Saturday, June 29th, 2041: Homer #300 for Edmonton's Prebble
He has done it!
Brian Prebble has reached the 300 home run mark. He did it today, but the Edmonton Edge still dropped the game to the Tokyo Cyclones by the score of 6-5.

"#300 was hard to come by. I think the pressure was getting to me a little bit. I got a calls a few days ago from a couple of guys that have been through this and they just said, 'Keep going, have some fun. Just be you.' I think that helped me a little bit having those guys make a call to me and try to settle some of the nerves down."

On his historic day Prebble was 2-3 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored.

Checking out his career figures, Prebble has played in 2024 games with a .295 batting average. Among his 2128 hits are 300 home runs. He also has scored 1346 runs, stolen 146 bases and driven in 1246 runs.

Monday, July 1st, 2041: Hammersmith Starter June's Best Pitcher
Last month was a very good one for Manuel Sánchez of Hammersmith. So good that he has been picked as the Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League.

Sánchez throttled league hitters the entire month, completing June with an impressive 4-0 mark and a 1.67 ERA in 5 starts with 39 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.

In 15 starts this year Sánchez has fashioned a 9-2 record and a 2.91 ERA.

Veteran Júlio Flores put together quite a successful stretch in June for the Napa Valley Winemakers, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Flores racked up a 4-2 record in 7 starts, posting a 1.61 ERA over 50.1 innings and striking out 55.

In the 2041 season Flores has recorded a 6-8 mark. In 20 starts he has fanned 102 batters in 107.1 innings with a 4.61 ERA.

Monday, July 1st, 2041: CL's Top Hitter Named
Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Michael Kelly can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 35-year-old second baseman for Napa Valley was named the Continental League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In June he batted .340 with 6 home runs, 31 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

So far this season Kelly is hitting .259 with 12 home runs.

Monday, July 1st, 2041: Martínez Receives June Rookie Award
A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Augusto Martínez just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June.

Over the past month the 22-year-old first baseman for Hartford hit .388 with 31 hits, 4 home runs and 13 RBI. He also logged 13 walks and compiled a .474 on-base percentage.

This year Martínez is hitting .345 with 11 home runs.

Monday, July 1st, 2041: June's Outstanding CL Rookie Announced
Richie Hankins was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old center fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 24 games Hankins batted .276 for Tokyo, slapping 27 hits in 98 at-bats with 1 home run, drove in 11 runs and scored 15 times.

This year Hankins is batting .275 with 9 home runs and 31 RBIs.

Monday, July 1st, 2041: 2500th Hit for Chen
The box score from yesterday's game will show that Newark beat the Tokyo Cyclones, 5-4. It will also show that left fielder Hou Chen went 1-for-5 for the Terriers. It will not show, however, that Chen reached the 2500-hit mark for his career.

The 35-year-old Chen reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit."

As far as career numbers Chen has compiled a .321 batting average and collected 2500 hits, 367 home runs and 1403 RBIs.

Along the same subject, has anyone here ever gone through a player's career stats vs another pitcher? For instance Xavier Jiminez is indeed fairly old and has played for quite some time. His rookie season was 14 years ago in 2027. Did you know he had a .364 career batting average in 22 at bats against a pitcher that was part of the 2011 dispersal draft 30 seasons ago?

Trivia question, can anyone name who that pitcher was?

Tuesday, July 16th, 2041: Córdova Belts 3 HRs
Today was a special one for Jorge Córdova of the Hartford Harpooners as he slammed three home runs in the 11-0 win over the Colorado Rancheros.

"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game... I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."

The Hartford first baseman had quite a game at Harpooners Ballpark as he collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 8 and scored 3 runs.

J. Córdova hit a two-run home run off G. Ge in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off G. Ge in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off J. Trevino in the 9th.

Looking at his stats this year, Córdova has compiled a .298 batting average, while hitting 19 home runs and driving in 60 runs. He has played in 88 games and scored 60 runs.

Lemieux becomes the 10th pitcher in FOOL history with 300 wins! Before the season is over, he could jump up to 8th all time!

Thursday, July 18th, 2041: Lemieux Beats Edge for 300th Win
Terriers ace Renaud Lemieux reeled in his 300th career victory by beating the Edmonton Edge 6-1 at Zion Stadium. In his historic win, he notched 7 strikeouts in 7 innings, yielded 1 run and 7 hits, while surrendering 2 walks.

"I tried to focus on each batter," said Lemieux after the game, "but as the game goes by, I couldn't help but think about the possibility. 300 is a big number. It's a pretty exclusive club and I'm honored to be a member."

In his career Lemieux has amassed 300 wins and 134 losses with an ERA of 2.62 and 3305 strikeouts.

Good luck to Hyannis in the 2nd half. Go get 'em in the RL.

As for Newark, we'll just see what happens.

Thanks DC. I fear June may have been a harbinger of things to come, I am notorious for tailing off and I don't think this pitching staff can continue to do what it did in April and May. I think I should have fiddled my strategies for quicker hooks.

Monday, July 29th, 2041: LaRocque Powers 3 HR Against Hyannis
Fans from Ann Arbor are still buzzing after Ann Arbor whipped the Patriots 14-6 today at Ann Arbor Grounds. Christophe LaRocque smashed three home runs in the game. This is a feat that few players ever achieve and few fans ever see.

In a tremendous performance the catcher bashed out 3 hits in 3 at-bats, had 7 RBIs and scored 4 times.

At the postgame press conference, he was asked what it felt like to hit three home runs in one game. LaRocque answered, "To get one homer is special... two is great... three is just unbelievable!"

C. LaRocque hit a three-run home run off B. Morán in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off B. Morán in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off T. Murphy in the 6th and was hit by a pitch in the 7th.

Batting .308 to date, LaRocque has 22 home runs and 71 RBIs.

I like Cordova's nickname "Scarface"

I wish I could edit pictures to put a scar on his face to go with the nickname
