Tuesday, September 23rd, 2042: Ge Pitches Gem against Chico
Colorado starter Guo-dong Ge really did a number on the Rebels today, shutting them out 16-0 on 2 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 5 walks and had 4 strikeouts.

In his postgame comments, the Chico manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Guo-dong... he did an outstanding job today."

In 2042 thus far, Ge has tossed 162.2 innings in 29 starts, fanned 117 batters, walked 88 and put up a 5.42 ERA with 10 wins and 11 losses.

Thursday, September 25th, 2042: Ann Arbor's Medina Reaches 2000 Hits
It took quite a few years to do it, but Eduardo Medina finally did it. The Winged Lingerines right fielder swatted hit #2000 this afternoon at Ann Arbor Grounds, but still came up short in the victory column. The Hammersmith Hooligans came away with a 7-3 win over Ann Arbor. Medina was 1-for-4 in the loss.

Lifetime Medina has hit .298 with 2000 hits, 136 home runs, 762 RBIs and scored 1198 runs.

24th player in FOOL history with 400 Home Runs!

Sunday, September 28th, 2042: Chen Raps 400th Roundtripper
There was a big sigh of relief by Hou Chen after he hit his 400th career homer. The Newark left fielder told BNN, "Whew. I'm glad it's over... now I can go back to just playing baseball."

It was quite a day for Chen. He got his name in the league record books, 1 hit, 1 RBI, scored 2 runs and his team, the Newark Terriers beat the Boston Settlers 5-4.

Chen knew it when he hit it. He raised his hands in the air, then ran the bases like a high school player clapping and grinning.

He told reporters in the post-game interview, "I was acting goofy running the bases... but it was my 400th home run."

"It was great," his manager said. "He stood there and watched it... we all did. You just felt it was coming... you just had a sense he would hit it soon... he has been having a lot of good at-bats. It was great to get it out of the way."

During his career Chen is hitting .318 with a total of 400 home runs.

Tuesday, September 30th, 2042: Assassins Taylor Has 16 Ks
Drew Taylor of the Apex Assassins was something to behold at Assasins Ballpark. He was on fire and fanned 16 Winemakers en route to a 1-0 victory. Taylor shackled Napa Valley on 2 hits and gave up 2 walks in an outstanding performance.

"That's as good as I've ever seen him throw," his manager said. "I've never seen so many bad swings in my life. These guys didn't have a chance."

Taylor had very little to say to after the game. "We won and that's the bottom line. I had a good game. And we beat Napa Valley."

The Napa Valley manager wasn't too happy with the game. "He pitched a very good game. You have to tip your cap to him."

This season Taylor has a 11-12 record with a 5.18 ERA in 31 starts.

Wednesday, October 1st, 2042: September's Top Starter Named in RL
When Richard Wichers takes the hill, chances are good for a Ann Arbor victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-0 mark and 2.56 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 45.2 innings, fanned 28 and held others clubs to a .213 average.

That's why the Winged Lingerines star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.

To date this season Wichers is 15-10 with 38 starts and an ERA of 5.23 with 159 strikeouts in 247.2 innings.

Wednesday, October 1st, 2042: MacIan Top Hitter in CL in September
There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Callum MacIan helped his contract negotiations by nabbing September's Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

The Napa Valley right fielder put together a .381 batting average with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if MacIan continues at this brisk pace.

So far in 2042 MacIan has hit .260 with 21 home runs and 85 RBIs. He has played in 153 games and scored 83 times.

Friday, October 3rd, 2042: Hyannis Stops Ledrew's Hit Streak
The Rancheros lost to Hyannis today by the score of 12-6 at Ballpark of Colorado, but the bigger story was the end of a hit streak. Colorado first baseman Justin Ledrew was working on a 30-game hitting streak, but went 0-for-3 against the Patriots as the hot stretch came to an end.

So far this year in 154 games Ledrew is hitting .297 with 23 home runs, 119 RBIs and 105 runs scored.

As Chief mentioned earlier, the first no-hitter in 3 seasons!

Monday, October 6th, 2042: Smith Brilliant -- Fires No-Hitter
Boston is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by Robbie Smith against the Napa Valley Winemakers. In a dominating 8-0 performance at Ballpark of Boston, the 31-year-old hurler had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks. Not one batter managed a hit.

The Napa Valley manager said after the game, "You could tell early on it was going to be a long day for us. He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."

"Yeah, this was a special day for me," said Smith. "I had my good stuff and good movement... good location, too. Even when I was off and made a mistake, I got away with it today."

Looking at his season stats, Smith has won 7 and lost 16, collecting 136 strikeouts and 94 walks in 165.2 innings with a 4.62 ERA.

Too bad we can't send in rotation adjustment instructions for the last series designed to keep our top guys from pitching.

We have a batter miss out on the triple crown by .002 batting average.

I don't think I'll ever completely understand this game. I thought we'd make a serious push, but I never saw 100+ wins in this team.

5 Man, highest rested. Makes better sense to me with the holes in the schedule. Plus, I am organizationally much deeper in starting pitching now. Technically, I had a 6th SP taking the ball from my 5th starter every 5 starts (as well as throwing long relief).

And you killed me record-wise. And yet, off of Pyth, I am 11 games up on you. That's just nutty.

We have some serious records fall this season...

Gael Pichette breaks the 45 year old record of former Colorado Ranchero Felipe Aguilera as he hits a 1.190 OPS this season, the best ever in FOOL history.

Both Okamoto and Pichette break Frank Dawson's 2035 record for highest VORP in a season. Pichette sets the new record with 139.51, Okamoto comes in second with a 130.38. Dawson's old record was 121.50

Ricardo Salazar for Chico also somehow started 61 games this season and set a few records that he'll likely want to forget. I guess I didn't catch that rotation issue otherwise I would have fixed it some.

All right, I am way past time for needing to go work out.
