If he is honestly doing this from prison, that's stupid. Jails need to be harder on people. No current events, no freaking blogging, nothing.

I think if people are going to eventually get out of jail, the best thing for them is to get them access to book, current events materials and such alike. Sure, they are in jail and shouldn't get better conditions than the average person or even someone poor.
But those are two separate issues, honestly. If we want to lower the likelihood that someone would reoffend, giving them access to things that will make their return to the outside world a bit better -- I mean, they leave jail effectively broke and with whatever they came in with -- than it could be. We're gonna pay either way, might as well pay once and be done with it hopefully.
