NHL:EHM 2005 Interactive Dynasty: Your Hockey Career
So here's another Interactive Dynasty; this time in NHL:EHM 2005. I will take new players until Sunday October 23rd 2005 at 13:00ET and will then start your guys' careers and see who can make it to the NHL or even to the Hockey Hall of Fame. I have strict rules though as to what players I'm going to take; I will only take realist players.
Here's the info I need: Name: Need to be a real name please so if you don't want to use your real name invent one or just tell me to chose it for you (I have a name generator for most hockey nations). Birth City and Nationality: Will determine what league you play for as well as your age. Favourite Number: Like in the real hockey world, needs to be between 1 and 98. If you don't care I'll just pick one for you. Size: You'll start your career between 14 and 16 years old; so I'll let you the choice between "Very Small", "Small", "Average", "Big" and "Huge". Your initial size will vary through your youth in the game. Position and Shoot/Glove side: You can chose one position to start the game and another one that you might learn during your career. For realism, a goaltender can only have one position, a defenseman won't be able to play forward (even if some do) and forwards won't be able to play defence. Please chose your shoot/glove side too. Player Comparaison/Style/Player Strenght and Weaknesses: You can either compare your player to a real NHLer, give me his style or give me his strenghts and weaknesses Finally, note that, as I said earlier, your player will start the game between 14 and 16 years old. You will all have a randomly picked potential so you might have a career as bad as "Fringe CHLer" to as good as "Hall-of-Famer". EDIT: I am posting this dynasty on another board too so when I'm going to update, there might be some names that aren't here. Last edited by duff88 : 10-21-2005 at 01:34 PM. |

I know it may sound annoying but as I said, for realism, I'd prefer everyone to have a normal name; and I haven't ever met anyone who's name is Sachmo Seventyone. I won't ask for much; but realism is something I want to see and that's why I'd ask you to change your name before the deadline (metionned in my first post) or I'll pick a new name for your player. |

This is going unexpectedly popular; there are already 51 (I just finished entering everyone who has suscribed to the database) new players with a little less than 20 hours to go.
You guys need to know that your player might not be the next Wayne Gretzky; some of these guys might not even make it to the AHL so don't be too frustrated if your guy's not a superstar. |

I'm from Spain but as we don't have hockey here i have chosen to be a latin kid from Miami.
Name: Ivan Carrillo Birth City/Nat: Miami, FL (USA) Number: 77 Size: Huge Position: Defender, shoots left Player comparision: I don't know which player to tell you but i want to be a huge sized, physical athlete, agressive and heavy hitter defender, who gets easilly on fights. The ones who let pass the puck or the man but never both. Also i would like to have a really powerfull left shoot that make goalies hidde when i shoot, but not so technical or fast in exchange. Let's say how well a guy like this can do Last edited by Icy : 10-22-2005 at 06:17 PM. |

If you want I can make your player Spanish but make him play in USA. Or I can also make him a Spanish/American (Born somewhere in Spain but currently living in the US). Or if you prefer him to be from Miami it can stay the same. |

I might be a bit ahead of schedule right now, but with all the suscripition I've had so far (Which is a lot more than I expected), I'll just stop taking any now and start the game. Sorry for those who would have wanted to suscribe in the next hour and six minutes before the deadline.
The first update should be posted either today or tommorow. |

Dennis Adkins Jr.
The fourteen years old 5'8/147 right handed center will play for the New Jersey Midget Devils of the US U16 league this year. The small center is expected to notch around 80 points this season with New Jersey before pursuing his path through US College hockey and hoping to one day get drafted in the NHL. Adkins might never become a superstar in the NHL, but his playing style, similar to the Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Jeff O'Neill, might one day make him an NHLer. He’ll be eligible for the 2009 NHL entry draft. Dylan Airhart Currently playing at the well-known school of hockey Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Airhart is a diminutive 5’6/132 right winger. This quick skater, compared by many to Donald Audette in his great years, should try to develop his skills in US College before becoming eligible for the NHL entry draft in 2008. He is expected to notch around 40 points this year playing on the third line with Tom Duggan and Kelsey Tessier. Vikke Allvin Thirteen years old Swedish Vikke Allvin moved to Canada at the young age of 10 years old. The young right winger, currently at 5’7/149, is going to play for the Nanaimo Bantam Clippers who should be among the top Bantam teams in the country; he is expected to get around 70 points for the team. Even though he is pretty young, people already say that he is a future NHL player who could be a first round pick when he becomes eligible in 2010. He should be drafted in 2006 in the WHL. Maxim-Alexandre Arseneault The 5’8/145 fifteen year old left winger, who currently plays for the Seminaire St. François Blizzard of the Quebec Midget AAA League, is an offensive player who plays a similar style to Petr Cajanek of the St. Louis Blues. Arseneault definitely has some talent and could one day make it to the NHL, but he’ll need to perform at every level until then; he’s expected to score around 60 points for the Blizzard this year. Arseneault is eligble for the draft in 2006 for the QMJHL and in 2008 for the NHL. Anthony Banks The 5’9/149 fifteen years old center, who is often compared to Pierre Turgeon, plays for Shattuck-St. Mary’s and is expected to get around 50 points on the team’s first line. Banks is already talked about as a potential top 3 pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Scott Beckwith This 6’0/167 American power forward is currently playing for the strong Seattle Sno-Kings team of the PCAHA. The fourteen year old forward, who will become eligible for the NHL entry draft in 2010, is expected to pursue his career in US College but right now, he is expected to get around 50 points for the Sno-Kings. Chris Berg This German 6’0/169 goaltender, who becomes eligible for the NHL Draft in 2007, is expected to have a great year as goaltender for the Hamburg Freezers Junior Team. At currently 16 years old, scouts are worrying about the lack of development the goaltender as had so far, and his complete lack of interest at pursuing his career in the Canadian or American Junior ranks is expected to hurt him in the long run. Félix Bouchard This fourteen years old Left Winger who currently plays for the College Charles-Lemoyne in the Quebec Midget AAA League has a lot of talent and is often compared to Ladislav Nagy of the Phoenix Coyotes, but his future in hockey is less than certain as his small 5’3/145 stature could hurt him in the future. Although his dream has always been to play in the QMJHL, he is currently aiming at playing college hockey as this might be the best road for a player like him, a bit in the same way it was for Martin St. Louis. Bouchard will be eligible for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Dave Brown Jr. This fifteen years old right winger currently playing for the Philadelphia Junior Flyers in the US U16 league is a real monster on skates: He is already 6’4/183 and he’s probably stronger than anyone twice his age. A real fighter à la Scott Parker, he is also very good defensively. He’ll be eligble for the 2008 NHL Entry draft, but will he make it to the NHL through professional or will a team take a chance on this average skilled enforcer? Right now, the American forward wants to play Major Junior hockey where he’ll have the best chances to showcase his fighting skills and he will be available for the 2006 OHL entry draft. Ivan Carrillo This is a fifteen year old huge defensive specimen from Miami, Florida, who currently plays for the South Florida Golden Wolves of the US U16 League. Excellent defensively, he is a strong 6’4/191 defenseman who isn’t afraid to drop the gloves. He is eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry draft. Brett Clifton The fourteen years old 5’9/147 defenseman from Canada is getting a lot of praise lately for his great two-way game and his potential to become an excellent NHL defenseman. Currently eligible for the 2006 WHL draft, he will likely be a first round pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft. He is expected to get around a point per game this year with the Lethbridge Golden Hawks of the Alberta Bantam AAA League. Mathieu Cloutier The 5’7/136 fifteen year old left winger from Trois-Rivière is expected to get a lot of points this year for Cap-de-la-Madeleine in the Quebec Midget AAA League. Cloutier is eligible for the 2006 QMJHL Draft and the 2008 NHL Entry Draft where he could very well be a 1st round pick. Dallas Corbin A fifteen years old 5’10/167 center playing for Long Island in the US U16 league, Corbin will need a lot of hard work if he one day wants to be an NHLer right now; he is a one-dimensional player and he isn’t good enough in that dimension to one day hope to make a career out of it. Currently hoping to play in the NCAA, he is eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Ben Davidson A fourteen years old 5’6/127 goaltender from BC, he currently plays for Salmon Arm of the BCIBL. He should be drafted by a WHL team in 2006 before becoming eligible for the 2009 NHL entry draft. Ivan Drago The Czech Ivan Drago is already popular around the hockey world; the huge Czech defenseman, who was named Ivan after his father Milan Drago saw the movie Rocky IV, is a bone-crushing 6’4/196 enforcer who plays for the Sparta Praha Jrs in Czech Republic. Drago will become eligible for the NHL entry draft in 2008. Travis Elkin Even if this 6’0/176 defenseman playing for the Sherwood Park Flyers of the Alberta Bantam AAA League is still only fourteen years old, scouts all over the world say that he’s going to be a bigger and better version of Adam Foote. Elkin is eligible for the 2006 WHL Draft and then for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Dan Ertmann The 5’10/167 fifteen years old right winger, who currently plays for the Chicago Mission in the US U16 league, plays a lot like the Calgary Flames’ Chris Clark and will become eligible for the NHL Entry draft in 2008. Ertmann is expected to play College hockey through his junior career. Matt Gamble Gamble, who currently plays for the New Jersey Midget Devils of the US U16 League, is a real leader who is made to captain hockey teams. The 6’0/167 fourteen years old center is eligible for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Christoph Gaspari Although he may be a bit small, the 5’5/145 fifteen years old left winger, who currently plays for Shattuck St. Mary’s, is a coach’s dream: He’s a character player, a player you love to have on your team but hate to play against. He’s good defensively and isn’t afraid to hit anyone which draws him comparisons to Tyson Nash. Gaspari, who wants to play in the NCAA, will be eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry draft. Phillip Guay The fourteen years old 5’7/163 left winger who plays for the Lethbridge Golden Hawks is a strong player with excellent two-way game and against whom anyone hates to play. He’s eligible for the 2006 WHL Entry draft and the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Michael Hancock The fifteen years old British/Russian who currently plays for Avangard Omsk 2 is a fast-skating 5’8/145 left winger who will become eligible for the NHL Entry Draft in 2008. Cecil Hendrix This 5’6/134 fourteen year old right winger who plays for the Sudbury Nickel Capitals of the Great Northern Midget League is often compared to Dallas Drake and will be eligible for the 2006 OHL Draft and the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Andrew James The thirteen years old 5’4/130 center who currently plays for Grande-Prairie in the Alberta Bantam AAA League is eligible for the 2006 WHL Entry Draft and the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. David Justice Often said to be a “smaller Tomas Kloucek”, Justice is a fourteen year old 5’10/154 defenseman from California who currently plays for Shattuck-St. Mary’s. He’ll become eligible for the NHL Entry Draft in 2009. Rand Kaberle Although he’s extremely small for a defenseman, the 5’4/134 fifteen year old is an excellent defenseman who could be very good in the future. He might not be fast or physical, but his defensive game is almost perfect and he has the great ability to make an excellent first pass out of the defensive zone. Damn, I succeeded to write a name incorrectly... Sorry about that; I'll try to write it Moungey in the next updates but in the game his name is Moungrey. Quote:
Sorry for the small write-up. It was pretty long to do and sometimes I just tried to pass by quickly on some players. Be sure I'll do my best to keep you interested in him. Last edited by duff88 : 10-23-2005 at 05:35 PM. |

I have extremely bad news guys... the savegame is corrupted.
I knew before creating the dynasty that editing the database like this usually made savegames that could get corrupted along the way, but I had already been able to make a dynasty despite this (Safwat dynasty for those who knows it) and it worked pretty well. It bugged on October 16th, I had saved the game on October 3rd following my first update but I can't open it anymore cause it's corrupt. I don't know why this game got corrupted immediately, which didn't usually happen if I kept NHL:EHM open without closing it. That really makes me sad/angry cause I see that this had created alot of interest and it sucks to simply cut it out so soon. I don't know what to say anymore... sorry. |

That sucks about the savegame being corrupted But since it happened so soon, wouldn't it be possible to give it another shot?

I'm going to do that, but I'm going to keep the reports for my self until I think that it's worthy enough of posting so that this kind of situation doesn't happen again. |
