Picked up a rare Righteous Honor monk fist. Sold it in the Auction house. Current highest bid at 3600 gold. Yay.

The gold AH is interesting. Some of the prices for gear are relatively low (though it may be because the AH is very new at this stage) and so it's not terribly difficult to pick up a bunch of gear for your new character and make the game even easier.

Not sure how this will affect the real-money AH but if prices stay this low, there may not be that much real money to be made.

Prices should normalize as supply increases.

I'm so focused on salvaging anything I don't used I haven't even thought of using the AH. Made a really, really nice rare helm earlier tonight:

54 armor, +20 str, +18 dex, +42 life from health globes.

FYI, if you sell the magic stuff in the AH and then use the money to buy ingredients the for the blacksmith you will make way more profit than salvaging the magic stuff.

Graphics seem muddy and not so vibrant. Poe graphics are much more crisp. Diablo III art reminds me of 2008.....

Maybe im jaded by games like Skyrim

I'd be shocked if there's any kind of market in the RMAH for anything other than end game level loot. I can't see many people spending money on gear when they could end up finding or crafting something better in an hour or so of play.

I have been amazed at what people have been willing to spend money on before though.

A nice strategy I've been doing is scouring the auction houses for Rare equipment that is my level and have max buyout values of 1000 gold.

I'm nearly decked out it Rare gear for less than 8000 gold.

I've put a couple rare items I've crafted up in the auction house. So far I've been disassembling nearly everything I've picked up at the blacksmith and spent most of my gold either upgrading the blacksmith or jeweler, upgrading gems and crafting items.

Don't think I'd ever use the auction house for purchases, most of the fun for me in games like this is finding or crafting gear for my characters.

Very disappointed. I just spent 2.5 days downloading so I can use a guest pass. My son bought the full version and we hoped to play at least Act 1 together. But we can't. A guest pass and full-purchaser cannot play together.

Started as a demon hunter.. definitely not a fun class for the solo players out there, but get in there with a tank and stand back and my word it is fun!

The game starts off pretty slow, but by the time you get into act 2-3 it really does pickup! good fun!

Salvaging seems kind of broken right now because of the AH.

Salvaging a Blue gets you one Subtle Essence, and sometimes a Fang.

You can get Subtle Essence on the Auction House for roughly 25 gold.

Blues sell for about 100++ to the merchants. Technically speaking, you can just keep on selling your blues to the merchant and buy 3x as much Subtle Essence from the Auction House.

Just finished the game, final fight was insane. If it wasn't for my passive that brings me back to life with 10% health, I would have died a few times. One of the best games i've ever played. Now to go through on Nightmare.

of course I go to the AH and neither seem to be for sale, bizarre.

Never mind, having to put in a quantity is a bit weird.

I've only been able to play the game for 20 minutes and looks like I won't be able to play for another week. So that sucks.

That said, while the game is not a graphical powerhouse(never was expected to be), it's still looks better than the beta. The main player especially, animations and colors are miles ahead of beta. Which was a concern of mine.

Diablo 2 was the same, animations on the players had a fraction of the amount of frames as the full version. So I was hoping it turns out this way.

All in all I think this game is what Diablo 2 should have been. Loved D1, D2 never clicked with me. And I haven't even messed around with the auction house, I generally love playing the auction house in games as much as the game itself.

I would expect the market to work this out. Unless there is a variable at play we are not aware of.

I have started my second character, a Witch Doctor to change gameplay style from my first one, a Barbarian.

I'm having a ton of fun with it so far and have it at level 11 already. The only issue is that i created it as female and didn't notice it until she was level 6 already, so i'll stick to my first ever female character in a game.

Next i'm going to try a Monk, that i think could be useful in multiplayer because it's healing attributes, as most of people uses other style of players.

I played through normal solo as a demon hunter, it was pretty fun. There's plenty of ways to stay safe. Chain a bunch of enemies together and drop some traps to slow them and then finish off a big group with impale. Plus you can get out of danger easily with tumble. I don't think I would have been able to beat Rakanoth or Diablo without the turrets though, but the stunning impale helped a lot too.

I never really used Elemental Arrow yet. Impale > Overpenetration for 250% damage to all enemies in a line though, big fan.

I've got a Monk in the co-op game I'm playing with my wife. He's making a reasonable tank with his melee settings, she has a Demon Hunter for the ranged attack. He's a lot of fun to play.

I am constantly decking out my Barbarian with full Rare equipment every time I level up now (not including amulet and rings). I've mainly gone for high base value and magic drops.

I've got 51% magic drop, and the blues are dropping everywhere... a good solid run would earn me around 1k to 2k worth of blues when sold in the shops.

Again, this isn't for everyone, but it's nice that it's there.

I fully expect this strategy to peter out when I reach the higher levels, though.

Nightmare mode is a blast, feels like a whole new game. The amount of gold and rares that drop is much higher as well.

I remember in the first Diablo when gold actually took up inventory space. I had a field near Tristram covered in gold coins.

heh finally got past the boring early part of Diablo 2 that made me put it down to begin with . Guessing it gets better now. Quick question. What is the most fun class to play in Diablo 2 (including the expansion). I haven't installed the expansion yet but I have it and could do that too. Don't want to make a million characters but want to get it right the first time

Some of my favorite classes:

Hammeradin (Paladin heavy on the righteous hammer spell)
Druid with fissure/molten boulder
Necromancer with Bone Spear
Any kind of Assassin
Any kind of Amazon

Not my kind of play style, but an Ice Sorceress was a good choice as well.
