTP, expect a first round sweep loss to whoever Montreal faces in the playoffs.

He's not 27 years old or anything, but a very impressive career mark for Yi:

Saturday, August 10th, 2019: Yi Reaches 2000 Milestone
Hyeong-ro Yi was bubbling over with joy, celebrating his 2000th hit in the New York 18-5 victory over the Harpooners at New York Grounds.

"I learned what hard work, focus, dedication and opportunity can do. This is how it pays off."

The 35-year-old right fielder achieved that milestone with 3 hits in 6 at-bats to join the exclusive 2000-hit club.

His manager said, "Hyeong-ro plays the same every day and every inning - with all his heart - that's why he's such a special player."

In his career Yi has played in 1416 games, totaling 2001 hits, 222 doubles, 12 triples and 328 homers. He has hit .350 with 1104 RBIs and scored 999 times.

Thanks! I can't imagine that we'll stay there with the pitching the way I left it this year but I'll take all the props I can get nowadays.

To the rest of you: It is nice to see so many people back and watching the action. I think that Alan made a great choice with this one (as long as it's not messing with his life schedule too bad).

Speaking of life schedules, I know that the rest of you have done an amazing job writing previews and tracking down stats and it has been awesome to read. I hope to be back to my usual level of participation soon but events in my life have dictated that I be everywhere but here (mostly because of a new and rather unpleasant job search). I miss this though!

Two members of Ann Arbor's great teams earlier this decade both reach important career marks this month as well:

Sunday, August 11th, 2019: 300 Home Runs for Souza
The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Jesús Souza was delighted, too -- the 30-year-old Winged Lingerines left fielder was making history with his 300th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Souza stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call.

"Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 300 in a 9-3 victory over Hartford. Souza went 1-4 in the game, had 1 run batted in and scored 1 run.

His career numbers show Souza has batted .269 and collected 1526 hits, 300 home runs and 989 RBIs.

Monday, August 26th, 2019: 2000 Hits for McCain
The Ann Arbor 5-2 loss to Chico wasn't all bad. Something good came out it, at least for Nick McCain. As a consolation prize he got the 2000th hit of his career. The veteran Winged Lingerines first baseman went 2-for-3 in the game and added his name to the coveted 2000-hit club. He was given a five-minute ovation by the crowd, which included his wife and family and quite a few former Winged Lingerines teammates.

"I could have scripted it better," McCain commented to the press after the game, "a win would have made it a lot more enjoyable. But what the hey... hit #2000 ain't so bad."

Over his 1431-game career McCain has compiled a .354 batting average and collected 2000 hits, 171 home runs and 917 RBIs.

It was only a matter of time till this guy found his control... the August RL pitcher of the month:

Sunday, September 1st, 2019: Best Starter Chosen by Republic League
Juan Sierra hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Republic League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In August the New York starter earned a 6-0 mark in 7 starts. He threw 49 innings, struck out 63 and compiled a solid 1.84 ERA.

In the 2019 season Sierra has recorded a 20-6 mark. In 35 starts he has fanned 251 batters in 244.2 innings with a 2.61 ERA.

The Continental League Pitcher of the month...

Sunday, September 1st, 2019: Quero CL's #1 Pitcher in August
In August when the Montreal manager wrote the name "Quero" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Emmett Quero took the hill, took charge and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 2.02 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Majestics star pitched 49 innings, fanned 45 and held opposing teams to a .216 average.

For his outstanding mound performance Quero was named the CL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

Quero has posted a 24-3 record in 2019 with a 2.02 ERA. Teams are hitting .216 against him and he has rung up 257 strikeouts in 245.1 innings.

Lol, even people online know I like to talk too much. Maybe I should start listening to the people in my life who've had to endure it for so long.

Thanks for the luck! The good news is that I'm getting lots of interviews. The bad news is the circumstances behind the fact that I had to start looking for a job...mainly the face that adults exist who haven't learned how to stop gossiping and being catty and grow the (f) up.

Just a follow up on Castel's 53 Home RUns so far through August, he didn't actually break it yet.. but he tied it and should soon break it unless he turns into David Ortiz..

The next 5 most HR in a season are:

1) G. Castel (2019) , D. Gil (2011), K. Bates (2011) - 53
4) C. Tapian (2014) - 49
5) F. Aguilera (1997) - 48

Wednesday, May 8th, 2019: Yamasaki Fashions Shutout Against Apex
Yoritomo Yamasaki of the Napa Valley Winemakers worked his mound magic on the Apex Assassins. He blanked them 2-0 on 1 hit, registering 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"Making good pitches is the name of the game and I made some good ones in this one," said Yamasaki after the game.

His record this season is 4-2 in 8 starts and Yamasaki has a 2.28 ERA.

Thrilled to see that my ONE good starter is doing his job.

Wow, you didn't give the rest of us much of a chance this season, sir. And you provided fine insight as well. As good hearted as I try to be, I think it can get me in trouble being naive to the "life shattering" effects of trusting people.

(This is like therapy! It is a wonder I didn't come back sooner.)
