Kudos on not having the foggiest clue how free expression works under the Constitution.

Tampa getting lit up by Case Keenum, New Orleans up by 3 TD at Carolina, Denver trailing in the 4th in Buffalo, the Jets blowing out and shutting out Miami in the 4th, Houston leading New England in the 4th, and Jacoby Brissett looking like a superstar. Yeah, I had none of those things happening before the games started.

Not watching a NFL game means I don't know how the Constitution works? I wonder if you understand.

Players have a right to express an opinion. I have a right to react to that opinion. See how that works? Or are you saying that I don't have that right?

Meh, he's free not to spend his money on them, just like I'm free not to spend money at Chick-fil-A (on Sundays) due to their stances.

I'm saying it's laughable to draw the line at people legally using an inane cultural act of worship as a means to protest serious social injustice.

It's a joke to pretend the anthem before games is anything but a cash grab by the NFL in the first place, but to say that you won't watch a sporting event because people are using that jingoistic worship nonsense as a place of legitimate protest seems myopic at best.

I hope fans stop buying into the whole asinine spectacle and start sitting/kneeling themselves.

I'm so old I remember when the Giants had the worst offense in the history of the NFL.

Really not surprised by the Steelers today. They've played poorly against 3 of the worst teams in the league to start the year. They're lucky that they are in as weak of a division as they are. They certainly don't look like any kind of playoff threat.

The Lions continue to break new ground with different and interesting ways to lose football games. I don't yet understand what happened there, but I reckon we'll be hearing about it.

Christ. Jake Elliot just hit a last second 61 yd FG for the Eagles to win.

Sooo Bengals to let him go after picking him in the draft.

I mean I understand the intent, but you can't actually run out the clock on a game because the officials stopped the clock, that's just ludicrous.

Admittedly I'm watching red zone on a small TV, but I have no idea how that wasn't a TD in Detroit

From what they showed I don't know how they definitively ruled the defender touched Tate.

Ugly win but I'll take it. Only a SB win will erase last years embarrassment.

Me now: "...hold on, I think this Trump guy might really be on to something." Is there some particular person or measure that I vote for in order to nuke the NFL?

Carl Lawson has just manhandled Green Bay's left tackle out of his way on 2 first half sacks.

I'm sure the Bengals will figure out a way to lose this, but nice first half so far.

Now that would have been funny if there was a second left. Call timeout to force the punt and then it nearly backfires.

Just saw the Lions replay and I don't get the fuss. You can see on the replay that the knee was down before the ball crossed the line and this defender had touched him. There has to be a runoff there; you can't penalize the defense for the refs missing the call originally.

I am sick of teams emasculating themselves when they have a chance to beat the Pats. 4th and 1 deep in Pats territory late. Go for it. Ice the game. Win. Damn sure Belichick does the same thing if the situation was reversed. Yes, I hate the Pats but damned if they don't play to win.

Seriously going to throw a 12 men on the field penalty 20 seconds after the play, when the guy had no impact on the play?

This is as bad as the Von Miller penalty from earlier.

Looking at the Eagles FG - if somebody hired an NBA player to stand back there on long field goals and then blocked it cleanly from going over the bar, is that a legal play?

Goaltending...

Edit: Holy crap, I was just kidding. Didn't know that was actually a rule in the NFL. That seems like a stupid rule; seriously, how often is that going to happen.

Edit 2: If you are allowed to catch the ball in the end zone and run it out why can't you jump up and "get" it? I need to look that rule up to see what it states.

Yeah I think he was short as well. Guess you could argue the Lions would have lined up to get at least a sneak in but it would have been close.

FYI you are being a hypocrite. He has every right to react how he wants as you have the right to praise the kneeling or not think the protest is worth your time. Him having an opinion on this is supposedly what this entire kneeling thing is about. Freedom for everyone.

Trump is antagonizing people and it is making it worse.

Who are these Redskins and where did this come from? Thompson is helping me climb the money ladder on FanDuel as well.

Didn't see the play, but it was pointed out last year that clearly the refs are getting some guidance from "upstairs" even though it's technically not supposed to happen. Things like re-spotting the ball before a team lines up, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if this was in that vein.

There are the Redskins I know. Botched FG and now muffed punt inside their own 20. Let's see if the defense can bow up and keep them out of the end zone.

Great hit, perfect hit to break up that 3rd & long pass up the sideline.

Also, isn't that a penalty in college football for hitting a "defenseless receiver"?

Multiple obvious pass interference calls not made on Oakland tonight, yet there's one to try and get them back in the game. It was a penalty, but it's convenient that it hasn't been called the other way.

Was Oakland trying to cover up a WR on the right & disguise it, then slip the LT out for an uncovered dump off?

NFL's Sunday TV ratings down: coincidence or are player protests to blame? | cleveland.com

Effect of the protests or just a bad game?

Ratings have been in decline for a few seasons now. There's a multitude of factors, like fewer kids playing and cord cutting, but people properly exercising their constitutional rights is just the low hanging fruit of the moment.

I would consider a ten percent drop in viewership in one week something to ponder. That's not "fewer kids playing and cord cutting".

That's probably something about that particular game.

Weird that I just saw this headline on the front page of reddit

Trump’s failed boycott leads to most watched Sunday football in seven years

I have no idea which one is true. Just thought that was amusing.

The same article says the 1pm games were up by 11%. The article is also talking year over year ratings and not week to week.

That headline contradicts the article. It says the pregame show got the highest ratings in 7 years and that CBS games were up 4%.
